From what I have been reading, I am among the lucky ones. I had to give up my Dish Network feed for a few weeks, and therefore never had to witness Cartoon Network's live action programming.
Even though, I haven't see Cartoon Network's live action offerings yet, I can still give you my opinion on them. An opinion that is not about the shows themselves, but the concept of having live action on a cartoon network.
For those of you without cable or satellite television, Cartoon Network added a new programming block to their line up: Cartoon Network Real, CN Real to be more accurate. Now, I don't mind live action programming. Some of my favorite television shows and films are live action. But, I do have issues with CN Real.
There is a time and a place for live action, but Cartoon Network is not one of them. As a cable network dedicated to cartoons, CN Real looks out of place on the network. CN should be airing cartoons. Cartoons that could easily take the place of the Outsiders, Survive This!, Destroy Buld Destroy, and that game show.
Instead, we got CN Real. On top of that, Cartoon Network is promoting it like it is the best thing since sliced bread, in spite the failure ratings the block is already pulling in. Heck, there are already reports that kids (Cartoon Network's primary demographic) both hates and is confused by the live action. Cartoon Network, if you don't want to be in business, tell us so we can move on!
Speaking of moving on, you don't have to worry about live action programming here. The only stuff we have that is live are the soundtracks for the Batman and Transformers movies. And the only future live action soundtracks we will carry will be from movie adaptations of the cartoons you love. That is our promise. That is our way. The revolution may have ended on Cartoon Network, but it will never be defeated here on Toon Radio.
