I felt like putting up a thread in tribute to the chapter which featured what is arguably the most heroic moment in One Piece thus far. And even if it wasn't THE most heroic moment it is still going to be up there. And I would have never expected it would have come from a character I once decided was the creepiest character in the series.

Oda never kills anyone. It is starting to annoy me.I got to say I don't feel the same way. In something like Bleach it feels annoying and cheap but in One Piece it's just different. Like say just recently when Kuma started offing Straw hats left and right. I knew they weren't going to die, but I'll be damned if my heart didn't sink as if they actually were killed off. Luffy's reaction to the whole thing didn't help either. Oda just does it so well that he doesn't even have to kill anyone to get the point across. And hey you still have your flashback deaths.:P

True. Still, if Bon Clay ISN'T dead, I'm going to find it as anti-climactic and dissapointing as finding out Mwu La Flaga survived in Gundam SEED. Things like this are epic and heroic BECAUSE the character died. If Bon Clay survives, it kind of ruins the idea of his sacrifice.

Which is why I'm really hoping Oda decides to make an exception for once.

I don't really care whether Oda kills a character or not, since what I enjoy is the moment itself. So Bon-chan's moment of sacrifice was just done awesomely well. If he's killed, he's killed. If he's not killed, he'll be locked up in level 6. There's also the possibility of another escape via Blackbeard or whatever, but that wouldn't diminish this moment in the series at all.

Ace is not Luffy's brother and he is Roger's son. Garp raised him after Roger begged him to after surrendering. Appearences by Colby and Helmeppo too.

I stared at the page in surprised shock and then ruminated about various parts during the manga that relate to this. That alone made this chapter epic, but seeing the forces of Marineford really got me excited about how this next arc is going to turn out. It's going to be a huge battle... unless Oda decides to just end the arc by actually executing Ace.

Although Ace speaks of his ambition to make Whitebeard the Pirate King, Whitebeard acutally wants to help Ace become the Pirate King.

Luffy had met Ace at 3-5 years of age, and hence might realise that they are not related by blood.

The Marines already knew that Ace was Gol D. Roger's son 2 years after Ace left the village, but he was already under Whitebeard's charge.

The Gates of Justice are blown open by Whitebeard's crew, allowing Luffy's crew to charge in. Whitebeard's ship has broken the perimeter already.

Whitebeard's ship emerges from the waters, followed by the 14 division captains on 3 ships. Whitebeard disembarks alone.

The Shichibukai face off against 5-6 pirate crew captains from the New World. It turns out that they are allies with Whitebeard.

Garp remembers Portgas D. Rogue's face.

Some dialog from the end of the chapter:

"My dear son is safe, isn't he?"

Great chapter and I would say it took most people by surprise.

I cannot wait to see this Arc animated.

With this chapter's events, I wonder if this changes the prospects of Whitebeard dying as I have been convinced he would.

Will be interesting to see where the next chapter goes. I could easily see the next chapter taking a break from Marineford and doing the whole "whereabouts of the crew" theme.

But realistically, I don't see the Strawhats appearing in the Manga until the Luffy and New World Pirates escape.

Oda's art has been in top forum this arc. In this issue the picture of Blackbeard using his Yami Yami and Gura Gura powers together and several shots of Akainu are beautifully rendered. The story as always ramps up the epic just when you think it can't be upped anymore. Dammit I feel sorry for the people who don't read this manga.

Not until the 400's, you got a lot a awesome and epic to get through. Keep in mind that One Piece is one big story told in the past tense when narration occurs. It's the biggest difference between Oda and artist Kubo or Kishimoto, no *** pulls or emo whining while they dither on were the story should go. Oda already knows.

Since the arc is over I have to say this is the first one were week after week I kept saying this is the best thing ever only to be outdone by the next week. Since there is no chapter this week we all get to wonder if there will be a time skip.

Boa Hancock is one of my three favourite OP characters. She is simply irresistible. Goddessofanime, don't get yourself spoiled by reading current arcs/story events/plots. Start from the very beginning and catch up. There is a mountain load to cover. And, if you like Luffy, there will be plenty of moments where you'll automatically start cheering for the lad. Like Bernard said, the future in OP seems to consistently surpass the present in greatness.

I think you could say the series started off as a kid's fantasy, but progressively matures in real-time. By now, I'd say OP is "an older teen". Perhaps it'll be "an adult" by the series' end?

