View Full Version : 2099: will you be alive?

Well, it's almost 2009, and you'll all be alive (hopefully, unless I kill SP for not pming me back) for the new year, but what about 2099? Ya think you will have given up the ghost by then?

Hopefully Transhumanism will be mostly complete by then, and I can get a newer body, or a upgraded body with near immortality with surgery and stuff. Or become a robot, or if I'm about to die, get frozen until they can bring me back.

well the human age is getting older and older by the year, 100 years might be the peek age for a lot of elderly at that time, but I can't give all hopes up to that.

Unless there's some serious advances in technology, there is no way I want to live past 70, much less over 100...

The probability is not zero.

First, imortality technology is gaining speed, and will be among us this century. Before than, robotics would mature to the point that cyberization of teh human body will exist in a few years.

I'll probably be dead.

If science and tech catch up before then I may become a cyborg but my mind is not cut out to be a cyber brain.

In reality, I only expect to live to about 70-80 years of age.

Considering the fact that you may die at any moment, I don't see how you can say what your chances are of being alive in ninety years.

If we go off of current life expectancy standards, I'll be dead.

It is a relative estimation of the average human life span, of course this does not over rule the fact that people could die at any moment. It's just a rough general assumption for the average life span.

Current research is uncovering the mechanisms behind aging, so I think it's reasonable to expect the aging process to be eliminated somewhere in the next 30 years. If that's the case, I don't plan on dying. I'll be there in 2099.

I'll be dead long before that. I'm averaging one potentially fatal bike crash every 20 years, so my next one is due in 2028 or so. We'll see how long I last after that.

I don’t even want to live that long (I would be 118 years old.) So, no I would not be alive.

Lets put it this way. By 2099 I would have become a part of the Earth again. I would be 121 years old by October of that year. I choose "other" since I don't think I'm going to hell.

It would be nice to think that there might be a massive extension to the human lifespan before I die. I don't want to live forever, but a few hundred years would be nice. With that said, I think I would have to agree with Lemina. I'll probably be food for the worms before my 125th birthday.

I might be able to make it to the late 2060s or early 2070s. I was born in 1987 so I'd be in my 80s around then.

But if the music in the 2060s - 2070s is going to be as good as it was in the 1960s - 1970s, then I'll definitely stick around longer through sheer willpower.

And it's going to be odd as hell in the future when the 2020s and 2030s become known as the 20s and 30s.

Well, as far as generation gap, that would be a problem. Nobody, regardless of any part of the history of the world, likes their parents or even grandparents for that matter being into their music. Unless they're into THEIR music.

By the year 2099 (keeping with the Jesus theme btw, so feel free to skip to the next post..........) if Jesus hasn't come back yet I'm gonna go skydiving until one day my chute doesn't open and I can go up there and see what the hold up is....shortly after plummeting thousands of feet to my death.

Haha, true indeed. It pisses me off to no end when my dad makes fun of my japanese music yelling ASOOOOOOOOOOOO or TORA TORA nonstop. I do like a lot of the same classical music he likes.

I can't stand my mom's taste in music though. I can stand some old fashioned mexican ranchero music, but I have my limits.

--

I doubt I'll live to be 115. If I really do have Marfan syndrome (given it's highly likely because I have enough heart murmurs that are typical of the syndrome), I'll probably be getting a dissecting aortic aneurism long before then. It's what killed that actor.. uhh John Ritter, yeah. That thing kills you insanely fast. Doubt I could benefit from mechanic parts either. Haha

Hahaha, I have non cardiac stigma that's related to Marfans. I can contort some of my joints into inhumane positions. My shoulders "click" everytime I benchpress with them. It's creepy to be hearing that horrible noise. I used to be able to dislocate my left shoulder very easily but I can't anymore because I did a bit of rehab. Right wrist.. ahem well the clicking noise that comes from there creeps people out even more. I have other stigma too, I bet something interesting will show up in my eyes. If I have a subluxated cristaline, I'll be sure I have it without even needing genetic testing hehe.

I always thought my crappy wrist was because of the second degree burns I had on it when I was a kid. Then my traumatologist laughed at me for that. Had he not told me I could have one of those collagen diseases, I would have never realized it until I dropped dead or no reason somewhere when I turn 40.

I didn't een self diagnose it, I told a genetics teacher if he thought I had Ehler-Danlos and he said he doubts I have that. So, it's either Marfan (highly likely), homocystinuria (doubt it because I'd have the IQ of a peanut or a mexican politician) or Stickler syndrome (which I really doubt because I don't have blue scleras and the typical face that someone with that disease has).

Or *maybe* everything is just a strange coincidence and I'm just being neurotic as usual.

My Great Grandmother is actually 108 years old and still alive, if anyone can believe that.

Though I wish that they can just freeze my old body, clone my body that doesn't have a working brain but only works to keep the body alive till its age 18-21ish then replace it with my own original brain, after of course they repair the old age out of my original brain, so I can think like a 21 year old again, then repeat till the end of time.
