View Full Version : Scientist prove women have faces!

Will the wonders of the modern age never cease?

Scientific proof that men look at women's breasts first and their face is almost last (http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/lifestyle/scientific-proof-that-men-look-at-womens-breasts-first-and-their-face-is-almost-last/story-e6frf00i-1225770286482)

Researchers found that virtually half - 47 per cent - of men first glance at a woman’s breasts.

A third of the "first fixations" are on the waist and hips, while fewer than 20 per cent look at the woman's face.

Not only are breasts often the first thing men look at, they also glance at them for longer than any other body part, the experts discovered, the Daily Mail newspaper in the UK reported.

It’s thought that the reason might be evolutionary, as women with larger chests and slim waists - such as Jennifer Hawkins, Lara Bingle and Rachael Finch - have higher levels of the female hormone oestrogen, indicating greater fertility.

But the researchers conceded that there could be a more prosaic explanation.

"Men may be looking more often at the breasts because they are simply aesthetically pleasing, regardless of the size," they said.

Subjects tested by researchers from New Zealand’s University of Wellington were presented with six images of the same woman, digitally altered to increase or decrease the size of her bust, waist and hips.

The scientists recorded which areas men looked at first, the number of times they looked, and how long their gaze lasted, using cameras and mirrors to measure tiny eye movements.

"Eighty per cent of first fixations were on the breasts and midriff. Men spent consistently more time looking at the breasts and also made significantly more fixations upon them than other regions," the study concluded.

It also found that men began to gaze at the "components of the hourglass figure" within 0.2 seconds.

The research also discovered that few glances were directed at the arms, lower legs and feet.

you didn't read it right....less then 20% look at the face first, just because only 47% looked at the rack first doesn't mean the other 53% looked at the Face :P

And even if they have a huge rack if the face is busted it still doesn't work, but you still looked at the rack first :P

The only time I glance at a woman's face, is to make sure those breasts are attached to a woman.

And don't get me wrong sometimes those dudes who go through sex changes are freakishly feminine and can throw me off.
----------------

Actually to be honest, a woman's face has two categories, Meowishly adorable or Jaba the Hut repulsive. usually on the fat ones who live in red neck country.

And I do look at the cute faces a lot, and get turned on by them.

The first thing I look at in a woman is her personality.

that is lol worthy only becuase some times always you can never anticipate a woman's personality. A woman's personality isn't massively obvious on the outside of her body like those breasts of hers. Sometimes you live with them for a long time (years even) knowing she's in love, and then BAMM! You wake up and she's gone.

But you know what? If birds didn't spreading their wings to displaying their beautiful array of colorful feathers to attract a mate. I would have felt bad knowing that the first thing I look for in a woman is how big her cup size is.

Honestly, the only way to describe guys who look at the chest first is that they view women as objects. I know I'm stating the obvious here but there's simply no other way to describe it.

I don't think that's true. What you notice first doesn't mean anything. If it does, what does it mean when women notices a man's shoes at a first impression?

That she cares about a man's sense of style, which is an inner feature. Whereas looking at a girl's boobs first is a superficial perception because most females don't have control over how big their chests are anyway; it's objectifying no matter how you look at it because why else is a guy going to be looking at a girl's chest first anyway? Footwear you can go and choose which one you like best and look after it and, for me personally, it usually says a lot about someone's organisation and overall neatness.

Oh and to be an *** man isn't playing it objectively?

Honestly I look at the breasts first then the face, becuase if neither are a perfect match, I'm just that small percentage that prefers both.

Woman can be objects no matter how you look at them, ugly face, hot face, nice rack, flat chested, doesn't matter. If it's not the mind you're interested in then you're just in it for the sex and a little milk.

I am absurdly picky too so I'm going to be looking for a long time.

Oh and to be an *** man isn't playing it objectively?

I quoted 'more of an *** man' in other words I prefer a curvy backside over big boobs (I hardly care about big boobs in the first place), I didn't mean that I look specifically at the *** first (although if I saw a girl's back before I saw her front what choice do I have...).

Also I don't get selective over girls that do and don't have nice bodies. Sure I like to speculate over these things but it's hardly ever a deciding factor in my eyes; it's simply a bonus. I've been with my share of girls who don't have much to offer in terms of having a nice *** or much of a figure at all, but it never mattered because they had other things to offer than the simple superficial aspects this 'study' claims most guys are obsessive over.

