Prefecture's Youth Council Discusses 'Harmful' Books & Homosexuality

Well..I just recently came back on here.
Oh yeah thats right:
I'm bbaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaackkk.
I am once again back and belive me I'm not going anywhere anytime soon.
So lets get started.
*sigh*..What did I say before?.
I said when Bill 156 passed in Japan last year that it would change anime/manga as you know it.
Some of you on here told me I had no idea what I was talking about..that nothing would change.
Oh really. Well guess what I just found today.
I've been keeping tabs on the anime news website..its amazing..nothing for months on coverage of bill 156 or its results..just silence..
But I knew..I knew it was just a matter of time.
Granted I will admit it took longer then my original prediction..yet here we go people.

Now granted also this is just a "conversation" or "discussion"..whatever you want to call it as, but at this meeting one of the council members gave the following comments from ANN's story:
"I think that it is very dangerous." That was just some of this person's words..
I'll let you people decide how you want to take this council member's comments. Its even admited in this article that this person understands the times but "doesn't understand it".
None the less though this is how it starts.
First it starts with words..and then it builds into something more.
I've seen this kind of process in action and what it does. I lived it.
Doesn't matter what the topic/issue is.
If a person wants there perspective/issue to be what the vision/reality should be they won't stop.
They will push it through one way or another!
By hook or by crook!
And in this case..This is also what happens when you allow people outside of the manga/anime industry to start regulating and deciding the content and what is deemed appropriate. By people not normally in the loop.
I don't know if these people are part of what will decide the outcome of the regulations yet the fact its being shown on ANN shows it will indeed at least provide a preview of things to come.
Call it whatever you want, but if you have been keeping tabs with me..you can now chalk up 1 point in my favor.
Now look ...I agree that certain things and content needs to be regulated. Especially when it comes to childern audiences. There are clearly things that shouldn't be shown to em .
However is the price of this newfound regulation to be a complete and perminate change to the content and also in the way all manga/anime viewers wish to watch the anime/manga you enjoy?
To define what 'Harmful' really is?
I'm gonna end this blog with this...you know something..if thats the choice thats about to be made here thats alright.
Afterall we do live in a real world.
Competion trumps anything in the end.
Which meens there will always be other places and oppertunities for artist to truly express themselves if they truly wish it.
The question then becomes for that artist..
how much of a price are they willing/prepared to pay for it to come true?
In the end only the artist can answer that question.

Quote:
These books contain a little shadow of violence and brutality in them, most of which are to stimulate the sexual feelings and tend to depict women taking the lead over men. We are concerned that if youths read such material, they may have a biased notion that women desire [these feelings].
Also, if there are more depictions where women lead, it will encourage the tendency toward homosexuality and make it difficult psychologically to have a sexual intercourse normally.
Although it cannot be generalized, it is said that men tend to lean toward the homosexuality by thinking that they cannot take the lead.
We see such a tendency in today's books which are placed among the regular books within sight of youths. I think that it is very dangerous.

I don't think this can play a major role on Bill 156 due to it being in another city than Tokyo, but Tokyo's Shogun could certainly use it like this:
"Even the people in Miyazaki say it's not acceptable" but other than that it seems like these politics don't mix.
What I do see is a chain reaction that could occur; once a prefecture does something why not all?
I also believe Bill 156 wasn't talked about and won't be because it's not what they planned; they probably intended to just use it to break the ice and then will pass new, more restrictively ridiculous bills afterwards using the old "We are just adding to a bill already in place so it's nothing major." to push their personal 17th century outdated values onto everyone.
At least with politics like this who needs sitcoms

well i'm glad you find some humor from this situation.
Yet I got to point out that you can't underestimate things like this. It might not appear to be a major role yet the fact you now have this kind of thinking going on is all it takes to push something through.
Just keep watching. Its just a matter of time.Posted January 12th, 2012 at 02:08 PM by waltsoph3
