This is part question and part game. I was just thinking, coming across some hentai and I notice that either intentionally or not, some original-story (non parody) hentai have characters that closely resemble well known mainstream anime characters
for example Nisama from Natural obsessions Hentai and
Hotohori From Yuu Watase's classic (mainstream) manga/anime franchise "Fushigi Yugi"
I know of some others but I want to know if you noticed any that you think looked familiar to you ?
Remember I'm talking about characters from shows/movies that are NOT spoofs of mainstream anime

Hmmmmm.... How about Atasauki from Panty Flash Teacher. He kinda resembles a young Shigure Sohma of Fruits Basket fame
Setsuya from "A Time To Screw": the evil twin of Solomon from Blood+
and speaking of FY charachters Ryuichi from "Keraku No Oh" is like a buffed up Tamahome .

The characters in Spaceship Agga Ruter look a lot like Tenchi characters because both shows were done by AIC

Never heard of that series. I find it weird that especially in earlier exhistence, now I know that at least two well known mainstream anime studios did hentai: JC Staff I know of did one and this title by AIC. You learn something new everyday. speaking of JC staff. Kasuki from their Maburaho series kinda reminds me of a slightly younger or babyfaced Keisuke (names are even reminiscent of each other) from the Ane To Boin series.

yeah I do see the resemblsnce between Nisama and Hotohori, just a foot of hair separates the two
and as for females. Princess Thialis (the blonde one) from Darcrows has that classic " spiky anime blond" look that resembles quite a few mainstream girls: Mai from Yugioh ,Kuriko from Maburaho Fillia from Slayers, they all share that look. I like anime blonds with that look.

Actually, AIC did a number of hentai series in the early 1990s, though their site doesn't always admit to which ones. The other notable one is Masquerade, which was created by Masaki Kajishima, who also did Tenchi and Spaceship Agga Ruter.
Others, taken from ANN's list (http://fast.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/company.php?id=27):
Call Me Tonight
The Legend of Lyon: Flare
Parade Parade (grunt work)
Rei Rei
Sex Demon Queen
Zoku Gosenzo (sequel to Masquerade)
Doing contract work on hentai is one way to keep your workforce busy and the bills paid, so many studios do it.

There's a sequel to Masquerade?! Too bad we'll never get to see it.

The blonde-haired female knight from Words Worth reminds me of Glycine Bleumer in Sakura Wars because of her personality, physical appearance and blue garments.

In a weird way, "Women at Work" reminded me of the animation in Moon Phase

Many of the character designs of Rena from Lingeries seem to have been transferred over to Risako-sensei in AIKa R-16: The Virgin Mission. Not a big surprised since both series were produced by Studio Fantasia and were directed by the same person, Katsuhiko Nishijima.

and the buff female construction worker reminded me of a hentai Karen Joshua from the Gundam 08th MS team (a great anime BTW)^_^

According to the ANN Encyclopedia, New Angel (http://fast.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=2580) and Yu Yu Hakusho (http://fast.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=311) don't seem to share character (sic) designers. I'll check ADV/SoftCel Pictures' credits, but the primary ones for New Angel don't mention either Studio Pierrot, AIC, or JC Staff.

The main male character of Princess 69 midnight Gymnastics looks like the ever famous "Fullmetal Alchemist" Edward Elric
there's even a Youtube video that unintentionally shows these two charactes back to back.

The protagonists of Balthus (http://store.yahoo.com/animenation/kvdvd-0210.html) bear striking resemblances to those of Hayao Miyazaki's Castle in the Sky (http://store.yahoo.com/animenation/bvh2534003.html).

LOL! First time I've ever heard the phrases "Miziyaki" and "Hentai" in the same paragraph and probably won't be the last. Good one! seen Castle before
should see it again. will see Balthus now that youve mentioned it
and If I did'nt say so, I it's so wonderful to have a place to talk about the naughty side of anime so intelligently. Thank you Doc. for your Intelligence and vast knowledge.

Ok, it's kind of a stretch but I've got one. When Angel Blade does her transformation, it sort of resembles the transformations of the sailor scouts from Sailor Moon. Also, she has long, thin pig tails like Sailor Moon. Maybe it's an homage?

i'll bet any amount of money the creators were paying some kind of homage, as SM is one of the best known and best recognised animes in history :naughty:
