I'm writing a book too. I am curently 60,000 words out of an intended 70-77,000. It's a young adult novel.

My next novel will be psychological horror.

AnimeNation forum smod Ken Ohki wrote a huge book that stood about 150,000 words. If I recall right.

I've written about 50,000 words in a random fan fiction book that I never finished. That was back in the day.

wow, alot of cool people here today. well i don't know if i'll post it. for one thing i'm a christian so its based on the belif that was in the 1200s {that's the time period, has a bit of history but mostly fantasy} i like horror books too as long as not too many cussing is in it.

my book is about a four year old named charlie and he has powers, and he was given a gift of knowledge so he's smart like us. he was abandoned by his mom and his father is unknown. he lives all alone in the woods, within a tree. thats the begining, but their's way more.

I'm in the process of writing a novel with the sole purpose of having underage girls around the world fall for me. Needless to say it involves vampires, emo-teenaged characters, the Holy Grail, pointless Biblical references, sorcery, witchcraft, lousy poetry (see: emo-teenaged characters) and "love".

I might as well hop on the bandwagon...

Finished my first novel a little while ago (is around 76K words, but am expanding it to a hopeful 80K or so via editing and adding little bits here and there), first part in a thirteen part series. Plan to get it published soon.

I'm also thinking about switching back to my sci-fi classical tragedy novel, which I've had on hold since about 2005. -_-;

I wish I had the patience to write a full novel. I've written a large number of short stories but find it difficult to hold an interest in one subject long enough for significantly longer stories.

The problem I have is I get side tracked, like I know where I want the plot to go, but when I get to the end it's like Ok how did that happen again?

I wrote a 13 chapter novella which I intend to revise and publish one day. I finished it in 2005 and revised it last year. I just need to apply the revisions that I put on the printout to the actual soft copy and then I'll be in business!

I've been working on something on and off since '04.

I intend to one day make a crapload of money by publishing a novel with vampires, teenage angst, Mormon beliefs and claim that I was influenced by Austen and Shakespeare and to hopefully piss off Stephen King and kick JK Rowlings arse. :P

I've always wanted to make a Beat Generation novel, bue alas, my group of friends are hardly as interesting as the Beats....if only...

I've written some a little. Its hard for me to stick to something for more than a couple of chapters or about 10,000 words. Its pretty frustrating.

I recommend posting on Deviant Art for critique, but unless you have a crapload of watchers its hard to get any meaningful critiscism for a written work (unless its poetry, DA loves poetry).

zowie people! you know if you don't have the patience to write a whole novel, you can publish a book of collections of short stories you wrote.
this will help samuri.

I have a pretty good way of beaitng that lack of "concentration."

I prefer books with short chapters, it makes the reading more fast paced. Thus I decided every day I'd write 2,000 words, or more if I was in the mood. It worked great at the start of my book, but now that I'm near the end (the parts I always wanted to write) I slowed the pace way down, possibly as a sub concious effort to "savor" and enjoy wriitng the chapters I've always awnted to write With that said I think even if you write long chapters the 2,000 word a day goal is still pretty good.

Yeah, I write about 2,000 word chapters so I usually write one chapter a day. Yesterday I started on something new and I wrote 5,000 words. Now today I'm only 500 words into it. :(

Nice, I finished my first novel back in september of this year, about 140,000 words. It was very fun. I hope you get published and become the greatest new author of the century. But so long as you enjoy writing just finishing is a success.

Procrastination is the killer of artists/authors, the boring parts of the story basically. Especially when you've written 200 pages and nothing makes much sence.

I wouldn't mind writing a book one day. At the moment I'm writing a short story to get some ability in the field. Its not that bad if I do say so myself :) Of course I'm not the most motivated person at the best of times so it may be a long read ahead of me.

If you're serious about writing, then Godspeed my angelloving friend...:) Ignore the haters.

I'm more of a poet, but people seem to like my short stories. I've yet to sit down and commit myself to a novel.

This is like the guy who stole *my* idea for a dragon book with a few letters swapped around. I'm going to do a Courtney Love and write a book out of XXX newspaper adverts now.

I have 2 stories on my DA account!

Though it contains descriptive 'male into female transformation' content, so it's perhaps not going to be your cup of tea.

However, I'm not limited to transformation stories. A poem I wrote about Melbourne ended up in my High school yearbook.

A poem I wrote about Melbourne ended up in my High school yearbook.

I wrote a poem for my picture in the year book too. :| Cited from Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem for the Game Cube, the poem that's spoken when the game loads, by Edger Alan Poe, yes I felt a bit naive. The quote was badass none the less.

I have 21 stories finished from 2005-2008. I finished writing my first and only novel in 2005. The other 'major' work I finished was half-literary and half-comic. Everything else are short stories. Since then I've kind of quit writing fiction. I just write essays now. I don't intend to publish any of it though.

Wow... There are a lot more writers on AN than I had originally expected... and a few that I wouldn't have guessed. Yay, I'm not the only one!

Why don't you try to publish it? there is no harm on trying. If people didn't like it then get there feedback by that the next time you make a book you know what the people like and what they hate :)

Poetry ftw

I don't have the attention span to write that much. I'm sure if I did it'd be kickass, but...

Alas, 't was not meant to be... :uhh:

Anyways, my only advice is hope for the best, but don't be crushed when they turn you down. The publishing industry is one of the most cut-throat industries in the world. It'll take some time for you to get on your feet. Just keep hacking away at it.

So you've not heard about sign languages? If that's the case, well you can also write and read text written in sign languages, of course to do that you need to learn to read and write first. It is pretty cool.

But I guess it is not so smart starting a discussion with someone banned. Err-well, I guess I do have a book in the work aswell. I've pretty much finished one chapter, started a few others and I do come up interesting things to write every day. But I'm just so incredibly lazy and I've not really written much.

As random peculiarity I've named the first chapter; "Rat in a Jar".