I find his realization quite interesting and unusual for a shounen. Not so much what it is, but the way it's portrayed. It has a very subtle, mature side to it that only real life can have you experience. I'm impressed. One Piece is one of the very few manga that has managed to pull my emotional strings.

God-damn, but Oda is a genius at everything he does. I really wish I could use a time machine to read the rest all in one sitting. It's that good.

More than likely Gorousei and the others will pick Akainu as the successor, since he's the one that believes in absolute justice the most, easily making him their tool, and what more than a perfect choice for him, since he's the guy who killed Portgas D. More than likely yes. Blackbeard's powers from the Yami Yami fruit have to do with black holes and gravity, and Capone and his crew were apparently sucked up into some sort of gravity ball. Makes sense too since all these recent events seem to be happening around the same time.

Tattoo on his arm had 3D2Y, with the 3D crossed out. Meaning that they'll meet back up at the meeting spot in 2 years instead of 3 days like they were planning. This chapter looks awesome. Zoro is going to be personally trained by Mihawk and Luffy is getting personal training from Rayleigh and Rayleigh is teaching Luffy about Haki.

If they really do a month break from the manga, then this is perfect timing for it with there being a 2 year time skip in the story. Looking really forward to what the One Piece world will be like after that 2 year time skip. I can imagine a lot of changes to the Marines. I bet Buggy will indeed be a Shichibukai and be world renowned because of his status and being a former Roger crewmate. Perhaps Blackbeard will have achieved Yonkou status by that point as well. The Mugiwaras are going to be a hell of a lot stronger by the time they go to the New World. YEEEAHHH!

Yes, it is explained in the chapter instead of meeting 3 days in the Shabody Archipelago like they did when they were trying to escape Kizaru and the Pacifistas they will meet there in 2 years.

Everyone is ar Shabody, there are fake strawhats useing the crews rep to recruit (fat not Luffy got 2 captains to join him one with a 270 million and one with a 190 million berry bounty), They do not show Zorro or Franky. DuVal is in a body cast from fighting off bounty hunters and other pirates off the Sunny. Marine Headquarters has moved from Marine Ford to the new world so it may be that Akainu is the new fleet admiral.

If you want to know how much better One Piece is than Naruto or Felch three separate websites were crashed due to the server being overloaded from spoilers. Arlong Park, One Manga, and Manga Helpers all went down after the reveal.

I am probably one of the few who thinks that the only image of new Zoro has his arm behind his body. He still has all three swords if you study that picture to! It's questionable if he is blind in one eye. I honestly don't think so, but who knows what training with the best swordsman can do to you? Especially within two years.

I think everyone has a lot of new tricks that I am very anxious to see and learn about. I bet Franky is super-modifying the Thousand Sunny with the information he learned on that one island.

I wonder what Franky's new body mods are... Clearly much BIGGER arms. He also doesn't have any hair, so he can't tell if he runs out of cola? Maybe he found an alternate energy source? Root Beer (joke)? Unlimited energy?

Theory 1) Zoro's scar is somewhat fresh and still healing. Shanks has a scar over his eye, Rayleigh has a scar over his eye. I have a feeling that he'll be able to open it again after some time passes.

Like that Luffy has a 400,000,000 bounty now. Now he surpasses all the Supernovas and even the Shichibukai in terms of bounty. He's well worth that bounty though since Impel Down and Marineford, plus the Navy and the Government all know he's Dragon's son and has the Haoushoku Haki now. Loved seeing him knock out the fake Luffy, Sogeking, Franky, and Nami with his haki.

I imagine Luffy is probably on par bounty wise with guys like the top captains in the Whitebeard crew like Marco, Jozu, or Vista. the Caribou brothers are not fodder, one is a Logia and they want to kill the Strawhats and are in hot pursuit. Luffy's hat was originally Rogers, Poor Kuma, Luffy and Zorro have not changed at all.

Moh Moo is pulling the Caribou's ship he sees Sanji and Luffy and freaks so only Caribo (the captain) makes it over. He is scared of the SH's and lies there is a giant beast called the Kraken that has been eating ships, Luffy wants to tame it.

Yeah, I also noticed Oda even takes the time to draw fish in the background even when their is no background to speak of unlike some artist who never ever draw backgrounds unless forced to at gunpoint. No chapter next week so I get to troll Bleach full tilt.
