Unless you're planning a trip to the Great Kali river, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

If you are, bring a friend who can't swim very well.

Don't forget to bring along the stereotypically smug british man to use as a secondary decoy. :naughty:

Ya know, lots of people sell beginer aquarium owners certain breeds of cat fish (Red river catfish in particular) and neglect to mention they can grow to be huge.

In fact, in aquariums, it seems the cat fish and algae eaters seem to develop a taste for the slime coating on the other fish, which leads to fish genocide. My mom learned the hard way.

Also, catfish can really mess you up with their fins and junk, that's why you gotta grab 'em by the throat, well rather by the mouth, but grabbing by the throat sounds more asthetically pleasing

I remember this article, looks like these catfish have developed teeth as well - not sure how true that is though.

They are fairly wicked looking (http://www.world-of-science-news.com/world-of-science-news/have-giant-indian-catfish-developed-a-taste-for-human-flesh-zooillogix/) compared to the usual rounded catfish. I doubt eating rotted carcasses is going to make them into evil vampire catfish.

Third world countries believe crap like that though. One of my elderly great aunts talks about a devil pig that would open a hole up in a riverbank near her childhood village near Piedras Negras and rise up from hell and eat corpses. She said the men would shoot at it and the bullets would go through it and not hurt it and it only came when rich or bad people died. <_< More than likely a feral hog was caught digging up a body, was shot ran away and vanished and they found a cave entrance or a big hole and it grew from there.

Don't forget, nearly all religions starts from people watching things and trying to retell what they actually saw. It's the difference between folk telling and actual truth.

Kind of hard to flush a catfish down a toilet. Not that toilets are relevant here, anyway, as people don't go swimming in sewers or dump dead bodies into them.

But if it's dead wouldn't it be ashes? If they get cremated and all (the people not the fish).

Well when I was younger my family used to keep exotic fishes and all and we had 3-4 catfish. One of them carked it and I was told to go flush it down the toliet. It went down quite nicely.

I meant Philipinos, no offence. You guys eat some sick stuff. I'd rather eat that stuff at the Texas State Fair. However there's fried cheese steak sandwiches and the one here in Arizona.:x

And that "catfish" looks like it was by a nuclear power plant or something. If this keeps happening in the future I smell a B-rated Hollywood movie. Of course they'd film it in the Mekong river instead since that is known for it's enormous catfish.

Yes all fish do, catfish teeth are usually small but several have teeth like this. There are even wood eating, singing, and electric catfish.

This thread is actually the opposite of flushing fish down the toilet. This is about sending people up the river and the fish eating them, rather than sending fish down the drain and whatever-is-down-there eating them.

The solution to this problem may be to bury corpses, and release the catfish's natural enemy into the river...

Reminds me of the redneck fishing technique, called "noodling". You wiggle your fingers in the water until a big catfish grabs your hand. If you're lucky, you can wrestle the fish into your boat. Otherwise, you're catfish chow...

I was referring to the urban legend about NYC sewers. Anyone know people there who can verify such a thing?

The relevancy is not what is relevant here. Levity Yuki :) A well placed foil for flushing fish down the toilet. If it's Florida, then I believe it...why are we talking about pythons?
