View Full Version : your favorite hero

don't know if this is the right section for this, but it can be deleted or moved I guess.

It can either be a super hero, or an anime character (although super hero is a more challenging one on an anime forum)

Mine is Deadpool from Marvel comics.

He's insane. Picks fights with people he shouldn't. And goes out of his way to be a ****.

now who's your favorite hero?

For me, it's Iron Man!

Ever since I was 10, ol' Shellhead has always been my favorite hero. Even without the armor, Tony Stark has always been THE coolest dude in the room, smarter than Einstein, richer than Donald Trump! Men want to be him, women want to be WITH him! Then he puts on the suit and kicks bad guy ***! Who can be better?

I was never a big fan of comics in the American sense, but I did always like the Punisher. It along with The NAM are the only two I ever bothered to read more than a couple of them.

j/k

Now as for american superhero I do admit I would love to read more about Deadpool.

On the Japanese side Lina Inverse, Leo Aiolia, Gon and Demon Eyes Kyo are at the top for me.

And to expend the horizon a little...

There's Yoko Tsuno (the one that's not blue)

I used to read this all the time!! I can't believe I forgot about this series.

Scrameustache, Spirou & Fantasio, Cubitus, Achille Talon, Bob Morane, Bob et Bobette, etc., etc., I read e'm all! Every single book of every series that was in the library!

Among them, Spirou is indeed among my favorite, though I'd have to think hard to name one that stands out as my absolute favorite. The series went through many styles (I seem to be in the minority that adored volume 46's gritty detail), but I still liked e'm all.

<gasps for air>

<ahem>

Err... American comics, I'd say Batman.

Manga doesn't seem to produce heroes, so I'll go with protagonist. That's be Motoko Kusanagi. Alucard, Guts, Alita, and quite a few more are still high on my list. There's a lot of likable characters in manga.

I don't like Deadpool very much. Am I the only one who thinks that, in most situations, giving a character two guns or two swords just makes it look like you're trying too hard to create a badass image?

while the badass image is true, I only like him because he's funny. Wolverine is badass, as well as the hulk, juggernaut, almost every hero and villain is badass in general.

But I like most of the funny ones

From what I've read, Deadpool does sound like a pretty good character. I just can't stand when a writer is trying too hard to ram badassness down my throat.

Sometimes you have to back off a little. Nobody needs two swords like that. I'm talking outside of comics too. In movies and anime. Most of the time, combining swords with modern pistols is just too much. The coolness of a trench coat dies fast when nearly every single character is wearing one. Killing an enemy completely loses it's effect when the hero has already killed thousands without breaking a sweat. Having more than one character with a solid snake voice is silly and I hate when a dude is introduced, hyped as the most dangerous mother****er ever and then wiped out in a second just to show us how nuttingly awesome the protagonist is.

Akimbo pistols is cool when John Woo does it or you're dealing with cowboys and Troy Duffy got away with it but few others have done that without making me facepalm.

Power Girl is cool too, though I don't think writers always handle her well or make good use of her. Too often she seems to end up in the background when she's in team books, though I do think her new ongoing has potential, despite the bad reviews it's getting from the whiners.

Last Days of Animal man might be cool. The art looks good, and I love Animal Man, but I'm still not completely sold on it yet.

Top 3:

Mr. A

He wears an armored mask and armored gloves. Some episodes feature him on a white platform and a criminal on a black platform. He asks for the criminal to justify his actions, and Mr. A never sees them as just, so the black platform slides and makes him fall into an abyss. Totally sweet.
