Anyone else a fan? I bought the entire collection in a single volume edition, and I'm loving it so far! One of my best friends showed it to me when I was much younger (back when the comic was new).
What do y'all think of this one?

Overated garbage. I met Jeff Smith before, he is a douchebag. Best independent comics are:
1. Cerebus
2. Groo The Wanderer (Sergio Aragonés is the polar opposite of Jeff Smith)
3. The Tick
4. Milk and Cheese
5. Sam and Max

I thought Cerebus had some good bits, but on the other hand it also had some bits which were just a mish-mash of ideas, barely interacting coherently. Shame really, it had the potential to be much more. As for Bone, I'm not familiar with it. I sometimes wonder if I should be...

That's a shame. I find myself really enjoying it.
I liked the first 25 issues of Cerebus, but I'm having a hard time getting through High Society. It's simply not as compelling...

The rest of the series is more like High Society than it is like the first arc. To begin with, it was just a straightforward Conan the Barbarian parody. Quite good, but unsophisticated. Starting with High Society it began the trend towards satire, and social commentary. There's a lot of good stuff to be found in the series, but it's all wrapped up in a rather weighty story and never changes in tone that much from High Society until very, very late on.

Agreed, He's from the area that I live in & at one time did cartoons for the Ohio State student newspaper according to a friend of mine. He's been rumored to tell people that manga should be banned from US sales because it's utter crap & that the US customers should be supporting domestic artists instead of buying manga or other things.

When I met him he was one of those who felt his own unwarranted self importence as an "ARTISTE" puts him above such things as speaking to proles.
Sergio Aragonés will show up at small comic store, talk with you, and even go out for beer afterwards. I cannot emphasize enough how awesome this man is.

Yeah that's an important difference. Cause face it, without the fans they aren't anything.

Sergio also has the most awsome mustache this side of Dali.

I should re-read my one Groo comic I possess. I'd read it about 10 years ago as I recall, so it's about due just to see what he's really about.
