Please excuse me if i'm waxing philosophical here but I have to get this offa my chest It seems to me that often the people who often slaughter the H-genre often are the ones who indulge in blood gore and excessive violence and defend it to the nth degree, but often speak on a moral high horse when it comes to sexual content and in that i'm talking even about mild fanservice, even just on a female having larger than normal breast size some think it (the h genre and related fanservice ) should be banned altogether. I know many who indulge in the gory violent and bloody stuff (non hentai) and think its good and justified but often speak aginst hentai as if it were killing people. The hentai fan on the other hand rarely speaks out against the violent (non hentai stuff) because theyre probably fans of it too. but It seems to me that a lot of hentai-haters (I'm not speaking of the rational vast MAJORITY that do'nt know or care for it, but the true haters. that ravage forums to get the last word and condemn people for liking it as if they were to be stoned to death for watching it) I don't know but I sense some irrational hypocrisy amongst a vast majority of the haters. It seems to me that, especially in this forum and comparing it to other forums that i visit that are overrun with haters most H/eeechi-fans are more intelligent and elequent in getting their point across of why they like it, where as the haters tend to act on emotion and false moralism. as I said on the post about CrazClowns Video on Hentai
I have no problem with a person with authentic religious or moral beliefs but I have no love for the fascist hypocrite who thinks what's best for everyone.
and, secondly
why do YOU like Hentai?:naughty:

1) I find that same problem exists in video games and movies. Violence is alright, but GOD FORBID we see a bare breast
2)Like Hentai because it is anime with extreme open-minded sexuality...and it helps being attracted to animated girls ;)

Sex is a natural part of human existence and there can be many outlets for people expressing themselves. Hentai, to me, is just another form of human expression. While I personally don’t care such things as rape, guro, torture and especially tentacles, Animation in the form of Hentai, allows some people to live out that fetish in some safe form. I would much rather see it in this form than in real life on the 11 o’clock news.
The problem with Western thought on the subject of Hentai comes from the fact that, in the U.S. especially, most people equate animation with something that is made for kids to watch. So if you animate people having sex, you and your culture is perverted.
The real problem comes when people cannot distinguish between something that is seen in Hentai and what happens in real life. Watching Hentai, as in live action porn, can be taken too far and people cannot let it be their only outlet for human relationships and is most defiantly no replacement for intimacy between two people.

I agree wholeheartedly and I think that the 99.99% of hentai fans think like you and I and all on this forum. Most fans of hentai in all its forms are intelligent enough to know when to say when and enough when its enough.
like anime in general , there is that handful of obsessed fans who blur the distinction between real life and entertainment, that give the rest of the fandom a bad name. however thinking about it , this can also apply to fans or afficionados of ANYTHING IN LIFE, Movies, Sports Politics, Religion, Food,........it's all about balance with the rest of your life . I'm pretty sure that contrary to popular belief that most hentai fans are balanced people in their intimate and other human relationships and see hentai SIMPLY as a form of entertainment, not as a whole lifestyle. I'm sure that most people who seen one or two rape or S&M hentai are not going to rape their Wife/Girlfriend. To quote a
hentai title it's about "DISCIPLINE" people and separating the entertainment from REAL LIFE!
Sadly the majority of the West and especially America is stuck on a weak, hypocritical and in my humble opinion corrupt moral system that is only loosely based on religiosity and false moralism and false conservatism and is too squeamish on matters of sexual intimacy yet they are increasingly very gung ho about violence regardless it being right or wrong. they are silent or hungry when ever they see a anime or manga full of blood and gore but then they want to throw the book at you when you even speak of a hentai or even fanservice. in fact there are dozens of people on other forums on this site that fit this description. many of these people were probably raised in pseudo-moralism . and that mentality still spills over to the fact that animation and comics are still percieved to be "kid's stuff" and instead of putting the responsibility on adults/parents, they feel that they must get the government involved as a so-called "moral beacon". They (the interventionists) scream "It's not enough to have ratings or parental controls IT ALL MUST BE BANNED"! they feel it's their divine duty to SCREEEEEEAM on this and other forums as if the Devil were here. pure insanity. I have a friend who is of this ilk who in discussing "Toka Gettan" a while ago reamed me out when I simply mentioned that it was mearly a spin-off of sorts of a hentai (Moonlight Lady). "It BETTER not be a Hentai, because I HATE that Hentai ( four or five expletives deleted) but then a few minutes she was cheering and extolling the virtues of Claymore and Hellsing and about how bloody and gory they were and she's also a big fan of toilet humor (not my cup of tea) then brags about how religious she is <_< .Simply mention the word Hentai in a unopinionated objective fashion and it's like.......... BURN EM TO THE STAKE!
Witch hunting at its finest. <_<
. Now as for what do I like about Hentai
I'm not a fan of the overly hardcore stuff, and i HATE tentacles (what's the point it's overused IMHO) but will observe it to see what it's about. I like/prefer a nice storyline. good looking characters (preferably of both sexes That's why I like Moonlight Lady so much) good art/animation
oh yeah and lots of gettin it on. and to quote another friend of mine if anyone says that youre sick because you watch and/or like hentai. I say KICK ROCKS!

I also find this to be quite ironic since people are so worried about that yet many people have already seen bare breasts anyways, even the youngest of people. The internet allows you to see that stuff easily. I'd rather someone be influenced by sex rather than by violence. But really, it's just a game. That goes into the whole fantasy versus reality thing. I honestly feel it's pretty pathetic that whole thing had to be brought up anyways. If humans were stupid enough to be influenced by fantasy things then we'd all be in trouble. Those who are easily influence have serious problems, likely a mental disorder.

