okay this scared and pissed me off all at the same time this coalition which
calls its self C.R.A.F. (The Coalition for Responsible Anime Fandom) are
trying to stop imports from japan into north america this also includes Ecchi
these Hippy Nerds don't like Hentai and ecchi and because of that they don't want anybody else to watch it and really WHO THE HELL ARE THEY TO TELL
US WHAT WE CAN AND CAN'T WATCH AS LEGAL ADULTS. Now I don't know how to stop them but I know someone will and if any of you are american this should piss you off because it goes against free speech also these guys might be trying to stop Hentai torrents so if they succeed were F'd on all ends
we must rise up and tell CRAF to go crawl down to there parents basements and get a life and stop dictating there idealistic bullcrap on others who just
want to see anime boobies thank you!

*yawn*

Real link, please?

Even if such a group exists, their existence doesn't magically redefine the boundaries of free speech. I'd initially suspect them to be a hoax or a bunch of loudmouth fans trolling.

HATE SPEECH DIRECTED AT ANOTHER MEMBER IS NOT ALLOWED. Anyways its a small group that i found in a youtube channel. I do agree with Desslock though its just some fans trolling.

Please use proper derogatory terms if you're going to rant. They're "moral scolds", not Hippy Nerds, and even if this particular group is new, the anti-hentai faction of anime fans has existed for years with little real influence.

Ever heard the old saying.."We the people." Thats all it takes with the right kind of environment.

I'm sure they also consider themselves "We the people", so your populist angle means nothing- but you should probably keep in mind they outnumber you.

i don't know whether is true or not because i didn't go to the link, but this is something that we should be carefull about.

i saw something about a rape game on CNN. rick sanchez, the anchor, was very p.o. about this and pretty much said that viewers should boycott the game and things like this that promotes rape. few weeks later that rape game would no longer be sold in the states and, i think, recently a company said they would stop make those sort of games, there's info about it in this forum i believe.

so all i'm saying is we should stop and look around and see what's going on and prepare for the worst before it blindsides us and hentai could be classified as child porn(worst case senario).

Given the "manifesto" on the front page, and the review to which I just listened, the person or persons behind this are trolling or neurotic, or both. I don't expect this to go anywhere, unless CRAF gets very lucky or is much smarter than they appear to be.

When i said "we the people" I was refering to the first 3 words of the constitution. You know politic stuff.

Another great example of what i ment by "we the people". But man..:| I appricate the heads up. Makes perfect sense.

I think i know the CNN headline news anchor your probably talking about. He always attacks porn. Its like he has a personal agenda against it no matter what form it is. He always cuts people off that dissagree with his views.

Uh no i don't at all. I just listen and decide my own opinion from glenn. Again hes not a journalist hes a radio DJ. Theres a big difference compared to this headline news guy.

The CNN headline news guy i'm talking about is a real prick. His stories are defently not Journalistic there baised unfair views. He claims hes just expressing his opinion but trust me hes not. He makes it sound like his way is right and if your not on board you get shot down. Expressing an opinion is one thing yet forcing people to accept your point of a story is defently not Journalistic in my eyes. :(

Ok..now I have a real reason to be deeply concerned. I was watching this special on cnbc last night called Porn: Business of Pleasure and there was part talking about this porn star now doing federal time for "obscene" material and being trailed by a jury using the..yep you guessed it the miller test.

I wanted to show the clip but cnbc doesn't show the whole portion of that story.

Now I don't even know the guy or his crude work yet what the reporter said..scares me.
In it the reporter says the following:

" While there are federal and state laws that prohibit the distribution of obscene materials they are rarely enforced. But If they were according to some legal experts studios that sell porn, cable and satellite TV companies that put porn on the systems, and hotels that offer porn on PPV..they would all be offenders..."

I do like what the Defender lawyer Herald Price Fahringer said. He doesn't like porn at all however he says: "..the problem is that once you start drawing lines. Once you say that can't be seen by those whose derive some kind of satisfication from it your starting down that road that is censorship.

The reporter then asks him: "Do you believe yourself to be a champion of the porn industry?"

Herald:" No I don't. I'm a champion of the 1st amendment. I'm a champion of everybody having the right to read whatever they want. To make the choice thats whats important and we can't interfere with that in a free society. "

So why did i post it on here? Think about it. Its the perfect fuel for the anti-hentai fire.

...:( anyways just hearing what the reporter said makes me fear the future of hentai as well. I wonder could AN get prosecuted for the very fact that it sells hentai? Thats what happened to this porn star.

I mean i'm just a simple person like i said many many times here on forums. I also believe in privacy. Yet with all of this said prove it to me..prove to me as an adult hentai fan that i have nothing and i do mean NOTHING to worry about from all of this.

Cause i gotta say i am deeply worried now. :(

This thread was started by a troll group, to get a reaction from hentai fans. Nothing more.

It's not even anything to be taken seriously. The trolls who posted it do not take it seriously.

You shouldn't either.

Yes, Walt. THINK about it. The anti-hentai movement does not exist. Hells, bells! How many nonexistent things can you panic about in one year?

Well lets just keep a count as the year goes by then shall we? :P

And I'm not exactly just talking about that one group that was trolling here.Ok.

I'm talking about something else such as other anti-groups that would have a particular intrest of ending hentai in general.

Can you at least try to answer what i posted earlier on what the reporter was talking about? I mean hentai is classified as porn to the public is it not.

Is it possible AN could be put in deep water with selling hentai if they enforced the law?

Again I'm all for privacy and everything but to hear stories like this really makes me cringe. :(

Why certainly...

I mean hentai is classified as porn to the public is it not.
Yes it is, which is why it's protected speech and therefore perfectly legal for AN to import and sell, so long as they're not importing and selling child pornography, which they're not.

Is it possible AN could be put in deep water with selling hentai if they enforced the law?
No, it is not possible.

Does that pretty much answer your questions, or did you need me to walk you through the finer nuances of the law?

Again I'm all for privacy and everything but to hear stories like this really makes me cringe. :(
Then, until you're grown up enough to hear a piece of news and interpret it within the context of the real world, I sure hope you enjoy cringing - because you're gonna do a lot more of it.

"You mean... these Rice Crispies snap, crackle and pop? What if I lose an eye at breakfast?" (cringe)

Dude i'm no Fricken troll...
I wasn't talking about you. I was talking about this fictitious "Anti-Hentai Coalition". They're nothing but trolls, and they're only doing it to get a rise out of people like you.

And they're evidently succeeding, because you and a few others are falling for it hook, line and sinker.

I posted this thread because I'm worried Hentai could be lost here in north america
Do you not understand that pornography is protected speech in this country? It really is just as simple as that. Before some tiny niche little piece of nothing (in the grand scheme of the market) like Hentai could be banned, the ENTIRE MASSIVE JUGGERNAUT of live-action pornography would have to be banned.

That ain't happening, and any sane individual knows that. It's just not happening. Regular pornography is not only protected speech by law, but there's a massive amount of precedent to confirm it. It's very protected speech, and it also generates a lot of revenue.

I myself don't like people spreading lies but this is no lie...
YES IT IS. It's a lie. It's made up. It's nothing but a troll. It's not even a subtle troll. It's a blatantly obvious troll, standing there with a big striped club and a t-shirt that reads, "I R a tRol".

BUT! Even if it was 100% legitimate, and these people were sharp legal minds with infinite funding and their own personal ninja army - EVEN THEN, it wouldn't matter, because some crank's opinion does not change the laws governing this land.

...the leader or atleast a major assosiate of Craft is...
...nothing but a troll. Ignore him as such.
