Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Amiti.
There are two options for his father. Paithos said that it was a powerful Mercury adept, which pretty much leaves Piers... or Alex/Arcanus.
Now.
Why on earth would Piers have a bastard child, first of all? He strikes me as being noble - he wouldn't just leave Veriti to never return.
Also, when talking to Tret, he says that Amiti is related to the Warriors of Vale. His father had to be a Mercury adept. Unless Rief travelled back in time to impregnate Veriti (highly unlikely), that leaves Mia's father (also highly unlikely) and Alex in terms of possible fathers (recall, Alex is Mia's cousin).
A little something I noticed when in Tonfon late in the game - after reuniting Hou Ju and Ryu Kou with their mother and uncle, I spoke to one of the servants in the palace who said, I quote (loosely), "Back so soon? And where is your mask?"
Recall. Arcanus wears a mask. Arcanus is Alex (unless Alex has an even more evil twin brother. Incredibly unlikely).
AND WHY THE HELL IS AMITI THINKING ABOUT ALEX NEAR THE END OF THE GAME WHEN YOU'RE CONTROLLING SVETA AND USE SPIRIT SENSE ON HIM???????? (why do I get the feeling this is going to prompt Alex/Amiti fanfiction? Not from me. Alex/Mia ftw. And Amiti/Karis or Amiti/Nowell)
All of this leads to me concluding that Alex, what with his unclear ulterior motives, visited Ayuthay, activated the Alchemy Well, banged up Veriti, left, and boom, we have Amiti.
Go figure.
Amiti is such a sexy guy. And I can't believe he looks so young for being around 19 (recall, he was conceived 20 years before Dark Dawn's main story).
Alex/Veriti is such a cute couple, although I fail to see how he could have wooed her enough in such a short time. Whatever. Maybe we'll find out in the next game.
In any case, Kali out. I gotta go to sleep and dream up fanfiction ideas.
Anyone fancy Tret/Wise One? I've dubbed it RockPaperScissorshipping.

Alex has always been a mystery in the Golden Sun plot.
It's like he an antihero of sorts that seems to know more about the future of Wayard than he's known for.
Perhaps his goal is to destroy all the bad things that Alchemy could cause so that only the good things exist and life can be harmonious at the end of this massive story plot.
Or maybe he really is just out for power.
Or maybe neither.
Alex has been and always will be one of my favorite Protagonist/Antagonist in any RPG, I think he alone keeps the story in check while everyone else is thinking about the end result of the quest.
Alex being Amiti's father makes a lot of sense, since he's the only one that isn't accountable with the story when I first got to Authay.
Also wasn't he the first one to reach the Golden Sun at the end of Lost Age? So he is basically immortal.Posted January 5th, 2011 at 04:02 PM by Old Ape Face

You see, I like Alex from a character analysis standpoint for the reasons you mentioned. Although my personal opinion is that he is out for power, and has knowledge of what needs to be done to gain this power - he subtly uses people to do what he cannot in order to get power - I think that once his original plan with the Golden Sun failed (recall, the Wise One's little trick with the Mars star and Isaac), therefore, he isn't completely invincible, he started looking for ways to increase his power. Maybe he heard about the Apollo Lens, and hoped that activating it would give him Light Adept powers (oh, god, that would be scary. Alex with Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Light, and Dark psynergy... @,@). So, he pokes around and learns that one needs to activate the Alchemy Well, Alchemy Forge, and Alchemy Dynamo to be able to activate the Apollo Lens. And then, of course, activating the Alchemy Dynamo unleashes the Grave Eclipse, which the Apollo Lens is needed to stop. So, what I'm saying is that this was one giant Xanato Gambit by Alex to gain Light psynergy. [/analysis]
HOWEVER, from a personality standpoint, I can't stand him. I can't stand his stupid 'greater than thou' attitude. I HATE HIM! But I respect him. That's what makes him a Magnificent Bastard, and what prompts the giant analysis paragraph above.
And I now have a theory about how Alex wooed Veriti in such a short time - he put her under a spell, hoping that by convincing Paithos that Veriti loved him, the king would be more comfortable with him tinkering with the Alchemy Well, and therefore his plan works.Posted January 5th, 2011 at 04:47 PM by Kali-chan

But what does he plan to do with all the power he wants? That's the mystery in it all.
Is it just for personal gain?
Or does he plan on controlling the universe that Wayard is in so that Psynergy doesn't fall like it did with the ancients?
Or does he want total dominant control and be the only person in the world?
He wants to be an unstoppable god, but why?Posted January 5th, 2011 at 04:54 PM by Old Ape Face
