i just got recommended to this series because i am a fan of eva and was looking for a similar series

so questions

will i be dissapointed by this series from having such high hopes caus eof eva?

is it a lot of emo stuff cause thats the only thing i hate about eva, shinji can get so frickin annoying and emo?

is this series a mecha series?

is it dark like eva, or more on the light side?

i guess thats it, any other comments except negative ones would be appreciated

I liked it better than Evangelion, the main character is not grating and all the characters are likable. I also enjoyed the mecha designs much more than Eva. No it is not emo.

^same here. Rahxephon is one of my favorite shows. it's a serious show but I would say it's pretty light with dark, ominous undertones. The artwork is very sleek and stylish, there are no emo kids and the story is clearer and more enjoyable than eva. don't get me wrong. those who say this is an eva rip are no fools. there are a lot of parallels between the two but I think it's the differences between them that make Rahxephon so good.

If you find some of the terminology in the show a little difficult to understand, do a little google research into pre-columbian civilizations and the lost continent of Mu, as described in the works of James Churchward. Rahxephon uses references to this fabled civilization to describe the background of the Mu.

The movie is also a pretty decent watch. It basically re-tells the story of the series and adds a few details that may have been a little ambiguous. Anyway, it's a good show so enjoy!

Watch the first five episodes at least - the first DVD volume - then decide. If you're in doubt still, jump ahead to episode 15 "The Children's Night"; that episode is not chronological with the others, but gives you a glimpse at what you might be missing out.

I gotta agree with the others, it's more enjoyable than Eva. I thought the ending is a bit wittier too. I mean it doesn't take much thought to end a series with everyone dying, but it takes some smart and careful planning to make a real "twist" ending that suddenly open your eyes to what the whole series's been about.

But then again you're in RahX forums XP So of course you'll find RahX fans here. :D
