ACK! Glad you're ok! What happened? It looks like it was raining hard...

No, that photo isn't my car, I just googled Car Crash. My car is in a similar state though. I have no idea what happened, one moment I was driving and the next I was trying to regain control and then drove through a fence.

Oh dear, I guess part of your car must've broken or something? Well, it has now.

I don't drive, I live in a city with decent public transport so I use that. I've been in 2 buses that have had minor crashes.

One was scraping a car - the drivers exchanged insurance details and that was it. The other was where the bus driver was trying to leave the bus station and reversed into a brick wall. That was a bit embarrassing for him.

One time I saw a bus driver take the rear end of his bus over the top of a car. He took the corner way too wide. The owner of the car was in hysterics.

Maybe the road is slippery from the rain, and your car swerved out of control. o_o

Glad that you are OK though. ^-^

Most likely hydroplaning. It happens in wet conditions. Your tires are sliding on a layer of water instead of rolling on the road and you lose control.

I hit black ice and flipped my car over once. I had a little bruise where the seatbelt was and a $500 deductible. The insurance company paid $5,000 dollars.

I was declared not at fault so my rates didn't even go up.

I was kind of shaky for a while after that though.

I'm not sure how an Elvis song became a tag for this thread...

On the subject, my brother (who just got his liscence and a new car) crashed his car into a traffic light a few months back.

I think he can realte to the troubles you're going through.

Wow. At least that wasn't you plough.

Who else has had "the pleasure"

I've had the 'pleasure' twice. Once was when I was 14 when the driver of the car spun out of control at 70mph on a wet surface eventually crashing the passenger's side of the car into a brick wall. My head went through the window and into the wall, which ironically prevented my neck completely scraping through the window. There was about 7 or 8 small-but-prickly shards of glass stuck in the back of my neck which had to be pulled out at the hospital and of course required stitches, and I've had scars running down the back of my neck ever since. The other time was a high speed crash at about 95mph but this time I wore a seatbelt :). Both times I was the passenger.

I've only been involved in a crash as a passenger, and it wasn't too bad. The headlights and the bumper got smashed up a bit, and the windscreen was smashed, but from what I recall the rest of the car wasn't too bad. It involved a drunken pedestrian walking out into the road without warning.

Hey - at least you were in a car. In my last crash, I wasn't.

The moral: Never bring a bicycle to a car fight.

Glad to hear you're okay, though. It'll rattle you for a bit, but that's natural and it'll pass.

Glad to hear that you're OK.

I've totalled 2 cars. Once when I was in college and had someone come across the center line and hit me head on at about 50mph and the second time I got hit from behind and rammed into lane divider on the D.C. Beltway at the height of evening rush on a Friday. Luckily, no one was hurt either time. Thank God for airbags . . . .

What's a guy like you doing with a car like that? No off fence but that's not the car I was expecting you to drive.

This goes for motorcycles too,

In that case I would rather be on the Bicycle, depending on the type of Car vs, bicycle encounter.

Me? I have a perfect driving record... minus a pull over for suspicion of drugs and weapons.

Having gone through two such encounters, I can honestly say I cannot envision the Car Vs. Bicycle encounter in which I would rather be the cyclist.

As for car<->car collisions, I've been in the following:

- Oldsmobile (me) versus Snowplow. I lost. Badly. To say that my car was totaled (with me in it) is to miss an opportunity to use the word 'savaged'.

- Dodge Omni (me, as passenger) versus Lincoln Continental. We lost. The Lincoln t-boned us in my passenger door. My head hit my window, then the opposite door, all in milliseconds.

- Ford Pickup versus Van. Minor scrape.

- Toyota Tacoma vs. Deer. It was a draw. I won the first round, but it ran away once it regained consciousness.

I also nearly ran over myself in a pickup truck. That's not a typo, nor an exaggeration. Don't ask. It's complicated.

But I'm suggesting that, well, if it were a Motorcycle, in the same situation, I don't think I would be alive to tell the story after that...

Thanks.

As for airbags, my car apparently has them, but they didn't go off. I guess I didn't hit the fence hard enough.

Dude can you read? I posted that that's NOT my car, that's just a pic from Google Images.

I do in fact drive a snow plough. There were no survivors.

Same here, except I was on foot. You've never been hit hard until you get hit by a Chrysler Sebring at 35 mph. I've hated them since.

So lets see, I've hit a car going across the road to the other lane, I've had my side view mirror ripped off, a work truck hit my car and left, and I've gotten into a fight with a giant American sedan that weighs well over 3,000 pounds.

I've earned my Team Yukari membership.

I'm fine. But my car isn't.

Well, that's the important thing. Cars are replaceable after crashes, people aren't. I'm just glad you're okay.
