A Fox Among Wolves 5/24/12
The Arms Master smiles his keen ears had heard everything. Brandychan was following Sakura’s footsteps exactly. Yukara’s work during the reprogramming had her doing exactly what the people would want for a leader. Someone that didn’t want special treatment or pampering when handling things handed to them. He hoped that along with the programming she didn’t forget what he told the class about non lethal combat. He really didn’t want her to severely injure or kill one of the men.
The Five minute time is over and the students come up and tell him who they wish to challenge. He wasn’t surprised that half of the class wanted to challenge Brandychan. Both the number two seed and her wanted to fight the number one seed. He decided to let the number two seed fight the number one seed. Brandychan would fight the highest challenger which was the former number three seed. After the first two matches he would let the lower matches go on to let the first fighters recover. It would be simple establishing the final seeding till next time.
Writing the names of the matches on tags then he hangs them up on the board. Many of the lower seeds sigh when Brandychan’s match is posted. He then calls the first seed and second seed to the mat. Everyone knew it would be a good match. Both were close in skill. After they select their staffs of bamboo he waves them to come to the center of the mat. “No deadly blows. If you are knocked out or cannot continue the other competitor is the winner.” He explained. He waits for them to bow and then set up. “Ready! Now go!” he yelled. The dojo becomes silent as everyone watches the match.
