What if the series really is ending? It could be that Naruto is captured and taken to Akatsuki. Sasuke is there and would probably have to participate in the extraction ritual. With Itachi dead and the destruction of Konoha, his whole revenge thing has been accomplished. He was never really a bad guy imo, just motivated by revenge. With that done, will he idly stand by while his only friend in life is murdered in front of him?

That sets up something like the Rescue Gaara arc where like everyone in the village is going is going out to save him. Sasuke would have to face Madara or Pain and potentially, Naruto gets a rematch or a fight.

Plus we haven't seen whatever it was that Itachi gave Naruto. I'm sure that in the presence of Sasuke and Madara, it will have to be exposed.

tbh, I think there is a good chance that there will be a sasuke vs naruto battle to end series, perhaps not but its possible

But they don't have any real reason to fight anymore. They fought the first time because Sasuke wanted to go to Orochimaru to get revenge for the person who killed off his entire family and clan and Naruto was basically willing to resort to extreme violence to convince Sasuke that his clan getting killed was totally ok and that he should just pretend like it never happened (as you can see by how I typed, I think the idea is nonsense).

But now... why would they fight? Sasuke actually killed Orochimaru. He's gotten his revenge on Itachi. Konoha has been destroyed by Pain so they've paid the price for their actions. At this point, if Naruto and Sasuke fight, what would they be fighting for? Just to see who's stronger? They only did that in the past because (hospital rooftop) because Sasuke wanted to see how strong he was to gauge whether he'd ever be able to beat Itachi.

They will fight... to become Chuunin.:) They'll both enter the exam, pwn all others except for the lucky ones who managed to stay out of their way, and then proceed to pwn at the finals until they have to face each other. It will be epic.

I don't think that Akatsuki is going to get Naruto though. There just isn't anyone left, on the Konoha side, who could stand toe-to-toe with Pain, so they would have little chance of successfully rescuing Naruto. Sure, they could try teamwork, but Pain's teamwork seems to be much more effective than all of the other Konoha ninjas, minus Kakashi and Gai. Also... it would not be cool to have Naruto taken at this point only to have Sasuke come in and take out all 6 Pain bodies as well as Konan and Madara, just to save Naruto. It would REALLY diminish Naruto in the eyes of many fans if that happened.

^ I think its gonna be a super kick *** collaboration. All the major fights (involving either Naruto, Sasuke or Sakura) in Naruto are surrounded by a gangload of one vs one battles.

This isn't based off of anything concrete, but I think there is going to be a huge Sai, Neji, Rock Lee, Kiba, Hinata and Temari battle. These guys haven't done a damn thing in all of Shippudden. Akatsuki keeps replacing people once they die/leave and if my memory is correct, they have a full house still.

I think Naruto is captured, Sasuke is like, "hmmm... don't do this." Madara is like, "Either put up or shut up". He starts something on Naruto but it back fires and unlocks whatever it was that Itachi gave him. Naruto usually relies on the Kyuubi's powers when its an epic fight so maybe Itachi's thing lets him bust out more tails without the negative side effect (like the 8 tails could).

Sasuke is like, "no stop it" and starts fighting Madara. The new Naruto is fighting Pain and is struggling (although without sage mode he's still doing surprisingly good). In the middle of it, the Venus flytrap dude is like, "I sense people coming" so Pain and Madara are like, "you other guys have to stop them. We've got all the beast stored in this statue and we can't afford to let these guys take this and start us all the way back from zero."

You start to have a "friends forever" battle of Neji + Hinata vs someone, Rock Lee + Gai vs someone, Tsunade + Sakura vs someone, Temari+Shikamaru vs someone and whatever else will induce the patented Naruto "friends and family conquers all" theme.

All this is going on, Naruto sees that his friends came for him and is like, "yeah, with my friends here I can't back down. I'm the gutsy ninja, this is for you Ero-Senin!!" and starts beating Pain.

Yeah I'm pretty sure they're skipping chuunin level at this point. :P

I think for whatever reason that in the end Naruto and Sasuke will sort of team up against Madara and Pein. For sure the kyuubi will make an appearance of some sort and then we'll find out what Itachi gave Naruto. I still am not sure in the actual end of Naruto if he will actually become a Hokage or not. Either he will or he'll be dead or stay a sage. Either way, I don't see Sasuke as wanting to be Hokage... it was never his dream but I could picture him as being like one of the Anbu Black Ops. if Naruto does become Hokage.

I hope it is kind of like something Oro did to sasuke, then we can see Itachi return at full power with no illness, then he can wipe that cocky smirk off sasuke
