What a realization

After a long, road trip filled vacation, last week, I have quite a few crazy stories to tell. However, I feel the need to dedicate this entry to a truly eye opening realization that I had.
I think I've discovered the secret to happiness. It involves merely giving up an idea that anything has to be or should be a certain way. If you notice all of the most miserable people are upset at things, people, or the world for not conforming to their idealism.
In order for any peace to exist one must have inner peace. This includes accepting the world for what it is. Accepting the good, bad and all the grey areas. It's about accepting the doom and the jellybeans. Nothing is perfect. Nobody is perfect, and the universe just exists without us.
In the past when someone has been hateful or ignorant, I felt a need to point that out, but I realize I needn't. People like that are miserable, so they attack other people and blame their unhappiness on them. The only thing they gain is their own misery and the weight of their own negative emotions.
Idealism basically gives people a right to tell others how to be, how to live their lives, how they should create their art, and what kind of art they should create or enjoy. It also stresses out the individual with said beliefs, even causes them to become bitter and hateful. I don't want any part of that. My thing was "Why can't everyone just chill the **** out?" I think we all know the answer to that, now it's just accepting that answer.
In the end it seems that peace can't come from the idealism of peace, but the abandonment of idealism. If not for the world, at least for you and those who will share it with you.
