View Full Version : Rant: Complaint about people saying to stop complaing.
Lacan
September 27th, 2008, 05:44 PM
I know people will use the "Its b****ing" excuse but its no longer going to work. Okay I hear this on everything, protesting and complaining works, so does fighting. You expect me and millions of other people in this world to give up.
Do we live in a world culture where we have to accept everything that gets fed to us without questioning. It seems so here and everywhere online and even in the media. If something is wrong and a bunch of people complain, protest and fight to correct a wrong there is a very high chance that wrong will be corrected.
Of course everyone online and the rest of the world will say that's its whining. To those people: you are the reason why progress isn't made and why everything is still a mess.
Of course there are some things that there really isn't no reason to whine about.
And this topic is very broad, it can be through politics, religion, law, even to trivial things like video games, anime and movies. People do listen, if you are loud enough with enough people. Whatever happened to "we are the people"?
I just need to let this rant out of my mind. I've been thinking about this lately.

Complaining is alright on the forums in the fact that it brings people together. One person says "hey, this sucks," and everybody else is like "effin' A." I agree that complaining about other posters or situations gets annoying at times, though - because being positive is the only way to get through life.

It seems we're confusing base "complaining" with "complaining then doing something"...
If you just whine and b**** and complain, then do nothing about it, then YES, QUIT YER WHINING.
But if you plan on actually doing something about it, then "complaining" is a good way to gather your forces - to organize people behind a cause...in that case, more power to ya!
Unfortunately, most complaining online is overwhelmingly category A and rarely ever category B...

Like when some people find something politically incorrect and start protesting about something someone/some people did that is even .00001% suggestive at something even remotely offensive or morally objective? And start screaming "racist!", or "homophobe!", or "sexist!", well you get my point.
In THAT case, then yes....STFU and stop your whining!!!!!!!!!!

I guess I made my topic a bit too broad, you can complain as long as its a very good reason. Like if someone is just wasting money that can be used for better things in this country. Actually I complain about too much political correctness, I believe in the freedom of speech even if the speech or word is offensive.

I'm confused...who are you addressing this to?
Do we live in a world culture where we have to accept everything that gets fed to us without questioning. It seems so here and everywhere online and even in the media. If something is wrong and a bunch of people complain, protest and fight to correct a wrong there is a very high chance that wrong will be corrected.
The key here is fighting to correct that wrong. It's my experience that complaints and protests rapidly end up in the circular file (trash can). We don't live in a world where we have to accept everything, though that is the objective of mainstream outlets, such as the 'media.'
Of course everyone online and the rest of the world will say that's its whining. To those people: you are the reason why progress isn't made and why everything is still a mess.
No, the reason progress isn't made is because people whine and don't do anything about it. No one is going to move to a cause when they don't see a problem.
Of course there are some things that there really isn't no reason to whine about.
Please rephrase this; "isn't no reason" is confusing usage.
And this topic is very broad, it can be through politics, religion, law, even to trivial things like video games, anime and movies. People do listen, if you are loud enough with enough people. Whatever happened to "we are the people"?
Loud enough with the RIGHT people, perhaps. I don't think there ever was a "we are the people"
I just need to let this rant out of my mind. I've been thinking about this lately.
Maybe blog about it? It sounds like you're contributing to the very thing you're ranting about.

I want to find a blog that I can sign up online that has the least restrictive TOS. And yeah I admit I'm a hypocrite 90 percent of the time. I can't even explain things correctly I realize. Most of the time I make do stuff out of angry and regret it later.
I went to some political online forums and they said that the protesters are whiny complainers.
Maybe I got this weird I want to save the world and send the message out mentality.
But I also made this topic for trivial things like when someone complains about even small stuff like PC gaming DRM, or about disagreements of if a certain movie is good or if the person directed it should be kicked out, etc.
In general I am a very bad speaker.

