It really matters. I don't see anything wrong in giving a relative a position in a company if you're high enough and they show the skills to handle it. I wouldn't give them any special preference after that, but I don't see the harm.

I mean as in giving your kid a high position right off.

Yeah, not a smart thing to do unless they've had the position somewhere else and have the experience.

Tried to see the movie Avatar today, but for some odd reason Twitards were all over the theater, and this was a movie theater on the other side of the city away from where I was encountering so many of them. There was a crapload of them, and they reeked! I walked past them and the smell was awful!

I'm gonna try to see it in the morning or at about noon next time.

It's all about confidence, Phrisky. This is comin' from a girl with just a tad too much booty, an plenty of confidence. There is nothing wrong with a person loving themselves no matter how big. Those women that dress provocatively and happen to be heavy aren't doing it so that you will look at them and like it, they are doing it because they have the confidence to reject what is socially acceptable, and make themselves happy.
If it makes a person happy, to flop their stomaches out, show their kankles, and heave their cleavage for the world to see, who are you to judge them, and say horrid things. Perhaps someone thinks the way you dress or look is disgusting, would you care about their opinion of you?
People get tired of feeling like the way they are is something to be ashamed of. Bravo to those brave enough to accept the way that they are, and love themselves for it. And shame on you for judging them. v.v

(That's a serious hot button issue for me, these guys act like everyone should dress according to what they like, no matter how someone else feels about it. Grr)

I was thinking the same thing just the other day. Whoever made the Roman calendar really screwed it up by putting winter first. Spring -> Summer -> Fall -> Winter always seemed like the logical order to me. Maybe it's just because winter starts at the end of the year.

I don't mind the new year starting in the middle of winter. Guess I'm just used to it I suppose. Y'know, that reminds me of the very early months of my career in the Navy when the first ship I was assigned to in late 1976 was stationed at Pearl Harbor. I remember it was terribly cold and snowy on that early December day when I left for Hawaii, but when I arrived, it was sunny and 80. Talk about being stunned! The culture and climatological shock was considerable. Took awhile to get used to that, especially on Christmas Day when I was building a snowman out of sand on Wakiki Beach. Ahh, memories!

Are you referring to shorthand slang? (I'm not entirely certain what to call it)

Kind of like, someone asks, "Yo, whattaya doin' tonight?"

And the person responds, "Drinking, going to the party at McKenzie's. You?"

Okay, I added more slang in there than needed, but basically the second guy leaves out the "I" the sentence. It's basically understood by everyone that you're referring to yourself.

Or in another example, a guy walks up to his buddies and says, "Man, got chewed out by the boss today! Needed that like I needed a hole in the head."

Is that what you're referring to?

No. I'm talking about people who consistently use you instead of I when obviously talking about their own idiosyncratic tastes, opinions, reactions and so forth.

You know how you I love this character despite him being a total jerk because you I think he's so cool.

I mean people who project their own opinions by saying 'you you you' when they are talking about themselves.

No. I'm talking about people who consistently use you instead of I when obviously talking about their own idiosyncratic tastes, opinions, reactions and so forth.

Ah, yes, that is annoying.

And holy jumping-jolly-jackaroo-Jesus-gorging-juicy-jujubes, SapperSix! Your avatar! It reminds me of the Langoliers (which, while a crappy movie, were pretty creepy in their own right... perhaps I'd enjoy the book more).

A sloppy, lazy, careless posting style often goes hand in hand with post content indicating sloppy, lazy and careless thinking.

I'm sorry I'm allergic to bull****.

I'm guessing you have to wear a protective mask while posting then.

Bah, it's nothing just getting my hand some well deserved exorcise, guess that means I'm out of shape for Thrash Metal.

There is really only one cure for that.

What the hell is with people coming on and demanding this and requiring that? I demand anime recommendations. I require that you tell me about this show? Demand? Require? Who the ****...

Why do people feel the need to specify that they want a good blahblahwhatever anime? Do they think we will assume they want a ****** one unless they specify this?

tenshi_a
January 12th, 2010, 01:35 AM
I think people must make recommendation threads right at the point of desperation when they've just watched something really bad, and decide that their own choosing skills are not good. So they say "recommend me a good series!" to contrast with what they just watched.
