Woman to 911: Help! I'm locked inside my car (http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/breakingnews/orl-bk-kissimmee-911-locked-car-040109,0,3442193,print.story)
Amy L. Edwards

A 911 dispatcher had to tell a woman how to unlock her car on Sunday.

A woman called Kissimmee police to say she was locked inside her car at the Walgreen's on John Young Parkway near Poinciana.

"My car will not start. I'm locked inside my car," the unidentified woman said.

"Nothing electrical works. And it's getting very hot in here, and I'm not feeling well."

The dispatcher asked the woman if she was able to manually pull the lock up on the door.

The woman said she would try, and then, she said, "Yes, I got the door open."

Man cries after attempt to rob liquor store fails (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/odd_crying_robbery_suspect)

TRENTON, N.J. – Police say a 19-year-old who tried to rob a liquor store sat down and cried after 76-year-old owner locked him in the store. The man was accused of trying to rob Sykes Liquor Store in Trenton Monday night. Police said the owner, who was behind the counter, triggered the lock after the man grabbed a bottle of Hennessy cognac and bolted for the door.

The man then allegedly pulled out a handgun and demanded to be released. But the owner said he saw that the gun was a fake, refused to unlock the door and called police.

Police said the suspect threw away the gun, slumped to the floor and was crying when officers arrived to arrest him.

Woah i didn't know were talking about the movie that stared Jim Carry. lol

Actually i would have to say the 2nd choice because the first one could have actualy had a real emergency. I meen there are fully electical cars and if the power is out there screwed.

Why the 2nd one? Anyone trying to steal using a fake weapon in there possesion deserves whats comming to them.

The first lady was plain stupid, I kinda wish that she had stayed in the car and succumb to heat stroke.

The second guy was pathetic, I am I just laughing at the concept.

I once had a frantic woman come into my store looking for a new battery to her keychain car opener. When she couldn't find one she panicked even more and asked if she could use our phone to call her son.

While dialing she explained that the reason she needed a new battery was because without it she couldn't open her car door and go home. I looked at her for a moment before asking if she tried using the key.

I've never seen someone turn so red before in all my life. Needless to say she didn't follow through with that call....

*sigh* stupid people these days.

That's as bad as the idiot who called 911 because McDonald's wouldn't give her chicken nuggets

That's kind of different, though. With the McDonald's incident, you have people being ignorant and over-reactive to a given situation. In this case... (well, with the woman anyways), someone who lacks common sense completely.

Now, as for the guy at the liquor store... yeah...

I understand how the guy felt... but wow. You have to laugh at him for his "shortcoming". He tried to rob a liqour store with a fake gun and got caught... he knew "the end" was near so he sat down and cried about it. That's just funny as hell.

Depends on whether or not the remote also disarms the alarm system. I know that the minivan my mom uses works that way. If the remote doesn't work, you can't get into the car without setting off the alarm. Annoying as all hell.

How does that apply to her story though? It's obvious from Shiroiyuki's description of the woman's reaction that she (the woman) failed miserably.

He was outpaced by a 76 year old man who hobbled slowly outside and locked the front door. How a slow old man can outsmart you, move from behind the counter, go outside and lock the door with his shaking liver spotted hands defies explination for me.

One would think the kid would've just assaulted the old man and forced him to unlock the place. I guess he didn't want any violence involved in a robbery.

Yes, Monsha, that's EXACTLY how it went down!

Anywayz, it wasn't really a robbery, the kid was just shoplifting and got caught.

He could've went to town on the shopkeep, but I don't think that kind of thing is common for a shoplifter. I mean, I'd cry, too. Well, I'd never steal anything from a store, but just think about it. At first, all the kid had to worry about was shoplifting, but things got super sticky when he decided to threaten the man with a "gun."

As for the first story, it's kinda silly, but I guess the lady has become so accustomed to all this technology....

Hmm, I give them both a pass. *Shrugs* Guess I'm not as cranky as the rest of you's. :)

I'm just wondering why the kid sat around and waited for the cops, he could have assaulted the guy, or at least tried to break the window. I mean, what does he care if he breaks a few more bottles by throwing them at the windows?

He pushed a button from behind the counter.

Some store windows are shatter proof, though that doesn't deter some people from trying. Why didn't he assault him? Maybe he was behind a barrier.

Can't you just let us criticize others peacefully? We go thru enough crap as is, and I come here to look down on others after a crap day, not to be judged by you.

I understood it as he triggered the lock, as in there is some mechanism behind the counter that would lock the door. Seeing as this is a lquor store, in Trenton to top it off, this doesn't sound too far off. As to breaking out through a window, most of these stores have thick glass not only in the counter but on the windows as well (in some places the liquor store would remain open at night but you can't walk-in and order through a small window). Not that I know about robbing liquor stores or anything, but I learned this sort of thing in my neighborhood design course.

Let it be said that with current generation Opels (like the Saturn Astra, or in my case, the Holden Barina badged Opel Corsa), if the central locking is in Deadbolt mode, and your keyfob isn't working, then you're screwed. not even the little lock tab inside the door is going to open it.

don't ask how i know...
