OG Naruto in HD

On the latest episode they did a flash back to something that happened in the original series. When other shows that have gone to widescreen do this, the flash backs are always in the original aspect ratio. But these were widescreen.

Somebody had to edit it to get it that way which makes me wonder if there's any chance of them releasing the old shows in HD or at least widescreen.

Actually, the original scenes weren't edited to make them HD/widescreen; the scenes were re-animated for this episode. Compare the original episodes those scenes were from and you'll see the scenes aren't even the same in some cases (ie camera angle, art style). The animation crew probably thought it easier to just re-draw the scenes than to HD-up the originals.
