Well normally I would wait until there were more pictures but I have to post this one.

In the spoiler pic, the black text next to Kyuubi Naruto says something along the lines of:
“There are 6 tails…!! Naruto boils with past emotion!!”

And the last panel with pain he says..
“That’ll do…
But… my pain exceeds yours.”

Well I always guessed something was going to happened to either Hinate or Sakura so Naruto would lose it. And here it is. If we go by Kishi's precedence then Hinata will pull through, because she wasn't given a special segement beforehand like with Jiraiya or Asuma did. But I think this is special-she may really be toast, which is sad cause I've always rooted for the HinataxNaruto pairing.

I see Hinate coming out this 1) dead, 2) pseudo-dead and fighitng the control of Pein's sticks. 3) dead and fighitng the 6-tailed Kyuubi. The only way I see her pulling out of this is if Kishi does a deus-ex machina and maginally heals everyone including Kakashi, the frogs, which in my book would be rather lame.

Hinata;s death could be useful for some good story-telling and character development on Naruto's side. He could leave the village ro get exiled after everything settles down. Of course if Hinate manages to live they could always strike up the romance of the series, which after 437 chapters has been squat.

Guess we'll have to wait a few more agonizing weeks to find out.

This is like the most epic thing ever. Best chapter in a loooong time. Hinata confesses, dies, Naruto busts out 4 tails off rip, then he's got 6 tails.

Based off of 4 tails, I can't imagine how Pain can hold up unless the Rinnegan is just epic insane level and we haven't even seen like 10% of it's power. One village shattering Shinr Tensei probably wouldn't even dent the Kyuubi @ 4 tails, let alone 6.

Yes, because then I wouldn't have cared about it. Naruto would have, but I would not have given it much thought. The Iruka fangirls may have. Kishi picked Hinata because she's just so popular with the guys and even the girls. By popular, I mean they want to be her boyfriend/friend/protector. So seeing Hinata, the quintessential girl of a lot of guys dreams, get slaughtered by Pain... really hit home to those readers rather than just Naruto. It certainly hit me hard in that spot. While Jiraiya's situation was the loss of a grandfather figure for readers, the loss of Hinata was like the loss of a lover.

Anyway, I wasn't speaking about the people who vote on that stuff in Japan. I was speaking about the people who read Naruto and post on Naruto-related messageboards. The amount of Hinata love is evidenced in the sheer number of people who don't believe her to be dead. I was surprised by that, since all of the evidence points towards that.

Just read the chapter for the 4th or 5th time, and even though someone mentioned it earlier, I keep forgetting about Team Gai. I forgot that they weren't around for the attack. And two pages just to show them on their way back and getting close? I dont think that is for nothing. There must be a plan to use them coming up here soon. When Neji sees Hinata, he just might loose it.

Pein must have known that killing Hinata was going to push Naruto over the edge. In Sage Mode he took out 5 of your bodies. Orochimaru almost got killed by 4 tails, now add two more tails and this is going to get messy.

PS: I hope that Pein just rubbed some of Hinata's blood on the rod, because we don't see him actually stab her.

This is Naruto, where Sasuke was made into a pin cushion, had his chest torn out, yet managed to live. Where Orochimaru was obilterated TWICE yet he still lives inside of Kabuto. Where Sakura was given a killing blow yet Chiyo revived her because she still had an ounce of chakra still in her. Where Gaara was revived after being dead for 2 days with nothing but an infusion of chakra.

If you're going to write Hinata off you might as well write off Kakashi. At least she has a plausible chance of recovery. She's just been stabbed. She may be critical but at least she's in the range of Tsunade's slugs and can be stabilized, Kakashi can't. If Tsunade can't help Kakashi then who will? So it's not a question of if she can survive but will she survive? Presently, I say the odds are 60/40 against but I wouldn't swear off reading Naruto ever again if she is brought back. Hinata's death or recovery could be good character development which has been sorely needed these last 100 chatpers. We've had nothing but fights and a little down-time every now and then is good.

At first I thought maybe stabbing her off screen was sort of a censor, but then again They've shown a lot more "gruesome" things then someone getting stabbed. Hell they've shown people getting stabbed even so hiding Hinata behind some rubble must be for a reason. Course could be reading into it way too much :P.

Exactly what is the point of showing us off-screen that he killed her. Does Kishi think the public can't deal with Hinata getting stabbed. All of us knew that after Jiraiya's death anyone taking him on would also end up dead, aside from Naruto.

In all honesty, alot happened in this chapter. I think if they had actually shown her death, they would have felt the need to linger on it. By just having her die like, it felt more like she really just sacrificed herself in a fight that she had no possible way of winning or even surviving. Plus it felt so quick. You didn't even have time to process it.

I was out of town and reading it on my laptop and told my friend, "hinata just confessed"... turn the page, "Hinata just died", turnt he page, "Instant 4 tails." When I said so much stuff back to back to back with such a quickness he was like, "hold up I have to read this."

