On Monday a woman in Indonesia broke her country's record for fattest baby, popping out a whopper of a kid who weighed a little over 19 lbs...

My GOD, I hope that was done via Cesarean...

I don't even think Reidar can lift that thing.

How'd a 3rd world country manage to challenge that record?

The mother has diabetes, so the foetus was exposed to a large amount of glucose, and ended up huge as a result. Is how they explained it on the news, anyway.

I don't think the mother "gave birth", per se. I think she just exploded one day, and this thing was left in her wake. It's sort of like a phoenix, except that instead of being reborn in its own ashes, she was reborn in her own entrails.
I'd like to be the first to coin a name for this new mythical creature: the Gorephynx.

I was like 9 pounds when I was born, but I was almost 2 feet long. I've always been tall, but this is ridiculous.

if it didn't hurt her, I'd say "damn loose chick is loose."

I was thinking more along the lines of Julius (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twins_%281988_film%29) except no miniature twin brother.

C Section. Momma probably would've been killed if she attempted to deliver that little giant naturally.

People, Cesarean, really. Y'all are talkin' as if the father's male genitalia weighs 19 pounds. :uhh:
My 6-month-old nephew is that weight. *Nods*

I was born via C-section. Looking back, I wish I'd have come out of the womb and said, "Et tu, brute?" after the doctor slapped me. Isn't that always the way? You always think of the good comebacks after it's too late to use 'em.

Meanwhile, every coach from the top 25 colleges in the States are planning to send represenatives to Indonesia to give him a scholarship as he's got future offensive lineman written all over him!

^ That's why I said he needs to get into sports. The only problem is that up until high school no league will accept him because of his size.

I converted the weight o kg, 8.6, that's like.. huge. A few weeks ago I delivered a baby that weighed 5 kg the old fashioned way (the mother casually didn't tell us she was a diabetic under very poor glucemic control). I needed two male residents to help me by pushing her belly after seeing an episiorraphy was going to be futile. The baby *finally* popped out and despite the over 1 hour sturggle to get it out of there at 2 am in the morning the baby was born pretty well. I think they still sent it to the baby ICU because macrosomic babies usually suffer from hypoglycemia (however a few weeks ago I saw a 4 kg lugger that wasn't shipped to the ICU which surprised me.. I sometimes refrained from senind babies under 4kg to the iCU if their glucose was okay and the ICU was filled, but 4 kg is an absolute indication).
Back to the mom, I still had to make a rather large episiorraphy and had a fine time stitching it all back together. Finished somewhere around 3:30 am and had to above all of it do all of the paperwork and glycemia blood tests for the mom.
Yeesh, she could have saved us from a huge annoyance if she had just told us she was diabetic. <_< I don't participate in C-sections unless officially instructed to be third assistant/instrumentist which hasn't happened yet.

That's something out of a comedy movie. That can't be real.
