Working In An Anime Company: Taste Testing

Every once in awhile, companies would send Funimation some samples to us. They would make prototypes of products that they were hoping we would pick up and sell. And once every blue moon, a company would send food products for us.

One company, who will remain nameless, sent over a box of Dragonball Z candy. They had it all: Senzu Beans (green jelly beans), Dragon Balls (yellow jaw breakers with red stars), Saiyan Bars (a Hershey Bar rip off), and the best of the best Fusion Bars (an almond Hershey Bar rip off). As you can guess we never picked them up.

Although things like real Senzu beans and Fusion Bars sound great, nothing compared quite like the Dragonball Z Fruit Drinks. Trunks Purple (grape), Goku Orange, and Picollo Green (I have no idea, I never tried it). I worked at Funimation for five years and those things were still there when I finally left. We had two each. On one of the last days there, one of the guys decided he was finally going to try one. So he opened up a Goku Orange drink and went to town. He soon spit it up and said that was the worst thing ever.