Don't misinterpret what I'm saying here and assume I have no standards though.

Females don't have control over how pretty they are either. It'd be nice if everyone would judge everyone else purely by their facial expression but we don't. Sense of style is not always just an inner feature, it's also an indicator of wealth and affluence.

A guy is going to look a girl's breasts because the are aesthetically pleasing and there's likely a biological instinct in men to assess women in regards to sexual attractiveness and availability.

Are you going to have a conversation with the breasts? Your standpoint is reasonable to an extent but it's simply disrespectful and objectifying to a female to place so much emphasis on her boobs because of the connotation that goes with that perception as well. Looking at the face first is not only a sign of respect but also one of admiration as you're at least looking to converse with the girl on a serious level and not just think how can she benefit your penis (unless you have quite a wild imagination when looking at every girl's face).

Sense of style is not always just an inner feature, it's also an indicator of wealth and affluence.

Again this is reasonable to an extent but I disagree. Style and wealth don't have as much of a correlation as you think it does. Just because someone is wearing expensive clothing by no means does it equal style; true style is in the person wearing the clothing and what kind of image they're trying to portray. I've seen plenty of people - who are as poor if not more poor than me - dressed in the most fabulous way even though the total amount of everything they're wearing equals to less than £100. It's about having that 'eye' for it so to speak.

Who says there needs to be a conversation? There's a difference between looking at a stranger or a picture and approaching someone you mean to talk to. I don't think it's objectionable to admire a person's looks and only that. People are more than minds. I'm not obligated to be intellectually interested in every person I see. Of course, if you're talking to a woman while not making eye contact, that is rude and disrespectful but I don't see how the way your eyes are drawn to assess a woman objectifies her. I would only think that if a man looked at her breasts and, if unsatisfied, just ignored her at that. You can't objectify someone by looking at one part of them a split second before another.

I think that the manner in which you visually assess someone is a biological instinct. For both men and women. Whether you objectify someone or not is decided in how you choose to act on that assessment.

Again this is reasonable to an extent but I disagree. Style and wealth don't have as much of a correlation as you think it does. I agree but dressing a stylish manner still does give the appearance of affluence.

This is kind of irrelevant though...

I always look at her butt first...

That is impossible as it would imply that you've never, ever looked at a woman unless you've approached her from behind.

Of course there's nothing wrong with admiring a person's looks but when you set standards based specifically on superficial features such as big breasts, that's the kind of outlook that is objectionable. And no you're not inclined to be intellectually interested in everyone you see fair-play, but just because you don't intend to have any interaction with the person doesn't mean one has to ignore the fact that she is also a human being and someone's daughter at the very least.

Of course, if you're talking to a woman while not making eye contact, that is rude and disrespectful...

At the same time prolonged eye contact can come across as rude and just plain weird as well. Compromising a balance between the amount of eye contact you should and shouldn't make is important; timing is also essential.

I would only think that if a man looked at her breasts and, if unsatisfied, just ignored her at that. You can't objectify someone by looking at one part of them a split second before another.

But that was never my point. A split second or so is fine as we are only human we can't always fight off curiosity, but as I said it's when guys place emphasis on a necessity for women to have big breasts and the such that is objectifying.

...dressing a stylish manner still does give the appearance of affluence.

It's not about what you wear but how you wear it.

Face first, then move down. Although it depends on what I see first. If I see the body and like it, I want to see the face. If I see the face first, look at everything else. And if she's largely overweight, that's the end of that. Same if the girl has no chest.

If the woman has an OK face and a really good body, that's good. But if the girl has a great body and a face that makes you leap back in a shock of horror...yea um no. The girl doesn't have to be completely hot though. Cute or just attractive is also good.

The things some people need to mentally separate in this thread are:

1) initial perceptions of an individual

2) conscious evaluation of an individual

What this study covers is the former. What most people are talking about in terms of "what's important" is the latter. Talking about the latter is all kinds of touchy-feely, politically correct stuff, while the former stuff is primal and instinctual - where people look before before they even consciously realize they're looking at a person.

Hey guys, you know what this stuff tells you? It's just a bunch of percentages but it tells you that the men who look whatever body parts first... are all normal. Ok? You don't need to tell other guys that they're doing it wrong or they're crazy for having different parts that they find more important when it comes to attractiveness. You are all normal.