Keep complaining. If people stop complaining eventually stupid crap would become the norm. Like if everyone stopped complaining about music without guitar solos, we'd live in a world without guitar solos! Quit complaining is just a cowardly way of saying I don't agree with what you think but I don't think I can beat you in an arguement so instead i'll just try and make it seem like you're a whiner.

/thread.
That pretty much sums it up, people tend to complain about alot of stupid things, espically on the internet. I don't see why the OP needed to write an essay when he can simply ignore the people he's referring to. It's not like there is a law that says, once someone uses the phrase 'stop complaining' you immediatly have to stop or risk facing capitol punishment.
You have a right to complain, I have a right to tell you to shut it.

I also think that the urge to not complain is a discipline in itself. Just ignore it if you don't like it.

BTW I am aware that I make retarded mistakes, I just haven't figured a way to fix them, but like a brick wall blocking my path my personal strategy is to turn and walk another direction, or try to find a break in the wall and climb through, or actually observe and learn to be part of the wall and eventually get to the other side.

Thomas Jefferson once said Paraphrased of course "I have not failed in my design, I have just discovered 1,000 different ideas that do not work."
Failures are the beginning of creation, Humanity is an animal built on mistakes, it might have taken us 10,000 years to develop a perfect government, and we're still not perfect. It might take me time to adjust and mold into a group, but this does not mean I will never change.
Just take my typing skills for example: 2005, certainly the way I composed my posts have changed significantly.

Yeah but on the heats up to party comment....(course this is what I'm interpretating from Yuki...since he doesn't always make sense ^_~) some people enjoy arguments...I do...I love arguing with people hahaha
Anyways with complaining...I think it all depends how it's done. If you complain about something in an annoying way...as in you're just pissin' and moanin' 'bout how something sucks and you don't like it...sure it can be annoying...course it also depends on who you're whining to....I suppose..

Actually it's more like people can't understand that arguing just makes matters worse. People live to beat the **** out of anyone that disagrees with them, I'm surprised this ****ing planet is still in one piece with all the **** that's going on around it. They do print the 2 dollar bill still, it's just not in regular circulation, as with the half dollar. also the penny is more important then you think, Yeah the thought of saving your pennies is pretty much not real anymore, but I go through more pennies in my register then anything else.

It may be an ideal that we may never see...being that we are just human.
It will happen once everyone's dead, I know it's not something people like to think about, but I think about it all the time, like what would the world be like if humanity really didn't exist?
Perhaps I think too deeply into the future, far beyond my natural life span, but isn't it odd that we can actually think that far ahead in time? I've always wondered if our perception of time and space stops when we lose consciousness. Do we really wake up in this place called Heaven, or do we wake up inside some baby's body to start life over again? I get the impression that human thought is stationary, it will never leave the body and will stay to rot in it's own corps.
Then suddenly billions or years from now when the Sun becomes a red giant and swallows our tiny rock in the universe will we wake up on another planet?

They are somewhat rare...and barely in circulation. I got my hands on one years ago and just put it away. If you happen to get one some day, it may be worth keeping around.
Are you kidding? Pennies are what people are all about these days. Anything to save a little here and there and being in customer service, you know how that is. They take the phrase, "A penny saved is a penny earned" much too literally in my opinion. Pennies still make the world go round.
My real complaint is that when evil and corrupt stuff happens there is always a few people that will tell the group of people to stop complaining and accept getting ****** by the evil and corrupt (Censored for your enjoyment, till censorship fades away someday).
Change is effected from a single stroke of inspiration. It takes just one person to point something out and then the "group" will either disagree or cause a riot (very extreme example). It is very undemocratic the way things are really run. Those who are part of the workforce can relate to this. Depending on what type of business your into, it is oftentimes the case where people are told to accept adverse conditions by the few that have the perceived authority. It's up to you to wake up and realize that such things are unacceptable.
It will happen once everyone's dead, I know it's not something people like to think about, but I think about it all the time, like what would the world be like if humanity really didn't exist?

