Space Runaway Ideon

[The Million Dollar Prons]

I heard about this show called "Space Runaway Ideon," and well I was a little skeptical at first. With an epic title like "Space Runaway" how can they possibly live up to the name? Let's face it, Space Runaway implies epicness, like they've done SO MUCH crap that they have to escape. FROM SPACE.

And even though I was skeptical at first, I was instantly proved wrong.


These colonists end up digging up some HUGE robot and they're all "Woah cool" a robot, but then these aliens called the Buff Clan show up and start blowing everything up, and so the colonists flea the planet, and thus it begins.


The series is somewhat slow paced but very intriguing. As the story progresses the Ideon crew goes from planet to planet and the Buff Clan keep chasing them, eventually every planet they go to is like "N Go away you brining us WAR and we don't want your WAR." It really adds a lot of drama and a tinge of desperation and hopelessness.


The series ends kind of out of no where, but they fixed it by having two movies that fill in what was supposed to happen. The second movie was kind of violent.


All in all, I give this series a 10/10, what do you guys think?

I consider it a classic. If you have noticed other mech series have been influenced by Ideon. I agree the ending was not so good with the tv series since it was canceled after it's original run..sort of like Gundam. The movies especially the second one gives us the ending. I will add that this series is extremely dark and gloomy. I guess Tomino was depressed.

Even though I shouldn't participate in a 2nd necromancy, I find it somewhat amusing that Prons' apparent self-promotion failed to generate any discussion.

Ideon's just one of the dozens of fansubs I've downloaded over the years and have yet to watch. I'll move it further up the list if you can guarantee me some bouncing exposed breasts, because I'm otherwise relatively uninterested in SR/M...

I enjoyed the score for this series more so then I do the actual show itself. Ideon had an epic orchestra behind it for those two film's.

I'm 10 Episodes in, and I could barely get myself to stop. It's a pretty compelling show. Certainly not the best I've seen, but I love it so far. The story, the action, the senselessness of both sides in a slowly escalating war...:D I can't wait to see how it ends!

Ideon would have been better if it was like 15 episodes shorter. It was so repetitive. The movie is awesome though.

Yeah, I remember Shin-getter Fansubs. They split up before they could finish subbing Heavy Metal L-Gaim, the jerks. I heard it was because they lost the guy who was in charge of Oxnardulation.

While I very much appreciate Shin-getter for doing & completing the fansubs, they could have done better. I couldn't stand the quality so I stopped watching.

First of all, why use hard subs? Not to mention they'd keep changing the font, sometimes to very small. With soft subs the viewer can adjust them to their preference and they just look better than subtitles burned into the video.

Next is the video quality. They did improve as they went, however the video was still really poor. The video wasn't taken from the Japanese DVD's, probably bootleg or laserdisc.

Now if Shin-getter was ever to revive and add their subtitles to the Japanese DVD video instead of whatever they used before then I think that would be amazing.

Its still great to have the fansubs however, better than what we had before(that incomplete bootleg).
