How to use Anime to Study for the US History SAT (kind of)

Posted June 20th, 2012 at 02:28 PM by BookCover

Going to take a bunch of US history tests next year. Want to be totally prepped. Don't want to lose focus on my goal. So! This is a list of historical anime that will educate me (sort of ...maybe...I'm trying, ok?!) while I watch.

1. Baccano! This is set in 1920's NYC. The US was on the verge of financial meltdown. WW1 had just ended. This is America at it's craziest. The aesthetic is also awesome.

2. Hetalia! I don't actually know that much about WW1. (Woodrow Wilson Who? Wait, I know that one) Anyways, every country that played a role in WW1 is its own character. That sounds crazy. Trench warfare is turned into love triangle warfare. Not exactly focused on the U S of A, but close enough.

3. Grave of Fireflies. Still haven't watched this. Looks pretty sobering. Hello WW2.

4. Mysterious Cities of Gold. This is some sort of ancient french/japanese production set in the 1500's. It's gotta cover all my new world stuff, right? (yes)
