Are you preparing for the future where everything is integrated and utopian, or the cataclysmic one where everything breaks down?
I am pushing for and preparing for the first one.
I know some people have armories ready for the invasions of the zombie-aliens though, and I know some people say the US economy is going to collapse, and then there are the ecologists.

Hmm. Sounds good. Is that the advance of consumerism and consumer culture, or its fall? Is that preparing at all, waiting till it comes and saying, "O look it's the future that came". I mean, you want to be ahead of the curve.

I am prepairing for the future that will come as well. Nothing is perfect, including the future. There will never be a utopia, nor will our civiliazation completely colapse (before the world itself ends). All we can do is prepare for both and work towards the utopia.

It's kind of stupid to "prepare" for either or if you think about it. You don't know if there's going to be a technology explosion in your lifetime, and you definitely can't know if there will be an apocalypse in the future. You have to live with what you got and look out for yourself in terms of what the present looks like and then the future (only after it is reasonably assessed according to present and previous trends). Doing it any way else makes you paranoid or an idiot. Or both.

The future I have in mind can be described as this:
Parakeets.
Parakeets as far as the eye can see

I think the only utopia I can think of is heaven. So until death and if I get there I can't say. I think here on earth as long as you have people it will be full of BS.

The future? Well, I have laundry to do this morning, followed by getting a haircut later on. Then I plan to be in a foul mood by nightfall because it's supposed to snow, and I hate snow! :P

The only catastrophe I'm fully prepared for is the worldwide panic that will inevitably spread on December 21, 2012. Apparently some ancient civilization ended their calendar on that day, so everyone thinks something bad will happen then. Whatever the case, apocalypse or no, I say bring it on.

I am getting my affairs in order because there are two looming economic issues no one has noticed. Add the fact that historically when the government helps the economy there is a temporary bubble created that explodes after the glut of money works out of the system causing a harder crash that takes even longer to get out of.

You mind giving me a heads up so I know when would be a good time to quit my job?
As to the topic. I am preparing for the future I want to create. I hope to make the place I live better since I cannot do much for the rest of the world.