I think that by killing her offscreen, the writer PURPOSEFULLY wanted her death to come off as something that in the grand scheme of life, couldn't be dwelled on at that time and basically couldn't be processed. Naruto's reaction was like almost as instant as the reader's reaction, or specifically my reaction.

Giving her like a whole page of hitting the ground, saying a few lines afterward, Naruto getting sad and then by th eend of a page or two, he finally flares up... I feel like we would have seen 6 tails next week and probably just have gotten a closeup of his eye to let you know that he was about to go Kyuubi.

I think the quick death of Hinata is just showing that the manga is being serious and not showing a crappy scene with Naruto holding her half-dead body and Hinata whisper to Naruto and kiss then stop breathing... and then Naruto start yelling like Goku turning super saiyan while some guy with Byakugan says: "His power is over 9000!!!" or something like that...

In real battles, people die... fast.

That is the anime(like Bleach, one whole episode to explain a villain's power, one episode for a bit of background story, and one episode for the fight scene, and another episode for ending the fight).

Manga feels like it takes too long because you only read a few pages everytime they release another chapter, and they are mostly drawings and not much words.

That is never going to happen... no one kills off the main character, so what will most likely happen is: Ichigo dies, magical plot revival power, Ichigo gains some new power ->pwn the guy who kill him... OR he does not die.

In SJ stuff, we worry about everyone OTHER than the main character.

Yeah, I agree. It was supposed to be shocking to the reader, and it was shocking. It makes me feel as though the anime may possibly mess up the pacing of this scene when it comes to that.

What a fantastic chapter. The pacing of this arc is just great! Whether she is dead or not is not that big of a deal to me. I hope Kakashi stays dead and Hinata lives so Naruto and her get together. We all know Sakura's heart is with Sasuke so if Naruto ended up getting with Sakura that would be a crapload of meh to me.

I wouldn't count on Hinata not being dead, same with Kakashi. While I do believe they will come back, this allows for some serious character development for Naruto. Naruto still needs some maturing to do to become the ultimate bad@$$ shinobi he's destined to become and deaths of loved ones is a great way for it to happen, just look at the results of Jiraya. While Hinata dying wouldn't serve as much of a purpose in that regard as Jiraya (mentor, master, grandpa figure) or Kakashi (sensei, role model), she did tell Naruto she loved him before she "died". This caused Naruto to enter the six-tailed state based off of the fact that Pain has already done so much, and now he's killed a childhood friend who just professed her lifelong love for him. Later this will lead to self-blame along with the deaths of the others involving the incident, and cause serious excelerated (but needed) maturity in Naruto.

P.S. I would also like to claim that if Sakura had been switched for Hinata in the manga, the results would have been far more disaterous. I feel that Naruto would have most likely lost all control of the Kyuubi as a result of seeing his lifelong friend, teamate, and love killed before his eyes

If Hinata sent him to instant 4 tails, I can't imagine what he would have done if Sakura died in front of him. At 4 tails, its seems like Naruto has zero control whatsoever and the Kyuubi is the one in charge. I wonder what's going to happen with 6.

Assuming Naruto beats Pain... there is no Orochimaru to hold the kyuubi down long enough for Yamato to pull of some wood chains and punch him in the chest to start that jutsu. Without that, the Kyuubi will just be running around wild with nobody who could possibly stop it outside of Sasuke or Madara... who are busy on their own missions.

That makes me feel like Pein will somehow defeat the Kyuubi. Which is total BS, imo. Physical attacks don't work. Orochimaru made the Kyuubi ride a sword that can pierce anything like 200 feet in the air and the pushed across the ground like 600ft and it still didn't pierce him. I doubt Pain has something stronger than that, even if he did, can it pierce a 6 tails. The Kyuubi can expel chakra from its body, form it like putty, compress it, allow it to explode inside of him (taking ZERO damage), and then spit out a blast that can destroy like 3, 200ft tall, 10 feet thick metal gates. I doubt a Shinra Tensei is really going to have any effect on it. I certainly hope Hinata isn't dead. But I'll be a lot more pissed if Kakashi truly has bought the farm.

I am a little tired of pain now. I just find him completely uninteresting as a villain. Itachi was tons better, and now he's dead :X
Tobi/Obito/madara is nifty. I'm just kinda curious how much more Kishi has planned for Naruto (the manga) 1 year, 2 years? less?

Well she is.. so get used to it and move on..
The fact is she never really had a chance.. All Naruto ever wanted was Sasuke.. They've even kissed! Has anyone seen him kiss Hinata.. No!.. Conclusion is Hinata had to go in order for naruto's love affair with Sasuke to flourish.. If she was there it would have complicated things and Naruto would have had to choose between open gayness and "Ahh I want Sasuke.. Is he gay? No he just see's him as a brother".. :naughty:
