Anyone else a fan of the Beat Generation?

Kerouac, Burroughs, and Ginsberg?

I'm just finishing up On The Road and was thinking of moving onto Naked Lunch.

Any other fans?

I've read On the Road ages ago.

Tried to read Naked Lunch but couldn't get into it.

And I've had to read Howl when I was in college.

I actually just lost my copy of On the Road, I left it on a bus :/. But it is one of my favorite books, I love Kerouac, especially Visions of Gerard

I got Dharma Bums for Xmas. I haven't yet started it, I just finished Choke by Palahniuk and am into Clockwork Orange. I also got, for my birthday, the novel that Kerouac and Burroughs wrote together entitled "And the Hippos Were Boiled in Their Tanks". Looks amazing.

I also got Howl for christmas from my cousin. It was a quick read, but I had to read it several times to fully take it all in. I loved it.

And the Hippos was just released right? I seen it in Chapters a couple days ago, I'll probably end up buying it

I'm into Dharma Bums now. It takes right off, it's really good.
It's funny because every book he rights has more friends of his that I want to check out next.

I'm thinking of picking up either Big Sur or Visions of Cody.

So I'm reading Junky by William Burroughs now. I think I like him better than Kerouac!

It's been a while since I read most Beat stuff, but I like it. Queer by Burroughs is cool just because the whole basis of it is so strange and happens to be based in reality. But the whole life story of Burroughs is pretty fascinating in and of itself.

I was reading some of Book of Blues by Kerouac a while back.

There are some cool audio works out there associated with the Beats, including some readings and original stuff, as well as a quirky, flat monotone cover of some old song sung by Burroughs, with music by REM, that was done for an X Files soundtrack CD in the 90s.

I have this double disc set called 2%, or something like that, which is a bunch of stuff by and relating to Burroughs by lots of artists. I haven't listened to it in AGES, but I recall it being really cool and unique.
