I'm surprised you didn't mention Martian Successor Nadesico, which parodies a great number of things (including itself, with the Gekigangar V stuff), and is in itself a really great series.

Keep in mind that I was specifically listing extended parodies of specific other shows. Nadesico parodies the traditional super robot genre, but not any particular singular title. Gekiganger V does seem very similar to Getter Robo, but it's also similar to shows including Voltes V and Daiohja.

would the Gekigangar III anime (I only heard of it, never watched it) fit within the recent "unlikely anime adaptation" since it was based off of the anime the characters in Nadesico watched? or is that too much of a stretch since some of the scenes were already animated?

Technically the Gekiganger III OVA isn't a genuine spin-off anime. It's actually a Nadesico OVA because it begins with Nadesico characters Akito, Yurika, and Ruri going to a movie theater to watch the Gekiganger III motion picture.

No offense, but I'm going to have to seriously disagree with the assertion that Asian bodytypes are naturally small and not muscular. I live in Japan. I go to Japanese gyms and there are plenty of muscular people here. If there is a relative lack of them, it's because the typical Japanese diet has lots of carbohydrates from rice and noodles but comparatively fewer amounts of protein and much less calcium from drinking much less milk. But also, the aesthetic of beauty is for very thin, pretty people. Girls say they don't like men with big muscles or even guys with prominent smaller muscles. This isn't an issue of genetics - it's diet and exercise. Eat big, lift big, become big. Eat little, stay little.

In respect to this point, I've revised the article to change "natural" to "typical."

Sure you heard about this (Murphy law would probably suggest right after posting your answer to today's Ask John).

Funi WILL release the final volumes for Welcome to the NHK, Pumpkin Scissors and Red Garden, only just though a single retailer.

This is for the Anime Trailers = Openings

You may want to mention, at least for US trailers on DVDs, that by using the OP instead of a set of clips, they can avoid using voiced scenes. A lot of American fans don't watch/can't stand/hate dubs, and so if the trailer includes dubbed dialogue, that will turn them off. Likewise, a lot of American fans only watch the dub, so having to read subtitles or not being able to understand dialogue in the trailer will also turn them off. By using the OP, they avoid the entire problem, since there's no dialogue to have to deal with at all.

Correction re: "The domestic release of the Genma Wars television series is censored version apparently provided by the original Japanese distributor."

Enoki Films is the international licensor for the series. It isn't the Japanese distributor.

Corrected. Also, in the same article, corrected the title "Kissdum -Engage Planet- R" to the proper "Kissdum R -Engage Planet-".

11/13 podcast: DBZ is 291 episodes, and Funi never finished releasing the Freezer Arc on singles in correct aspect ratio.

No mention of Spice and Wolf in your 2008 wrap up? Kind of expected that one to get a good mention, you've mentioned it a few times before.

It's in there among my runner-up list of year's best. I referred to it by its Japanese title, as I used Japanese titles throughout most of the article.

"Candy Boy, Casshern Sins, Kannagi, Kurenai, Kurozuka, One Outs, Ookami to Koshinryo, RD Senno Chosashitsu, and Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei"

As I've mentioned before, the one weakness that prevented Wolf & Spice from being one of 2008's best productions was its brevity. The first series was just too short to fully develop its character relationships. (Alternately, you could argue that the show introduced too many characters too quickly.) The upcoming second series should go a long way to allowing the story to unfold more fully.

The thread ("(18+) The Karma Saiyuki" (http://www.mania.com/aodvb/showthread.php?t=90592)) on Mania.com's Anime/Manga Region 1 DVD/BD Cover Art Discussions forum confirms that The Karma Saiyuki (sic) is Iyashite Agerun Saiyuuki.

Small corrections for Strike Witches question:

"Perrine represents the European gentry of Candy Candy and Houno [sic]..."

Candy Candy takes place in America. Perhaps Lady Lady (set in England) would be better?

It's "Honoo" (hiragana: ほのお kanji: 炎)

Addition for your question today. Nadia was loosely based on "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea"

And Fun fact on Hamlet that really serves no purpose.

Might not have gotten an anime adaptation, but it was adapted into another fandom, Klingon

Thanks, but technically I'm covered. I wrote, "And that’s not to mention the countless anime adaptations... of more recent classic novels dating from the Romantic period onward to today." Verne's 20,000 Leagues was published in 1870, meaning that it's more recent than the Romantic period.

Re: Megadeth Nyan Nyan Article.

While I commend your title choice, you should qualify the statements regarding Marty Friedman as a former member of Megadeth as he left the band in 1998 due to personal and musical differences with band leader Dave Mustaine.

This is reply to your "Why are classic Go Nagai Anime Passed up for English Release?" Ask John piece, where you said:
Gaogaiger was undoubtedly an unfortunate expensive failure for Media Blasters.

Well, this is quite frankly not quite true, as John Sirabella posted over at the AoD forums back in June of this year and said this in regards to GaoGaiGar's overall sales:
It did ok but if we dubbed the enture series it would have not been worth it. We would have loss money. Unfortunately the show while quite good just does not have the legs of a Giant Robo, Teknoman or Voltron.

Here's (http://www.mania.com/aodvb/showpost.php?p=1596600&postcount=66) the actual post. Now the term "success" can be up to opinion and change depending on the show, but from that quote it seems to me that Media Blasters, at the very least, broke even with GaoGaiGar... Far from being an "undoubtedly unfortuante expensive failure" like you said it was, John. That line should be fixed so as to not give people the wrong idea.