However, if you think of a woman as being nothing but the first thing you looked at, especially she is attempting to communicate with you, you're nothing more than a mindless pair of hairy balls and are really rather pathetic.

This is linked to this recent piece of research:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/6132718/Men-lose-their-minds-speaking-to-pretty-women.html

The research shows men who spend even a few minutes in the company of an attractive woman perform less well in tests designed to measure brain function than those who chat to someone they do not find attractive.

Researchers who carried out the study, published in the Journal of Experimental and Social Psychology, think the reason may be that men use up so much of their brain function or 'cognitive resources' trying to impress beautiful women, they have little left for other tasks.

The findings have implications for the performance of men who flirt with women in the workplace, or even exam results in mixed-sex schools.

Women, however, were not affected by chatting to a handsome man.

This may be simply because men are programmed by evolution to think more about mating opportunities.

From which I deduce that several gentlemen on this forum must be endlessly surrounded by beautiful women.

What did you look at first? face, boobs, butt, or body?

EDIT:
yes, those things on her chest are rediculously huge for someone her size.
Face...but thats not fair, because I wasn't scrolled all the way down.

^^This^^

look, what you people are talking about has nothing to do with the article, you simply do not know what you look at first, you know what you consider more important, you know what you consciously look at AFTER you've looked at whatever you look at first, but what you look at first is a mystery to YOU, unless you get tested....there is a scientific reason men look at women's chests first, it's instinctual, the best part of this is, I'm willing to bet, those posters that are trying to call other posters shallow for looking at a women's chest first probably do so themselves as well without knowing it.

My name is Rurouni Saiyan and I love boobies.

But in seriousness, I've looked at my fair share of boobs and I have no regrets. Why should I? Thing is, people are visual creatures. The first thing that stands out to someone is gonna get your attention, simple as that.

Just my $0.02

EDIT: From what I've read some time ago, the biological directive behind boobs is as follows. Larger boobs = better fertility. In our primal days, a woman who was well endowed was better equipped for giving birth to healthy children, since pregnancy is taxing on the female body and larger breasts = larger fat deposits = more energy to draw from. All this is assuming the woman is natural. All bets are off for silicon sisters.

Boobs are best when they are in proper proportion to the body. Size is overrated. Shape and symmetry are more important.

I mean, what kind of person would be so shallow as to pay attention to just size?

It isn't anything like Eiken unless the breasts are made out of Play-Doh. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with the animators on that series? I can speak from personal experience to say that you should never be able to leave a handprint impression on a breast.

I met this girl today (well, I've known her kinda-sorta for a long time, but we spoke formerly today) and she was wearing a plaid shirt with no bra, and I'll admit she has a sizable rack. I definitely noticed.

Anyways, around the time that I noticed this, I remembered this thread and I lol'd at that moment.

As a guy, I don't think there's anything wrong with noticing such features on a woman, but I do happen to think its quite obnoxious to just sit there and stare. I mean, looking at a pair of breast can only do so much for me. It's much more engaging to talk to the person that the pair belongs to.

It's interesting to look at, but who can handle that much? That's like, several hands full. I could use those things as king-sized pillows. Fuko would think I'm rude, but I'm sure the confusion would be understandable.

You have to perform the law of averages. If her chest and body are OK then it is your patriotic duty as a citizen and as a Marine to cover her face with a flag and tap it for your Uncle Sam!

Nay I say. The standards have been raised since I was a young troop. Either hoooot or nothing. I'm tired of everybody and their mom trying to convince me I have to settle for a fugly swamp donkey who "has a great personality..."

Something I also picked up from another forum (along with my swamp donkey reference),

It's interesting, to me, how females stationed on Okinawa take advantage of the man to woman ratio on the island (like 100:1). Back in the states, maybe they were a 4 or a 5, and now that they're in Okinawa, they automatically become a 9 or a 10. Heard the story of another guy who watched a couple of female service women types turn away like, 10 dudes at the Camp Hansen Palms one night, probably to get a feel for what it's really like to turn guys down. So yeah...no wonder a lot of guys, if they end up with a girlfriend here, end up being with a Japanese.

"The hottest female on Camp Hansen" is like "being the smartest kid in the class trying to get a GED."
