Another Anime based Video Game that I like...
Ghost In The shell: SAC (PS2)
Difficulty: Normal
I didn't want to leave this block of text in the Post the Last Game you completed... thread
-Like I mentioned in the daily thoughts thread, this game reminds me of Oni. That being said, having the actual English dub cast from Anime in the game adds major points in my book when in briefings and when in-game info is being passed on to you.
You switch out between Major Kusanagi and Batou during the game which adds some challenge because Batou can't do the crazy flip jumps and wall kicks. Usual selection of weapons (Sub Machine Gun, Shotgun, Assult Rifle, Sniper Rifle, Grenade and Rocket Launchers). You're allowed to carry two weapons at any time. There's also Body Armor, Optical camouflage and a bit of slow motion bullet time during melee take downs and when your life is in the red (via the items).
It's mainly a 3rd person shooter except for when you zoom in with the sniper rifle. There is melee combat which I really enjoy when using Kusanagi because I knock out the enemy, take their weapon and then flip all over the place to avoid gunfire and find cover. The variety of enemies is alright. You only get to use the Tachikoma in battle once which I found disappointing. The game uses a checkpoint save system so you don't have to start the entire level over if you don't want to. As far as mini games go, there is a hacking game that allows you to take over an enemy for several seconds if you do it right, but I can only get past a Level 1 barrier. The last 2 Boss fight sequences weren't really hard (on Normal) but were a lot of fun. An open field picking off soldiers who are using stealth camouflage while fighting off a giant tank
. Batou made me
during the ending.
There's also a multiplayer feature that I never really use but could be fun since you can change the max kill count (to win), time limit, starting weapons, Character skins. The arenas are different enough so you could experiment and have mirror matches.
Overall, a decent game with added bonuses if you...
Like the Anime and English Dub cast
Are fond of Oni (a game by Bungie)
Don't mind a split screen multi-Player
