I only saw the second half of it (my dentist took forever to change the wires for my braces). While I don't like Obama, I think he sort of won it. He still stuttered (and McCain didn't take advantage of it), but Obama was concise and got to the point.
McCain looked senile and blabbered on his one issue issue: Irak Irak Irak Irak.. oh, and Irak. I can understand he means well about giving better treatment to veterans, but veterans don't make up most of the population of the country and are just a minor problem when you compare that to people about to lose their homes or job outsourcing (wasn't this debate going to be about foreign issues and not the economy?).
In a great surprise, Obama was the only one that even mentioned anything about Latin America (Oh my! We're on the world map!!) in the debate. Sure, Irak takes away a lot of dough and such and Russia picking on little countries sure sucks, but Venezuela talking to Russia about building a nuclear program? Doesn't that ring a red light? Mexico didn't even exist during the debate = PHAIL.
I hope the next debate of Palin/Biden will be far better.

I'm sure most people who identify themselves with one party or the other already know who they're voting for. These debates are basically to sway the undecided.
I didn't watch it but from what I've read and hear Mr. Obama may have looked better to the aforementioned group than Mr. McCain.
Caster13
September 29th, 2008, 01:34 PM
Please he outright won that debate, hands down. He stuttered a little, big freakin whoop. He stands for a lot better things than McCain, and has a lot better plan.
However even though there's a good chance people in this country will vote him for president, the ****ing electoral college can go the opposite way. And of course those bastards are easily swayed by bribery.
Or someone will shoot him at some point. If not, then he can fix this country.

Didn't Obama mention somewhere he wants to bring several tens of millions of muslim immigrants to the US? (Don't want a flame war to start, but if this is so, this will cause problems, not fix them). France only has a couple million muslims and they burned half of Paris a few years ago. There's just a limit on how much cultural meshing the US will be able to tolerate if this happens.

If not, then he can fix this country.
As much as I'd like to think it'd be as easy as electing one person to do this, there needs to be a fundemental change in the way people think before this country will ever be 'fixed'.
I guess it all depends on whether you think there's a problem(and how large of it is) with the country or not. I'm sure there are some people who are quite content with the way things are.
(Just throwing this out there, not trying to bait a flame-war)

I don't think the debate changed anyone's mind about either candidate. Debates just seem to be a "don't f*** up and you'll be fine" sort of deal. Only doing extremely poorly (and this has more to do with image in the minds of your average voter not so much policy) could change voters perceptions.
I may or may not have stated this here before. But I am withdrawing my support for Barack Obama, in favor of a candidate that better suits my views: Roosevelt Franklin (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRH5-q7iFS0&feature=related)

Personally I didn't have any strong connections wit ether candidate. All this debate was about was cannon fodder for the undecided group. But I will say that I'm leaning to Barack Obama if for anything because I don't want Sarah Palin anywhere near the President seat.
And on a side note I'm so recording the VP debate.
If I was a woman Sarah Palin in office in any forum would scare me where I couldn't sleep for days. And not to throw the race card but as we all know Republicans are cut throat with Democrats. And if Obama had a daughter pregnant out of wedlock they would have torn him a new one but its ok for Sarah HUH<_<........................................ ........................................ .....

hahaha, you get mad at me for someone posting neutrally then going on a tyrade once people start posting, you are damn right i should be upset, people cant discuss anything civil without freaking out. He asked no questions in his followup, he did not forward the debate at all. This is why threads like these get locked. Because people get called out for being internet selfish, instead of discussing, you people complain and tell everyone your opinion without trying to facilitate honest discussion. And then you go on to call Palin a fool. Really? Seriously you call someone vastly more intelligent than you a fool? She has been a mayor, a govenor, and now runs for VP of the United States of America and you call her a fool? Wait a minute...where do you get off calling another person a fool when your whole life has nothing to show about you? What have you done for this world where you get to sit in a chair and cast judgment on someone else? Oh you watch Anime, well that damn well show me how qualified you are to personally cast opinions.

You're almost as good as McCain's PR people. Which is to say you're not even as good as a laughingstock.
Sarah Palin is not intelligent, she's a bumpkin who thinks the rapture is bound to happen any time now. There's no intelligence or educational requirement for the offices she's held.

Let Sarah be Sarah!, as the winger talking heads say. Her convention speech that wowed the base was written for the V.P. candidate before anybody knew who it was going to be, and she frightens more and more sane people in the reality-based community each time she opens her mouth. It would take a huge blunder by Biden to overshadow this self-destructing ticket. I can barely read the transcripts of her Couric interview without wincing. I think I'll read the paper instead. Or maybe all of them. Or any of them that have been in front of me all these years.

Hey is anyone getting ready to see the Palin/Biden debate tonight? Too bad I'll miss it; I'm stuck at my university on a chatroom class (I could technically do the class at a computer with internet at my home, but there's no way I'd get home on time for the class in just 30 minutes in rush-hour traffic unless I got on a helicopter.. or had my very own B't) >_>.
I hope Fox News or CNN repeats it or at least the best parts of the debate.

This isn't a knock towards anyone who likes either of the candidates but when's the last time you could listen to a political candidate and feel like something great was happening(or going to) instead of playing the old 'lesser of two evils' game.
Both the VP candidates are incredibly difficuly to watch and listen to, just like their running mates. Ugh.

From the debate I heard, Biden outclassed Palin, who mispronounced words like "nuclear".
I don't think a person who holds high office should pronounce it "nukeular". Maybe that's just me.
As far as the quality of the debate... eh, it was dull. Objectively speaking, I think Biden won, but since most viewers watching it weren't objective, I don't think anyone's vote will be changed by it.
The only thing I found remarkable about the debate was the pundits who afterwards said, "I don't think there's any question that Palin won." Really!? I mean, if I really stretch it, I might be able to say both put in a decent performance. I might also be able to say that she didn't fail as big as she certainly had the potential to fail. But win? Come on... how can you tell a lie that big with a straight face? Seriously. Even I can't do that.

Doesn't surprise me one bit. ACORN kept begging me to register for their organization after I funded 89.3 KNON in Dallas, which is a local station that routinely runs their ads based on the amount of money recieved from them.
ACORN is a farce and should not be considered an actual progressive organization. Any organization that relies on far left politics and distortion tactics needs to DIAF. They haven't done anything of actual value and I'm concerned that they use their organization to keep people from striving for better things.
Bland satisfaction seems to be the new American Dream and it pisses me off.
The thing that bothers me about neosoc is how far they've taken the "liberal" tag to its extreme ends and destroyed its real meaning, choosing instead to brainwash people instead of offering a real alternative, much like the neocon base.

Tonight's debate was boring.
The only interesting thing politically that happened this week is people have finally begun sifting through the no-no Annenberg Challenge papers which is showing something different from what the Obama spin room is trying to sell. The right is jumping on it the wrong way, the entire purpose of the grant was not to educate people but give money to local groups who instead of teaching spread according to Ayers "Radical Ideology" Coming from Ayres that is downright scary.
