At times like this it's hard to disagree with the death penalty.

I entirely agree with this. She needs a very painful death for what she's done, IMO. Nothing else would do it justice.

I'm pretty sure the Founding Fathers never considered this sort of crime when they prohibited cruel and unusual punishment.
Her punishment should be incredibly cruel and grotesquely original. Like... sanding her to death with a belt sander, starting with the feet. Or freezing her in liquid nitrogen, then dropping her from an aircraft into a swimming pool full of Rubik's cubes.

That's gotta hurt, I hope the lady went into shock quickly or passed out to save her from as much pain as possible.
Haro!

I think punishment should focus on mental punishment rather than death. The death penalty is too swift for people like this. I think you have to f*** with their mind in a way that is unpleasant for them. Even if they are nuts, as this person must clearly be, there is still a way to make them suffer psychologically.

Unfortunately not. She was conscious the whole time, but thankfully so, otherwise she wouldn't have been able to escape.
The shittiest part of the whole thing is that sick woman went to sleep after seeing that she was in too much pain to go on. Went to sleep like none of it mattered.

...jesus.
What the hell possesses someone to do something so horrible?
I hope she rots (whether dead or alive) and that the mother and child remain perfectly fine and healthy. Poor things.

I say someone make that beast pregnant and do an inexperienced C-section on her.

Mental psychology wont fix this problem, not while the woman has the guts to do something that disturbing. even if you found something that's wrong to her she wouldn't really take it to much interest.

Excuse me? Has the GUTS to do something like this? That's not guts, this woman is pure evil.

Good lord. What kind of depraved human being would cut open a pregnant woman using a box cutter and razor blades? Unfortunately, since she's she's not charged with murder, I'm guessing she won't get the death penalty she so richly deserves.
At least the mom and baby are expected to recover.

Well obviously the beast doesn't care about guts spilling out when she's thinking about having a baby.
So why would she care about anything more gruesome then that?

Yeah, thank goodness they're expected to be okay.

Who is this, "Veronica" character? What makes her so special that her name is in the headline instead of "crazed woman"?

She doesn't deseve death. She just wanted another baby..
However, I think her punishment should be: Impregnate her then have someone do the same as she tried to do with her previous victim and act as if someone is trying o take her baby from the womb with a utility knife.. That ought to teach the crazy woman a lesson.

Problem with that is you're making the unborn child suffer as well.

as if Veronica cared if her baby to be was harmed in any way.

Then you will achieve nothing by doing to her what you and shinsensaitoh propose. It's a no-brainer anyway: torture in whatever form just as long as it's long and slow.

I agree with f2akid, you shouldn't make a baby suffer in order to enact revenge. How about just cut open her stomach period?
Actually I don't even think that doing that would be enough of a punishment.

As incredibly bizarre and unpleasant as this story is, it seems oddly familiar. Was there a similar story not many months ago, or is this just really weird deja vu?

Yes there was, but I don't think that the mother lived.
The people who do these things are nothing but pure evil.

It's kind of strange how these kind of threads deteriorate into different ways in which criminals should be punished.

No point talking about how sick it is in situations like this since the crime speaks for itself, so might as well look forward and not back.

What point is there to talk about something that will never happen? Makes just about as much sense as talking about what already happened.

What like her receiving a slow death? Can't say that'll never happen.

It's so unlikely that I may as well.
Slow death is nice compared to what a lot of the posts in this thread suggest, lol.

I'm I the only one who thinks naming the kid 'Miracle' is rather lame? Surely the mother didn't take a utility knife to the head, too?

Not really. It's like she wants sympathy for the rest of the girl's life, because whenever someone asks, "why Miracle?" (and you know they will) she'll be able to retell the story of her tragic beginning.
That's lame.

I also think it's lame. When naming your kids you have to think about how that name will affect them. I don't care what you think about the name, your kid has to live with it. It's like some "new age" parents or something who take a completely wtf name out of nowhere or some pagan name or something that seems "spiritual" or "cute" or bullcrap. It's like naming a boy Sue.

I'm sorry you don't think surviving someone trying to cut a baby out of the womb with a LINOLEUM KNIFEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE is impressive.

Or she could just say her parents were hippies or something. You get a lot of odd names these days. My favourite was a girl I met, a friend's sister in fact, who was named Hero.

(Her brother didn't happen to be named Yorick, did he?:))
Besides, even with a name like Miracle, she could just be given a normal middle name and go by that.

Haha! Yeah. I don't know her well enough to be able to comment though. And the guy in question is an old friend I don't see that often. I doubt I'll find out.

(Nah. Hugo. Unusual, but not incredibly so. I wish I could remember the names of his other two sisters, they had strange names. )

To put it bluntly, that statement is really shallow. What's wrong with a parent choosing out a name that they think is fitting for their child? You're deciding what that woman's intentions are without even knowing her. I can just as easily say that you chose:
http://animenation.net/forums/customavatars/avatar33285_34.gif
as your avatar because you're a fat ugly woman who wants men to drool over her avatar because it won't happen in real life. I'd be an *** if I said that, but as far as I know, it may be true.
Side note: I don't actually think that...

This is too squalid. Just lock her up where no one sees her, or kill her like a dog. No need to prolong an ugly, miserable episode.

Point is Miracle's a dumb name. Not as bas as Apple, but you know what? Right up there.
