The NBA season tips off next week, what are you looking forward to?
Well, the Rockets being my favorite team, I'm anxious to see them play again. Hopefully they can finally win a playoff game, it's not T macs fault though. I can't wait to see some more Western Conference action again this season.
Just some early picks, I'm picking Utah to win the west, and Orlando to win the east.

Basketball hasn't been kind to me for many years now. All I want from this upcoming season is for the Knicks to no longer be the joke of the league. I think we're finally on our way to changing the culture with Donnie Walsh and Mike D'Antoni running the show. My expectations aren't high at all after watching garbage for 7 years in a row. I just want to have fun watching basketball again and the pre-season thus far has been just that. We have a style (at long last) and I'm actually surprised at how quickly they've grasped it. Other than that, for teams that actually have a shot at winning the gold... I'm pulling for the Lakers.

I used to be a basketball junkie, but the past some years I have barely paid attention to the NBA. This year I will watch games and follow the players. I'm just looking forward to a good season.

Rockets over the Mavs 112-102. 2-0 now.
Hornets and Suns is going to be an interesting game.

Curry and Marbury being benched, looks like D'Antoni means business.

It's such a breath of fresh air having competent people in charge. I don't expect much given the situation and huge hole that's been dug. But it's the little things that matter. Still a loooong way to go, but most games will at least be exciting and it's been a very long time since I could just sit back and enjoy the game. The biggest cap problems are Randolph, Crawford and Curry. I look at Curry as the hardest to move despite the rumors. So I'm pulling for the other two to have big years so they're easier to trade. If Donnie can get rid of 2/3 we're in real good shape cap wise. D'Antoni is the man. Everything I could want in a coach. Still hard to believe he's here.

That's pretty much my story too. It's been so long that I don't know whose on which team and what players are the strongholds of a team, or anything like that.
I watched the Rockets-Mavs and was pleasantly surprised by Ron Artest's playing and by the whole Rockets team.
So things are looking up.

2-4 weeks for the big fella... That's got to really sting and now most people are going to write him off as an injury prone player before he's even gotten a chance to break a sweat. Not a good start by any means. I think he's going to be heavily criticized for a good while. The pressure of being a first pick can be overwhelming and his offensive game still needs a lot of work. Outside of dunking (won't be able to get as many as college) he's pretty limited around the basket. But he'll be a really good rebounder from the beginning.

His injuries went throughout college too though, he played left handed most of the season because he had his right hand in a cast.
I was surprised to find out he didn't even score more than 15 ppg in high school.

The Celtics are looking good so far this season again, I wonder what chances they have this season of repeating. They probably have a good chance of winning the East again.
Who changed my thread title? It was just NBA before.

You should expect good regular seasons and bad underachieving postseasons. D'Antoni is good for offense but he still cant figure out what defense is. It is also reported he wants to Waive Starbury but upper management is blocking it.

Post season? That just sounds hilarious to me. We've got such a long way to go. I like this offense when things are clicking, but these aren't the most ideal players... The whole Marbury thing is complicated, yet he's not doing anything yet to be a major distraction. Dolan (the owner) is the only thing standing in the way of the buyout. The goal is to let Steph accept lesser money so he can play elsewhere. Otherwise he's going to pretty much rot on the bench in street clothes from the looks of it. It's total rebuild mode at long last. Looks more like a D-League team out there heh.

At least David Lee is getting playing time. I swear Isiah had some type of whitey racism when it came to him.
Oh and I changed the thread title.

I feel bad for Greg Oden..Portland can't afford another Sam Bowie. I like D'Antoni. I can't stand Marbury and I think Curry is benched too. D'Antoni will turn the Knicks around in time.

Allen Iverson is being traded to the Pistons for Chauncey Billups and Antonio McDyss.

Good for AI, Nuggets are horrible. Camby was the only defender on that team lol.

That's a whole lot of cap space coming for Detroit with Sheed also coming off after this season. Looks like they're finally starting over and will be in pretty good position to get someone good in a few years. That team was fun to watch because the chemistry was great and they got to win a championship. But it was starting to get stale and changes were needed. A job well done once again by Joe Dumars.
As for the Nuggets... well Melo finally has a guy who can get him the ball at will. They get a clutch 3 point shooter and defender in Billups but I'm really confused here. They chucked Camby to try and save money and yet they take on Billups (he's getting up there in age) contract that goes all the way to 2012. Word is McDyess doesn't want to be there. I don't blame him. He's probably going to retire once his contract is up and moving yet again is probably a hassle.

AI and Billups are about the same age, I think AI is a year older. I suppose the Nuggets know they aren't a contender, I think they needed to try something. It really wasn't working out with AI, they have a better defender and peremiter shooter with Billups. It'll probably be better long term for the Nuggets with Billups than AI, I think. The same goes for Detroit, they have just been so close every year but kept coming up short. They also needed to make a move, and I think AI was probably one of their only options.
I think it's an interesting trade for both sides, but overall it's better for Detroit. Maybe I feel that way just because Detroit is going to be a contender for the eastern conference. AI gives them that offensive excitement and firepower than can bring them to a new level.

Iverson is about a year older, but that wasn't the point I was making. I can't see AI being a Piston past this year. With him and Sheed both being expiring contracts, that's 35 million off the cap. The chances of neither of them being re-signed is very big. I agree that it makes things interesting for both teams though. It's just that the Nuggets side of things makes me scratch my head. I guess they feel they were going no where and needed a change sooner than later. *shrugs*
What's the Piston line up going to look like now? I thought they wanted Stuckey to be the point guard of the future for them? I think AI should play shooting guard who sometimes brings the ball up and switch in and out with Hamilton. I wonder how Hamilton will play without his partner in crime.
Naraku

I can't see AI playing shooting guard. Especially when the Pistons have someone as good as Hamilton. Stuckey will most likely come off the bench, be the "6th man". Probably play a little Point Guard and Shooting Guard, spelling both AI and Hamilton. That's just my guess.
The Pistons could probably use a small line up too, get all three on the floor with Rasheed Wallace, and whoever they use at Center(Kwame Brown?). I'm not that familiar with the Pistons roster, I haven't seen them play yet this season.

Heh, same here. Totally forgot Kwame was on the Pistons. Go figure... We'll see how it goes.

Suns and Rockets about to tip off, should be a great game. Shaq about to become #10 all time on points list. And those goggles that Amare has been wearing are pretty old school haha.
