Is that how Americans celebrate it? I had no idea. I just knew there were supposed to be fireworks.

Meh, I don't really do much.

I just play video games and... well, pretty much the same thing I do everyday.

Umm. Doesn't that get kinda smelly? :P

Seriously though... what kind of things? We talking firecrackers or do abandoned buildings get ceremonially demolished? Small animals, perhaps? :P

Well, around my area, they blow up cows. :P

(not really. Have to mess with you somewhat today since you're British :P)

People celebrate to different extremes. Most throw parties and have get togethers. Some have cook-outs (cooking large amounts of meat). THEN, sometimes there's a lot of beer and it gets loud.

Fireworks is a big thing too. Kids run around shooting out firecrackers well after midnight, and there are fireworks shows across the nation, in practically every town/city.

Personally, I could do without the holiday (it really annoys the heck out of me), but it can be fun sometimes.

So how does that go? The typical cow-tipping excursion has hilarious consequences after the feed has been mixed with TNT for several days?

(Yeah I read the whole post. Still got to imagine that though!)

and if you aren't an American that must make you ... A COMMUNIST!

Parade, BBQ, fireworks. Classic 4th of July activities.

However some states are retarded and don't allow you to have fireworks, so you just go to a fireworks show or watch one on TV. The fireworks show in NYC is enormous.

For some reason here in ND bottle rockets are going to become illegal on Aug. 1st Probably go down to SD to get them next year. maybe launch them at the Capitol building in bismark

Caster13
July 4th, 2009, 08:47 AM
In my state using fireworks by yourself is illegal meanwhile people can own .50 sniper rifles, belted machine guns, and even artillery cannons that they can actually fire shells.

animeotaku99
July 4th, 2009, 08:54 AM
Well most of those require licensing form the ATF. And I hate it when the make fireworks illegal all together. I mean it is OK if a municpality wants to ban them in their city limits without licensing but if you want to go out to the country and launch some off you should be able too

Normally I sit around and play games like any other day, except I usually walk outside to see the fireworks visible from my house.

Today I'm actually going up to Indian Lake where my mom's family is and celebrating there...mainly because everything is closed on July 4th and I want some food that isn't microwaved...

Playing games is a normal day! Though I only have my gamecube now since the 4th 360 was my limit.

I hope everyone enjoys the holiday, I sure am going to try!

Could you imagine if we were still part of Britain? We'd be good at soccer but always fall short. And and... um that's all I can think of.

Anyway. Happy 4th.

And should we win the day, the 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice:

"We will not go quietly into the night!

We will not vanish without a fight!

We're going to live on!

We're going to survive!"

Today, we celebrate our Independence Day!

Traditionally, we'd hold a family get-together/cook-out or go to the City's annual carnival thingamjig. Nothing this year, though, Everyone's doing their own thing, still celebrating, but it isn't a family affair.

Happy b-day to the USA.

The United States are now 233 years old.

I wonder if the USA will outlast the British Empire (which lasted 400 years) and even the 1,000-year old Roman Empire?

It's the American way!

Fact: America's foundation is built on giving the finger to the man. And when our "mother country" didn't want to put up with it, we fought them off with pitchforks and muskets.

Fact: The Marine Corps was founded in a bar (Tun Tavern, PA). People who enlisted would get free drinks.

Happy Independence Day all.

Way off subject, but is that the dude from Ironsword in your avatar? Holy crap, I haven't played that game since I was like, 7. And what is it with you and Iron? Welcome to the Ironside, Ironsword...COINCIDENCE? I THINK NOT.

Since the only fireworks were by Midtown or on the Hudson, I didn't go see them. For the last couple years they'd have them by the South Street Seaport as well, but not this year. Typically I'd be able to see those from my mom's house. Instead we had a party at my place and at my neighbor's next door. It was quite awesome. There were many of us playing SFIV. My favorite quote of the night in reference to Gen of SFIV; semi-drunk Japanese girl: "What the f***? His name isn't even f***ing Chinese, it's Japanese!!"

BTW, nothing says July 4th like Mexican food...

Its not. But you are correct its Kuros from Ironsword(wizard and warriors 2 for the NES) Wizard and warriors was one of my favorite NES franchises.

I only put this avatar up because people wanted me to change up my other avatar. lol The Kuros one though is only a temp. I'll be changing it again soon.

A bit dated but I think you might enjoy it. Vintage Will Smith as well. I remember going to see it when it first came out, on July Second. Theatres were packed all week and weekend long.

I had a pretty fun 4th too. blackknight and I went to this lake to have a picnic and do some fishing. Then, we just sat in our spot at the lake to watch the fireworks. It just so happened that was the best spot to see them! :) It was beautiful how when they exploded, you could see the reflection of them in the water!

I hope everyone here had a nice 4th too.
