So it's finally here, I know it hasn't been officially released online yet by Funimation, but for those who have seen it...impressions? satisfied, disappointed? how about that Ice Alchemist, i thought the character was quite a BA. i'll leave a more complete summary to someone else and maybe more will have seen it via Funi

Armstrong's a pretty cool guy, punches glaciers and doesn't afraid of anything.

I liked it. Nicely foreshadowed quite a few things throughout the series. Loved the opening too.

I liked it! I didn't see the first one so I was hesitant about watching this one.
It wasn't as 'kiddy' as I thought it would be, so that was good. I kept thinking about Lockon since he and Mustang share seiyuu. I was surprised at a fuhrer, but more so on his mustache and eye patch...

My first impressions are rather..... well I don't really know what to make of it. I guess, I was expecting something a little more.
I might have gone into this with the wrong mindset. I was expecting something along the lines of Hellsing Ultimate. Hellsing Ultimate does the manga justice in animated form, the animation quality is excellent, and overall its more intense like you'd usually expect from a Manga. However, here, the animation style remains relatively unchanged. I never read the manga, so I do not know how much this will differ if it follows the manga exactly. If it dramatically changes like Hellsing Ultimate, then I will be extremely happy. I would love nothing more than to see the story re-told in a gritty, more in-your-face way like Hellsing Ultimate. Even though I will watch it regardless, unless there are some big changes ahead I see little reason to completely re-do the story and start from scratch.

I'm hoping the series remains dark as it is now. The fact that we saw kimbly first episode was a very good sign.

Really weird, actually.
I don't know what to think of it so far... I'll have to wait and see.
Regardless, you know this is getting licensed.

It already is licensed. I believe subbed episodes start streaming from Funimation on Thursday.

Oh!
Cool. I forgot they were trying to implement that "instant license" business nowadays. Nice stuff.

Well it was a quite enjoyable episode, i was hoping they'd completely revamp the art style but it seems very familiar, and looks liek they're off to that place with crazybirdcreatingman is next episode..yay
Also also Shin-ichiro Miki is voicing Roy Mustang <3

it lived up to my expectations, glad we didn't have to see a reanimation of the first episode of the first series. i expect we'll get some overlap sometime soon and that it'll move towards the manga storyline sooner than later

Well first of all I never read the manga so I assumed that the show was going to be about the continuation of the series or something...so when I saw the first episode I was like "huh?" It definitely felt like I was watching the original series in some alternate universe! But now that I know it's supposed to be based off the manga it makes a bit more sense. The only problem I can foresee is that it won't be interesting enough to stand out from the first series...but I hope they prove me wrong because I love FMA and can't wait to watch!!

They seems to back tracked quite a bit from the first season's ending, but not quite a complete remake of the story. It's been a while since I watched FMA season 1, so I'm actually kinda confused right now. Does anyone know what ep (of season 1) is the season 2 continuing from?

Did you not read anything in the thread or any of the other topics about this in the sub-forum? Its not a continuation its a re-make that follows the manga's storyline.

That's pretty common for TV shows, especially now that broadcast timeframes are compressed to get more shows out on DVD/Blu-Ray faster to recover costs.
