Who? Ah, you young kids these days...

Mary Travers, of Peter Paul and Mary died at age 72. Leukemia.

It was my extreme pleasure to see PP&M perform in Hyannis, MA. A lovely little intimate venue with a circular stage that rotated to give everyone in the house a good seat. Not too big a crowd. It was an excellent performance, and everyone sang along.

Anyway, it's not just the 80's dying in 2009 - a big part of the 60's just passed away as well.

RIP madam, and thank you for your work.

If my parents didn't have some PP&M vinyl in their collection that I browsed through when I was younger, I doubt I'd know who you were talking about either. Also learned who Peter Nero and Johnny Mathis were, along with The Statler Brothers ('Flowers on the Wall' was old news to me when I heard it in Pulp Fiction, but even more unsettling since I was old enough to really understand the lyrics) and I forget who else...

"Lemon tree, very pretty, and the lemon flower is sweet..
... but the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat..."

Oh, a dreadful shame.
