There are hot asian girls. Or so I hear. I have yet to go to Vancouver. But that may change if I can't get a better study-abroad opportunity.

Yes, this is true. The city I live in (30 minutes from Vancouver) is 60% Asian, and on campus there're Chinese, Koreans, and Japanese everywhere carrying designer bags. We Asians love our designer brands.
You can purchase manga from Chapters (Indigo), though the prices are ridiculous right now what with the exchange rate and all, so one manga volume can cost anywhere from $10 - $20.
What's there to do in Vancouver? Nothing much except shopping and clubbing. If you're up for skiing, you could vacation to Whistler.
P.S. I don't know what ethnicity you are or where you're moving from but if you're not used to seeing this many Asian people, you're going to be in for a shock because every other person you see will be Asian. Just a heads up.

Are they all insane, like Knives Chau?

Night life is okay. I liked the Two Parrots bar on a corner street just short of Granville Bridge, if you're in the mood for talking to Frenchies who occasionally speak English. There are an assortment of clubs to choose from too, if clubbing is your thing.
Stay the hell away from East Hastings street, unless you want to mingle with druggies and hookers.
If you get the chance, go on a jog through Stanley Park...it's a helluva run, with beautiful scenery, and makes you feel like a million dollars when you're done. Oh, and don't forget Grousse (sp?) mountain if it's still available. Good stuff if you are into being on a snowy mountain.
Yes, the thing about a ton of Asians holds true too...lots of them running around with designer purses and poofy jackets with the fur around the hood during the winter months. lol

lol well I'm from Ireland, we do have an asian community and i have made a few asian friends but i don't think its anything close to the size of the asian community in Vancouver.
I think i'm living with a family near the central park. Stanley park i think is like north west from where i will be living so the central park will do for my jogs lol. I have heard all about east hastings and know to stay well clear. I will be working Oakridge Music Studios. Anybody heard of them?

No offense, not bein' racist, but every Asian I met in Van was stupid. I probably just have really bad luck, but honestly. Night life is good, I could tell you some really good places to go depending on what kind of music your into, or if your that into music at all. Scenery is beautiful, but nothing like Victoria. East Hastings is awesome at around 3 in the morning on any given day, first time in my life when I got to watch a crack head in a wheelchair spin donuts while crossing the street. I was actually going to move to Vancouver but didn't for stupid reasons. I love Vancouver, but that's mostly because it has a music scene that I'm really into

Stanley Park is gorgeous; East Hastings... not so much.
No, I've never heard of Oakridge Music Studios but I've heard of Oakridge Center, which is an awesome high-class mall.

What exactly do you mean by that? I know plenty of intelligent Asians. If you were referring to 'fobs,' though, I might be able to see where you're coming from...

Victoria is a city that you should visit once or twice but never live in.

Volunteering that "information" is entirely unrelated to the subject as well as, you know, pretty racist.
If you can't imagine why saying "hey, I never met an asian who wasn't a sub-human in Vancouver" would strongly suggest a prejudice against asians in Vancouver, yeah, you're kind of a racist.

I somehow forgot that you were from Vancouver. So I correct my statment slightly: There is at least one hot Asian worth going to Vancouver for :naughty:

Heh, just sayin' that almost being hit by every Asian driving a car in Van kinda sucked. And I honestly wasn't trying to be racist, just an observation. I wouldn't mind living in Victoria, but I'd have to take up surfing
