We need to decide which of the new styles should be the default. Which do you prefer? (You can change your style via the drop down menu at the bottom of each page or your user CP.)

AnimeNation Fixed - Vertical

Fixed, Horizontal. It makes the banner look better to have a fixed width, and the new horizontal layout looks good to me.

I don't use a wide angle monitor. Please keep to vertical so people like me have less side scrolling.

Get the most out of my screen space:)
Are the ads on side going to make a return?

Liquid expands to your screen size you wont need to side scroll, unless someone posts a huge image.

I'm going with Fixed Vertical. It makes it a little easier to read if you don't have to look so far left and right and the vertical format keeps everything in the centre of the screen. Maybe I'm the only one who has these sorts of problems but if it helps avoid headaches down the line...
Then again it doesn't matter to me what the default is since I'm usually on at home and I've got it set to "remember me".

I've already gotten used to liquid - horizontal, but I use a widescreen monitor. So there.
Only the banner placement needs to be fixed. Centering it would be cool.

I agree. I like the liquid version much better, but it'd be much better if the banner was centered.

I'm just used to the fixed vertical, so that's what I chose. But I'm sure I'll get used to the new layout... eventually...

I'm using the forum default and I like how the avatars and info are on the left of the posts. It's easier to look at and has a "classic" feel to it.

As long as the option is left open to have it either Vertical or Horizontal then I doubt anyone could really complain. The Horzontial is more generic since its the format that pretty much every forum in the world who runs vBulletin uses.

Vertical. Vertical.
And I have no idea what 'liquid' is, but if its the thing that makes the page look normal on my litte tiny screen, than that's the one I choose.

Fixed vertical gave posts a nice width to them, not much wasted space. Not so wide that your eyes stray and get lost halfway through a line, but not too narrow either. The user info always takes up the same strip of space on every post, you never get a huge strip of wasted space when there's a long post.
Fixed Horizontal wastes a lot of space - I have about an inch and a half of grey either side of the board, and 2 inches of wasted space where the avatar and such is, leaving only about 6 inches of space where I read posts.
Liquid vertical... is just a bit awkward unless you happened to open it exactly the width it used to be when it was fixed...
Liquid horizontal gives the text of a post much more breathing space, though some posts were breaking it earlier and falling out of the right hand side. (Maybe I was just looking at exactly the wrong moment earlier).
I still think fixed vertical was the most elegant and readable, overall.

It does, it does. In fact, I've already changed my mind. It just doesn't give enough space in the text box, and even less for PMs.

"Liquid" means the layout will adjust to your screen resolution. So if you're rocking widescreen then the forum will adjust to that. As opposed to a fixed layout which will stay the same no matter what your resolution is.

Ahh, then I meant the other one I think. Although honestly with my tiny screen it could be 'narrow/fixed/whatnot' and still wouldn't make a difference. *Shrugs*.

I've been using fixed vertical since it changed a few years ago. I really don't like text dragging across the whole screen and prefer the more condensed feel. You have to scroll down a bit more, but I just like the way it looks much better and is easier to read.

I definitely like the fixed horizontal layout more than the vertical layout. It makes reading posts a bit easier and just looks more organized in general. Even so, it's great to have all options for everyones own preference. It would make both sides happy.

Liquid. Seriously, fixed is a waste of space on the 17" 4:3 monitor i have at work. and AN's the only forum i got to that has a fixed width.
and while it's mildly annoying on a 17" 4:3, i don't bother at home when i'll surfing the web on 2 20+" widescreen LCDs...

Liquid horizontal, but as long as it's adjustable width. An 800 pixel width on a 1600 pixel wide display looks silly, especially with the user information in a left-hand sidebar ("horizontal"), and most especially with the length of some of my posts—the on-/off line, report and ID icons are so far down it's silly.

There's a reason newspapers have columns and books are the size they are, reading long lines of text does your eyes in.

Fixed vertical. Wasted space off to the sides, and I think having the avatars off to the side is distracting. It's harder to focus on the text when a colorful (even if small) anime-style picture is right next to it.
Plus it makes the text box even smaller.

The idea of a bigger avatar is tempting, but I think I'm fine with my 80x80. All the changes are going to take me some time to become used to. It's gaining fast though. I don't mind how it is now, its just subtle changes...so to speak.
