That's an old school trick. The old lady that used to take of me while my parents worked was an old coon *** witch doctor she would do crazy things like nail toads to the fencepost to make it rain. She also used to take me out in the garden to help her and set up traps and pour beer into them. She always had the best tomatoes and strawberries because she used tricks like that and her hoodoo. You don't mess with hoodoo.

Yeah, I took another MOS on and became a 0431 my CO was so pissed that he made sure I got a ****** assignment on a converted liberty ship towing fuel, sonophone and money for the Kitty Hawk. Most of my lurid tales of Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia come from this period. After that I had an awesome *** desk job stamping approvals for repair requisitions and filing them. That was great until we got a flyboy CO who never did all the Oorah crap so instead of our usual paperwork done by noon and go ahead and go shoot or relax for the day it was up at 04:00 to run 15 miles with weekends given to camping expeditions. That was about maybe six months before my deployment ended. Then it was a quick tour of tour of the Balkans and the reserve until 2003.

Ooh so that's what you were afterwards. Those guys get sweet assignments if they go to a deployable unit...I never knew you went to Indo. Jakarta? Must've sucked being on the ship, but well worth it for all the traveling you got to do. Gotta love them pilots...either they're really skate or have Topgunitis. And they aaaaall love to run. lol

I knew an 0431 E-3 when I was at the Control Group. We took planes to all those countries, wore civilian clothes a lot of the time, stayed at nice hotels and didn't really answer to anybody except a civilian (the entire MEF hated us for it, but haters gonna hate). The lance was cocky, didn't care much for rank but definitely knew his stuff - went through infantry training but was made an 0431 because the Corps needed more at the time.

I was an 0231 my whole time in but now an 8411 in Wisconsin, voluntold but I'll be an E-6 or E-7 by the time I'm done so whatever.

Get some job exp. (or general life exp., doesn't matter so long as you get some sort of exp. here), go to community college (saves money!) or get an education (most important... doesn't matter how you do it. Spend all your days at the library if you have to.)

Also, stay with the parents until you graduate since that saves a ton in money. On the other hand, you push away the experience of living alone and making a buck. You could also join the military, but I'm Canadian so I'm not aware of the advantages of that. Your call. Just be smart about money, start saving, set goals, and get somewhere. You'll get there eventually so long as you work for it.
