It will get you a year and half in county.
Man Gets 18 Months In Jail - For Stealing Hot Dog (http://wbztv.com/local/hot.dog.thief.2.1214964.html)
That's the punishment for Antonio Judd of Worcester.
He grabbed the hot dog from another man in Elm Park in August, after pulling what appeared to be a gun on him.
It turns out it was a pellet gun.
Police reports say Judd began to devour the hot dog, spilling mustard all over his shirt.
They say when he was arrested later he was carrying a pellet gun and a pocket knife.
He pleaded guilty Monday in Worcester Central District Court to charges including larceny from a person.
Records show Judd has a long criminal history.
He's already been to prison three times for several offenses, including assault and vandalism.

There was a high profile case of hamburger theft in Canada a few years back.
Police produced this composite sketch.

Edit: He was caught, convicted and received a hefty prison sentence. Was later stabbed to death with a shiv after he couldn't keep his hands off another inmate's buns.

Jebus, I would have expected a hardened criminal to know better. This sounds like something a punk kid being a jackass would pull.

I don't see how you could take this story seriously at all. Even though it involved alleged armed robbery it's about the theft of a humourous food object.

This further proves that understanding Tom's phallus joke, wrong, is irrelevant to the entire thread.
I still kind of find it rather funny to see two consenting adult share the same hot dog at the same time :P

Actually, when I first read your post, I thought you had 'got' Tom's joke and were making an effort to take this thread to strange, new places. It would seem that isn't the case, however...pity. You disappoint me, Yuki.

This thread is hilarious.
A man whipping out his gun and forcibly grabbing another man's sausage, gobbling it down... yeah, I didn't know you read those kinds of stories, Bernard. Nice to see your broadening your horizons. :P

like I said if your getting a year and a half just for stealing a hot dog what would it be like if you stole a hamburger or something. Its like "hey local man steals a hamburger gets hands chopped off :O"

Well, he DID steal it at gunpoint. Must've been desperate, I'd have let the guy have it, anyone brave enough to use a fake gun to steal a hot dog deserves it.

Why do you think the theft of a hamburger is more severe than the theft of a hotdog?
...
I can't believe I just asked that question.

^I was kind of wondering that too, since this is the second time she's mentioned that. Is there some kind of meat hierarchy I don't know about?

Well, I was taking it in that direction, but someone had to make a comment on it, so I took an alternative route to sabotage his elitist personalities.

By this logic, I should be serving 10 years to life for taking someone's shopping cart at the grocery store and someone's coffee at Starbucks.

LOL.
Actually both were accidents. I wasn't paying attention at the store and didn't realize I had another cart until I was halfway up the aisle.
And at Starbucks I drank something until I realized it wasn't mine.
