Is it another man-only sport, or is there a chapter where its only women? Kinda like what the WNBA is to basketball?

I don't know think there is one but I'd watch.

I'll do the same thing I do when I watch Women's Pro Wrestling.
Bowl of popcorn for one hand, bowl of KY for the other. I got the hands mixed up once, the result was tragic

Prons is a misogynist. Whenever he sees women doing traditionally male things, he just sits there shaking his fist.

There is no females fighting in the UFC, but there are some females that fight in other organizations. THe former Elite XC (now owned by Strikeforce I believe) had Jeana Carono (sp?) who I believe is/was also on American Gladiators (the new one). Last I heard, I think was that she is going to fighting someone named Cyborg Santos

I saw a match with Carano, I wasn't impressed. Her profile can be found here

Videl, I'd check out clips from NAGA although it is mostly grappling and jiu jutsu. Not really standup. Pushovers some of them are not.
I was just thinking the same thing you were the other day. It may branch out one day if there were enough females showing some interest.
As far as UFC goes, that organization has only male fighters. The females are relegated to ring girl status as of now.

See, its funny. Guys on here get so uppity about Japan not having men-only trains, yet they have all sorts of sports that are men only. Go fig.

I think the more important question is, if there is one, will they even look like women?

I'd watch women's UFC. The question is whether or not there are many female fighters willing and capable. If there was, I think there would already be a league.

There aren't enough women interested for there to be a sufficiently wide selection process. When you do see female MMA fighters, the story always has some element of the gender novelty in it. Hopefully, there are good ones in training for future prospects because women divisions in combat sports have been terrible.

You know, I may have not been around here long enough but that is totally news to me...men-only trains? This is drifting dangerously into segregation but Japan has their way of doing things I guess.
But I see your point and agree with your contention. I am sure there is a pool of talent out there but it is looking very sparse at the moment. My ring girl comment was half serious and half joking but it is a reality that I have noticed. Whether or not it is Pay-Per-View or free television bouts, you see the same trend.
Fight venues like Ring of Combat and some Sanshou practicioners have very talented and fearsome women. But far and few they are compared to the phenomenon that is the UFC.
Mabye Videl will be the pioneer that starts a revolution...?

Interesting conjecture although I think it is safe to say that they will. In such a situation, the eyes of men are naturally trained to search out for such distinguishing attributes...

Uh, MMA isn't bodybuilding. Female fighters aren't hopped up on dianabol and prohormones.

I could take her. Just sayin.
But then also, it seems a bit glamorized for women. Like, not to be taken seriously, but for the sake of 'Oh, come and watch two hot chicks wail on each other That's hot right?.'

Why do they do that? An airbrushed picture after being done over by a professional stylist does not make you look tough. How could anyone punch that?

I could. But more for the reason that if you go into a fight looking like that willingly, then you deserve to get punched. But then again, thats also why women's fighting leagues are seen as a joke, because they airbrush it up to be 'hot.' The ones that aren't 'hot' get made fun of, no matter how skilled they actually are at the sport and how seriously they take it.

I can't imagine how you'd get more women in fighting. I assume you're either a fighter or not. You probably can't go up to a regular person on the street and get them to step in the octagon. I'm not a fighter, I wouldn't start for any reason.

I want to take up kickboxing, but thats for the exercise aspect, not the kicking of peoples' *****. I look like a fighter, but I'm not. That blog post I made about getting into a fight, I backed out of that about a month before. Thinking about it rationally, I don't have the funds to go to a doctor if I get hurt. Its just stupid. I may look like I can kick ***, but really when it comes down to it, I'll only do it in self defense.

Yes, yes it is.^_^
No offense Videl. Or any other females on this board.

No, but it drives my point a little better. Although, I do enjoy watching a good UFC match. Just because I'm barbaric, not cause it gets me off. Usually it makes me want to work out more.

I'm all for a woman being able to handle herself and win. That's awesome in my opinion. But at the same time I don't want to accidentally piss a girl like that off.

However, on another point of view I think it's awesome when a woman can handle herself. But I just don't want to be the target of such a woman.:|
I hate nothing more than a woman who doesn't and defend herself and just lets herself be overtaken. My God, throw a punch...TRY. Too many women are pussies, seriously. Somebody roll up on me? I'll kick their ***. Its just how I roll...like a morbidly obese person down a slanted slope.

Same here. However given the way most women are brought up it's expected.

Yeah, I've thought about that. Watching videos of people fighting, I noticed that some girls would just sit down and let the other beat on them half way through. Like when a cheetah catches a baby gazelle and it just sits down to die. I guess it's not fighting back in the hopes that the other person doesn't see them as a threat anymore and stops wailing on them.

Out of the many fight videos I have seen, I've not ever seen man break up the fight and for good reason too. Do not ever get between two women fighting. You will get sucked in and you will die.

 I might siggy that. That slanted slope bit is redundant, however. I do have an image to uphold as GRAMMAR GOD(DESS). Hmm, haven't decided if I'll give you credit, though.
Oh, sorry about the off-topicness. You don't ever have to worry about seeing me in this god-forsaken Hell Hole (Sports and Fitness Forum), again.
