Are you in the paper?

Newsday?
On the front page is the article. I'm only asking because first I see someone that looks kinda like you, then the article is about hospital assisstants, then I see Filipino.

If it is you, what's up?
If not, don't think I'm like racially profiling or something. -_-;

P.S, this is a thread instead of a PM in the case that it is him, it would take off. If it's not him, talk about if you ever made it into a paper.

I was in an issue of Birdtalk magazine back in 1986 or so. I was 6 years old and had my pet cockatiel sitting on my head.

In Jr. High I was part of my ecology club and I vaguely remember being in the local newspaper for helping clean up a river that went through the city.

oh and i almost forgot LOL

My friends and I are in some tiny photos in the back of one of the ROBOT comic anthologies (vol. 5 I think). Apparently Yoshitoshi Abe (the artist who does Lain and some other series) was at an anime convention taking photos, and my friends and I were in one of them. We had no idea, I just randomly found it when I got the book in the mail (I collected all of the ROBOT books).

I've made it into the paper twice.

The first time was when my magazine was first launched. This did not hurt.

The second time was when I hit a car on my bicycle and put my face through the windshield. This hurt quite a bit.

I'm really hoping not to ever make it into the paper again.

Everyone in the philippines is a damn nurse but still asks me for money.

I was in the newspaper a couple of times, and a couple of times in the police blotter.

I was in the newspaper once because my family moved to a new town (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orangeville,_Ontario) when I was but a small child and the inhabitants apparently have never seen triplets before.

A few days ago I saw a commercial with a woman who looks remarkably like Shiroiyuki... Or at least looks remarkably like the woman in the pictures Shiro posted a while back.

Three of my friends made it into Google Earth. That was pretty awesome. Faces were blurred, but I could totally tell who they were.

^ LOL "Dude, I'm the little pixelated man walking on that sidewalk!"

You know, Japan is now legislating laws that will make it possible for tons of healthcare professionals from the Philippines to live and work there. They will be utilized in hospitals that typically receive English speakers, considering Filipinos are more likely to speak English than Japanese. It's one of many first steps Japan is taking to open its doors to foreign immigration, finally.

... haha. we've been doing that for the past few decades, although, instead of providing health care professionals, we provide, er, "entertainers" of the exotic kind.

I found my house on there. I could see that my Aunt put out the laundry to dry that day.

Yes, and since Desslock won't follow his normal verbose styling, someone else will have to pick up the slack...

I've never been in a legitimate publication, though I did get published in a fan-art section of a "local" fanzine called Oddysey when I was eleven or twelve. I wrote and illustrated comics in my free time and met a couple of the publishers of the 'zine at an Atlanta-area comic book show. I picked up a couple issues, read through it and submitted a couple fan art portions. I'm sure I have the copies with my work in it in a box with all of my other comics.

My next "brush" with "fame" came as I was interviewed by the University newspaper twice while in school. The first time was about a "social" club I was presiding over. For the sake of not naming names, we'll call it the Nerd Gaming Club, and the school paper seemed interested in it because we were strictly a social organisation that was not a fraternity/sorority, public service, or academics based. Or, well, I thought they were. The article contained enough factual errors and mis-quotes that I wound up trashing and disavowing all memory of the incident. It, however, was not so bad that it required letters to the editor.

The second time I was published I made front page as I was going over rules and strategies for the Collegiate Cyber Defence Competition (http://www.nationalccdc.org/) that I had competed in as a team captain. That article ended up much better and I have a copy that's going to get framed with my B.Sc. diploma and other CCDC stuff.

I remember that I had found my old house in Ohio (the people who'd moved in tore down my tree house :( ) and my friend amazingly found his old house in Mississauga. I then discovered that Treptow Park in Berlin was also featured in Google Maps.
