I'm almost embarrassed to be asking this question, as I would think it being very old would be quite answered, but no amount of Googling has eased my confusion. It seems like the answer would be so obvious, but ANN, Wikipedia, MAL, even the Clements & McCarthy encyclopedia--they all seem to point every which way.

Who composed the music for the Hellsing TV series: Kouji Ishii or Yasushi Ishii? Or was it actually both of them and someone has plotted to pull a fast one on me by never admitting it?

I do believe Ishii Yasushi (http://youmix.co.uk/albums/791) (石井妥師) is a composer, while Ishii Kouji (http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E7%9F%B3%E4%BA%95%E5%BA%B7%E5%97%A3) (石井康嗣) is a voice actor. I believe the confusion stems from the fact that the kanji for "Kouji" can also be read as "Yasushi", so at least in ANN's case, their database is redirecting all info pertaining to Yasushi to read as Kouji.

Scans from the Hellsing (TV) OSTs do credit the music (in kanji) to Ishii Yasushi (石井妥師) though.

Yep, it's Yasushi Ishii. I have the soundtrack and he's given the credit for all the songs. Damn good stuff, too. I'm surprised he hasn't done more work....

Yes, the Hellsing soundtracks are absolutely amazing. It harkens back to the old skool English rock, and is very original and trippy. Has he ever done anything else?
