Police call it bold and bizarre. The victim certainly couldn't believe it.

19-year-old Jesse Phoutthaphaphone was in the front room of his North Minneapolis home near 26th and Penn. He was sitting by a cracked window to catch a little breeze while he was typing on his MySpace page, using his laptop computer.

"I was typing and all of the sudden just woosh! I was like oh, what the hell?" Phoutthaphaphone said.

"This is clearly a real desperate act, I mean he (the suspect) stole the computer out of his hands while he's in his house," Minneapolis Police Sgt. Jesse Garcia explained.

"He was probably just creeping right here, I was typing, and then all of the sudden he just yanked it," the victim remarked. He only saw the suspect's hands; then saw his back as he ran around the corner of his home.

Phoutthaphaphone was in his boxers, without any shoes or socks on. Didn't matter; he ran through a couple of yards as he chased after the suspect who still had the laptop.

"A lot of things can happen around here, you can't let anybody just take your stuff like that," he said.

Phoutthaphaphone chased the suspect to a home a few blocks away, where the suspect had run into a garage to hide. That homeowner saw him run into the unlocked garage, so he jumped in to help Jesse.

"Kicked the garage door open and the guy tried to rush out and we both hit him and he dropped the laptop, it was flying and then bam... broke!" Jesse said.

The two men say they held the suspect down for five minutes until police arrived. Lionel Green has been charged with 2nd degree burglary.

"This wasn't even a crime of opportunity. They caught him and now the only window he's going to be reaching through is a window with bars," Garcia concluded.

Of course, the really important question in this whole case is: How the hell do you pronounce that guy's name? "Phoutthaphaphone"? What is that, martian?

Yeah, that's a pretty wild last name.

EDIT: I'm sure even by Martian standards.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that this guy is either Thai or Laotian.

Poo-ta-fa-phone or Poot-tha-fa-phone...

Who knows.

My Aunt once saw someone steal her bicycle and ride off with it. She chased him down on foot and cornered the guy in an alleyway. He got off the bicycle and said, "Fine! Take it!"

Yeah, every time I came to his name in the article, I felt like I hit a brick wall of letters.

I wonder what was going through the robber's head, though.

It seems like a scene out of a cartoon where a dog steals a pie off a windowsill.

Just goes to show ya. If you're dumb, don't mess with a Martian.

He fails for not catching the laptop before it hits the ground.

He wins for going out in his boxers.

That guy would be awesome if he used his last name as his password on his laptop. I mean there would be very few people that could figure that out unassisted.

Ain't that the truth. I tried pronouncing that name and failed.

Regardless of the name and what not, this type of crime really is brazen. Usually, I hear of people getting their laptops stolen in public places or while inside the carry cases. But right from inside someone's personal residence is not so common, or is it?

I have been to Minnesota but only in bad snowy weather and I was at a hotel. So picturing Minneapolis in good weather is a bit difficult for me. Although the victim may not think so, the circumstances do warrant a light chuckle in light of his situation when the laptop was stolen. Without thought to personal embarrassment, he rushed out to pursue the thief.

I guess being comfortable in our own homes is not an option these days.

Oh, waltsoph found my post! This is rather awkward... -_-;

It's not "material". I'm not trying to be funny. I'm just making common note of what I think of you.

really? Well thats sure a weird way to express it. But maybe its just me.

Telling someone they fail doesn't exactly sound like a positive or likable jester does it?

I do not "dislike" you, let me make that clear. I don't know you... In general, you're perfectly fine by me. I just... think you're a bit over reactive, and that you fail a bit too often. The reason I can't be more friendly is because you hardly ever give me the opportunity. All of your post seem to be... epic fail. I mean, how can I look at all that fail and just be like "Hey friend! Let's hang out and hey - I'LL ADD YOU TO ME FRIEND'S LIST!"

:P

It's cool, waltsoph.

???????

Ok I do appricate that. Np

It clears up somethings.lol

What I don't get at times is when I post that makes you use that line? I mean surly not all of my post deserve a fail.lol

So sorry if they seem that way.

:/Over reactive? Yeah I may do that sometimes yet lately just in this year alone...I've just noticed somethings going on in the world and in the news that I just could never imagine happening..well now happening. Sure I can't back em up all the time with facts..yet I just know in my gut somethings just not right about it. :(

Also reading words on a screen to me at times isn't the same as actually being able to talk a person right in front of ya. Its easy sometimes for me to make misjudgments if I'm not hearing the person's tone.

I'm better at getting to know a person in person. :)

But thank you I apricate your words.

Ah, try not to let these guys provoke you man. Some of it is in good fun, I would hope.

Well, to start with, he needs to change his font. No one ever reads my posts anyway. You just might be the first.

it is in good fun, but that's just the thing, it's simply too easy to do so.
