this has been a big mystery to me for a very long time.
I think it involves a little bit jealousy mixed with personal pride to take in information about celebrities so those people who read it can try to be like said celebrities.
In other words people are just too damn naive.

BTW I just watched the entire set of Outlaw Star today, man now I just realized that the story is really messed up but in an interesting way.
Makes me wonder why there isn't a video game based on Grappler Ship fighting.

You gotta be careful though, some really hot women could turn out to be male, especially in some Asian countries like Thailand, or the Philippines. Alchohol plays a factorr too. Remember, situational awarness can and will save your life or your dignity.

Went out to a buffet at a casino. Food was excellent. However eating the chili was a fatal mistake.

It's all about living vicariously through the lives of their favorite celebrities. No big deal really. I'm sure plenty of people wonder why we're so crazy for those cartoons from Japan, so it works both ways. I only wish I had stock in the companies that produce all those celebrity mags and supermarket check-out line rags, I'd be a wealthy man!

he said he was either in the process of a sex change or just had one. I don't remember but either way he said hes a girl now.
on another note my brothers birthday is today so now its being made out to be like a national holiday almost because hes that tight about his birthday. Last night he went out wit a few friends so now moms all bent out 'a shape because he went to a club that was supposably a gay club. I don't know what you call a club if it says "alternative lifestyle" on it but hey thats his business I guess <,<
personally thats his fault for telling her because he should know by now that mom gets incredibly bent out 'a shape if not starts chastising something that she doesn't think is right. He told me to back him on that but I'm not having his back for something that coulda been easily avoided /swt

Here a lot of it on Sundays is church radio (not that I have anything against it, but after a while it becomes pretty annoying). Or some type of emotions show or 3 hour long advertising for something spiritual or feelings stuff, or "soft music". It's like this on almost every rock station in America. I don't want to wake up to soft music or people preaching about feelings or "The Good Book", that only forces me to not go back to sleep and makes me get up out of bed from annoyance.
On a side note I find it ironic actually how many people who you hear say "The Good Book" are preaching eternal damnation for anybody who doesn't have the exact same beliefs as them, even other people who believe in God and Jesus. Last time I checked Jesus did not preach a message of intolerance and hate.

The scary thing is that it's barely July, and that's when it hits past 110 on a regular basis. Sure there's no humidity which helps, but you can throw water on the sidewalk or road and it'll completely evaporate leaving no trace in like 5 minutes.
The record in Phoenix was set back in the 90s when it hit 120. People's shoes were melting because of how hot the ground was, you couldn't stand in one place for too long. Multiple people died because they had no air conditioning. Thankfully I wasn't there.

It may or may not. Something like this pops up every once in a while without anything being released. There may be something already in Brazil. There is a problem in the disregard in the importance of this. It always turns into whether or not this will be good for women but it's shouldn't about women at all. It's should be about men controling their own fertility and reproductive sovereignty. The big companies drag their feet over it and drop the programs because they don't think there is money in it. The problem is basically people's perceptions about the whole thing.

I think people just refrigerate beer so it tastes better, not because it keeps longer.
After a very long time beer separates out and you get bits that sink to the bottom, but that's like, after a few years.

Arrogant Bastard is good beer, but you know, one of the draws of a beer like Guinness (Boddingtons also) is that they are Nitrobrewed, which by the way, almost completely eliminates hangovers.

And what do you mean not threatening? Have you forgotten the batshit insane fangirls? Go up to a large group of them at a con and do something like insult Kyo from Fruits Basket. Or better yet go into a large panel full of a ton of them and yell out an insult about a bishie character, then taunt them. You'll have to run for your life.
Or simply cosplay a character adored by fangirls, and pray the resulting glomps kill you quickly.

Lul, applied for my firearm license today just for lulz. Don't even intend to actually own one. Took the test, 98% on it. 3 months and it should arrive. They regulate the hell out of them up here though. Center-Fire ammunition is illegal (rimfire only), no automatic magazines larger than 30 rounds (again, only rimfire), handguns require a restricted license whereas rifles of any type (level, hinge, pump, semi, bolt) are "unrestricted" but still take more paperwork than an immigration visa to receive.
What cracked me up the most was the manual the RCMP mandates on firearm operation/maintenance/safety/ has some elementary-level examples in it.
"Example of Firearm accident due to improper transporation:
A boy is carrying a rifle with the trigger crooked under his arm, and the rifle goes off, injuring his brother."

They should teach the 4 safety rules, and the 4 weapons conditions(9 times out of 10 condition 2 will not apply).

June 30th, 2010, 09:20 PM
When I went to junior high, everyone had to take a gun safety course. It was required. I have never bothered to get a license. I don't really feel a need for one and, once all the costs are considered, it gets expensive. Of course I would want to get training and practice regularly.
Schadenfreude
June 30th, 2010, 09:21 PM
@S6 I don't know what those are (The manual goes about things in a different way) but there is more than enough coverage in the 150-odd pages that even lack of common sense can't be blamed for misuse. Up here you just can't legally get your hands on a firearm without taking a safety course and registering both for a license and then registering the firearm and so on so forth. It's really hard for a legally acquired firearm to go off and not have the government know about it since even ammunition is regulated and linked to your license at purchase here in Ontario.

Safety rules are:
treat every weapon as if it were loaded.
never point your weapon at any thing you intend to shoot.
keep your weapon on safe until you intend to fire.
keep your finger strait and off the trigger until you are ready to fire.
Weapons conditions are strait forward, but I'll use a pistol as an example:
condition 4 is magazine removed, no round in chamber, slide forward, weapon on safe
condition 3 is the same as 4, but with a magazine inserted.
condition 2 does not apply.
condition 1 is same as 3, but with a round in the chamber.
Even the bootest Marines can understand these rules.

That's what I was taught back in junior high. I don't remember if they described weapon conditions that way but there was something along those lines.

A nasty piece of malware called "Hijack.ControlPanelStyle" which was discovered by the "Quick Scan" in MalwareBytes Anti-Malware. I had a malware scanner but it doesn't seem to detect that one. :o
What's really funny is that some Google results say it's not necessarily malware, just some bad settings that shouldn't affect anything much. Still, either that or something else I did has fixed it. :D

Depends on which version of Micheal you're looking at, I do admit that the old school pre to mid 1980s Micheal was not that bad looking.
But of course he had to go insane like all musicians do when they're full of that green paper stuff.
