So, since I have been rather a downer in my last few blog posts, I thought I'd talk about two (count them TWO) new artistic venues I've begun in the last month since I've had...so much more free time.
Shiroiyuki Presents: a new comic book series
The story has been WIP for almost....eight, nine years. I had the plot/characters completely worked out in my mind and down on paper for a long time but I never felt confident enough in my art to do them justice. I'm very protective of this one, it's my baby.
I've got myself some manga-sized paper and have gone to work! I have the cover completely inked and awaiting color, and ten pages sketched in with pencil. Like I said, I have the plot all worked out and the major milestone checkpoints it needs to show. I'm still working on some of the finer points, like dialogue in some places, pace, etc.
I'm aiming for 30-31 pages for the first issue, but it will probably be more toward the 40 range just because there is SO much I need to cover within a decent time frame.
I have thoroughly enjoyed breaking out my ink and pen/nibs! It is the BEST way to draw, let me tell you. So much control in the line weight and flow, a hundred times better than some dinky fountain pen deal.
When I'm completely finished I'll do a little teaser on AN and show a couple pages. I do want to publish it if possible, make some money (doubtful, but the hope is still alive!).
It'll be a good learning experience at any rate. And I could always go back and redo it if I improve later down the road and feel it necessary.

So I had this really strange, cool dream one night and thought, gee -- that would make an awesome book series.
So I've set to work, whenever I find the time or inspiration, and have so far written 30+ pages (front/back in a notebook). It's going surprisingly well. I usually hit a wall after a couple of hours, but this has been great.
Very freeing.
Again, I'd like to maybe publish this if I actually finish but will definitely post a teaser here at my home away from home, AN.
