On October 9th, NASA will begin our assult against the Moonites!
NASA's Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite (LCROSS) is racing toward a double-impact on the moon at 7:30 am EDT on Oct. 9th. Today NASA announced exactly where the crash will take place.
The target crater is Cabeus A. It was selected after an extensive review of the best places to excavate frozen water at the lunar south pole

So we'll have more bombs popping up around the world after this?

If I remember my Space:1999 correctly, making things go BOOM! on the moon is a bad plan. Didn't work out well in Cowboy Bebop, either.

Specifically to excavate water ice. If there's a significant enough amount of water ice present in a single location on the lunar surface it will make travel t other planets (In particular, Mars) much cheaper and much easier.

It's clearly a plot by the Space Defense Front. Clearly. Don't worry, INTO will handle things.

So now is a good time to point out the movie "Time Machine". We all remember what happens at that part of the movie.

Yes I am serious.
In the second tournament there was a reverse-werewolf who got all annoyed at Master Roshi for blowing it up, because it meant he was stuck as a wolf all the time.

Is he serious about a character blowing up a large ball of rock in space? Why wouldn't he be? that is the workings of fiction in anime, anything could happen.
Same with wishing it back, and then blowing it up again, hehe.
And believe me blowing up the Moon by a single energy blast from an old guy's fist, isn't even the oddest thing that happens in the DBZ storyline.

Mikosage is a professional sand sculptor.
And the Moonites shot first with their Quad Laser. We are just finishing them off before they learn to aim.

Resurecting this thread because the day has come. Tonight at 4:20 am PT, LCROSS will doulbe bomb the moon. The crash should be visiable from ground based telescopes. NASA TV and its affiliates should be carrying it live.

Yeah, I like this. This is exactly what's going to happen as it happened thousands of years ago to Neo-Queen Serenity, the princess, and her people. These people who are going to blow it up really are evil.
Seriously, I don't like the sound of this, and who knows if it will have a negative reaction with the Earth. Dumb NASA government controlled people.

I remember this thing. I tracked this when it launched from Cape Canaveral. It was built with commercially available, pre-existing parts at a relatively low cost. The impact really has no greater effect than that of the average meteorites that impact the moon all the time. Apparently the results of this mission would help determine whether a moon base would be feasible in the future....
.....either that or it's a preemptive strike on the mooninites. If that's the case, we have nothing to fear. The Aqua Teen Hunger Force already dealt with them.;)