I did'nt want to bring to bring the subject up either but there is a segment within fandom that have vendettas against anyone whose tastes differ from theirs (and abusingly) like to speak for (and brainwash) the silent majority who simply dont care for H-media and believe the garbage that if one man watches a hentai-a fantasy form of adult entertainment-then 1,000 children (in real life) will get hurt. Sadly those people are on the loudspeaker within the community speading lies and witch hunting over what? two cartoon people having sex?

I fully agree but on the subject of parents thinking all anime is made just for kids I've seen problems like this that are non-anime related like the case with
happy tree friends parents were complaining that ohh this kinda show should not be made for kids...duh! its an adult cartoon and just because the animation style and the character designs resemble a kid oriented show does not always mean its for kids and parents out there who complain out there are just plain stupid for thinking it was aimed towards kids I mean are you kidding me a kids cartoon that involves gorey graphic deaths ya like nickolodean would air a show like that on a kids network but really parents need to worry more about there kids using drugs than protesting a cartoon that they think was made for kids for which it was intended for adults in the
first place.

Just to offer perspective - think about the people who post in a Hentai forum. The only people you're apt to get are the people who enjoy Hentai enough to post about it, right? Either that, or you're going to get the examples from the far end of the spectrum - those who hate Hentai so much that they're willing to post in a Hentai forum to complain about it.
Just because you're not hearing the opinions of a lot of moderates, that doesn't mean they're not out there. It just means they're not as apt to post in a Hentai forum, is all.
Me personally, I don't care for Hentai. I find it boring. As for violent Hentai titles, I can't imagine why I'd find them any more entertaining, so I've not bothered with them. If they float your boat, more power to you. Watch what you want, and I'll avoid what I don't want to watch.
Does that restore your faith in humanity a bit? To know that there are people who're simply uninterested in what you like, but who don't care if you watch it? No moral high horse here, just different tastes.
why do YOU like Hentai?:naughty:
I don't. I find it boring. Just thought I'd add my voice to counterbalance the True Haters you seem to be complaining about.

Good points said Fred...errrrr Leader Desslock. Let me clear some things up. First of all This post was not targeted at all to the moderate anime fans I was speaking to the H-fans only to speak from their perspective this being and H-forum and all. If I wanted to speak to all including moderates I would've put up a thread on the general forum. the goal of the post was intended to get the perspective of H-fans only, not neccessarily anime fans in general, about their feelings about the bashers. I am well aware of the other 98% like you. I'm not speaking like they don't exist. That is why I asked the second question of "why do you like hentai? Plus I was letting off some steam. (is that so wrong?)

In that you read my post wrong I was NOT referring to Violent Hentai I was referring to Violent mainstream Anime, the blood and guts stuff. NO SEX!

Ah. Probably so. Well, if it makes you feel any better, I don't really make much of a distinction, either way. Hentai, fanservice for its own sake, violence for its own sake - elements thrown in solely to shock or titillate the audience usually do so at the expense of the narrative. I generally find them all boring, if they don't have any substance to back 'em up.
So you're venting about a very tiny but vocal segment of the anime fanbase, even though you realize just how tiny that segment actually is.
Gotcha. Carry on.

Gotta love how our culture finds nothing wrong with movies which consist of not much more than women running around screaming and then, when caught, being tortured and having their blood and gore pouring everywhere until they beg to be dead (such movies even get released in mainstream movie theaters); yet, when something has graphic sex, despite sex being a completely natural and enjoyable to the average person, it's dismissed as having no artistic value and of no use besides pickle-tickling.

are you trying to be objective and non partisan or are you dropping a light insult if the latter, are you hinting that Im in some kind of wrong here. that I should't be talking about it. as if I have no right to speak about something that exhists. regardless if it is a SMALL segment.

that said youre right and the same thing can be said about anime in general
anime is a small part of the entertainment galaxy, so what if the discussion is on one small part of it?

I smell snobbery:P
to each his or her own. It dosen't matter how small or large the group is Just because a subject dose'nt gel with the other 98-99% of anime fans doesent mean it is to be verboten, or should'nt be disscused amongst likeminded. secondly no fans or fangroup's opinion is more superior to anothers, regardless of views/opinions/ethics/morals/tastes/likes/dislikes
Anime is a big tent let's keep it that way.
now... back to said topic.
I LIKE Hentai because it's fun and light and entertaining in its own way.
and this is coming from one whose anime-related interests are diversified
I like the critically acclaimed/Oscar/Award worthy stuff like Mizyaki and Satoshi Kon's works (esp Mononoke) I like mainstream TV shows like Bleach and Code Geass as well as the eechi H-stuff.i don't watch intentionally hentai for the plot lines and I certainly don't watch hentai for intellectual stimulation, but when I want something fun and a little naughty. then I'll reach for the hentai. and if the hentai has a good plotline, then it makes it all the better.
and as the good rabbi says......L'haim!:cheers::cheers :[

My insults aren't generally light. I was just using your 98% statistic, is all.
I swear, I just saw this topic from the main board and thought it was worth chiming in that the attitude you were describing wasn't likely representative of the fanbase as a whole. That's all.

I do watch hentai for intellectual stimulation sometimes. Believe it or not, I've found myself thinking after seeing anime such as Countdown: Akira and Nymphs of the Stratosphere. Thinking + hardcore sex is a fun combo. Just because something has graphic sex doesn't mean the people who made it didn't put any thought into other areas.