That's some forecasting your doing there. My comment was in response to your previous statement about being on opposite sides of extremes and finding balance (respectively paraphrasing). As long as people are around, there will be corruption and evil because that is a trait that is attributed to our humanity. Sitting in the middle of the "magnet" can be seen as a Utopian ideal for we all strive to look for some sort of balance in our lives while trying to battle disruptions and distractions that, at one time or another, need to
People try so hard to act like they are better than everyone else when in the end, human beings are animals...highly evolved animals but still animals nonetheless. There are countless examples that exemplify what it means to be civilized and countless to show that at any moment, we can and will revert back to the natural instincts that we like to observe and criticize in wildlife.
You are correct in the sense that when everyone is gone, things will balance out...because there will be no one to disrupt the flow of natural order.
I must admit that I still need to get my own personal affairs in order before I worry about what will happen in the coming future (the future that you speak of). I'm just trying to make sure my future and those of my loved ones are going to be a good, safe and secure place. I'm sure that is a priority on most people's lists...and that is one way that we can secure a good future for everyone else.
I cannot comment on death for I have not experienced it yet nor do I know any dead people that were able to tell me any tales of the afterlife ;) . Seems like an interesting concept although you may be OVERTHINKING it a bit.
Do you sometimes have dreamless nights? You just remember that you were awake and then you woke up and many hours had passed? That could be what death is like...sans the waking up portion of course!
In the end, it was a very interesting exercise in speculative theory that may or may not be true.
I wonder if this counts as a rant....? :P

This is exactly what I was thinking about, a time when you go to sleep and wake up what you might thing was just moments later to find it's the morning. Even with dreams it seems like our perception of time completely stops until we wake up. Of course Being aware that you're even dead is probably not true. But that's the closest thing I can think of when you lose consciousness.

Emo? oh I forgot life is all about happy thoughts and love and compassion and admiration, the world will crumble and fall apart if someone complains about how life is to them in this world.
Hate to break it to you buddy, but that's life, Happiness or sad it all ends up in the same place. It's random, cruel at times and forgiving at times but it will all come down to an end eventually.
To think of a time when we are all gone is not exactly emo, it is neutral, it's neither happy or sad, but some people in this world reflect an end to sound like it is an evil thought, those people worry too much about their existence, they are the ones who complain more then any emo you'll hear.

Unfortunately human nature is the same as any other creature on earth, we all fight for survival. Work, breath, reproduce, eat, ****, die. That's the cycle of life and it doesn't discriminate against races, ethnicity, emos, blacks, whites whatever. Whether we go to war and die on the Battle field, or live to be 100 years old in the comfort of our homes everyone of us is going to die whether you like it or not.
Have you ever seen death in the face? Have you ever experienced someone's death that happened so sudden and unexpected? I sure as hell have, and more people than I'd like to know, and more I haven't ever seen in real life, have anyone of them ever made it back to life saying "damn guys I'm sorry."
I might sound like a heartless bastard, but in reality when you're gone you're gone there's nothing you can do about it except wait till it's your turn. Those who go to war expect that they wont come back home ever again. They know what they're doing will get themselves killed, I'm sure as hell hope they wish they were back home living with their families, but to serve is their choice. One choice I hope I wont have to make, but if **** hits the fan oh well, I'll die by the gun in my own hand if it comes to that.

Heh humans are not like animals...survival of the fittest MY ***. Please in "animal life" if you fail at something you die...in human life you get nothing but chances to try again and whatnot. Look at the law system (U.S) keeps putting criminals back out on the street...like the one who was released and shot some cop in philly just recently...those people should be the ones to die but heyy they're still alive. You **** up at something at school whatever try again in the summer time or try again in the following year. Everything in human life is all about more chances. Animals you get one chance to not **** up and usually for animals when they **** something up they die. So you can't really compare the two....
On another note. I'm sure no soldier would appreciate that comment. They all join and go off to serve their country and you want them to WISH they were home. They believe it's their duty and that it's an honor to be able to do something for our country. Sure it might be hard for them being away from their families but they're doing what they choose to do knowing that if they die at least they died with some purpose, they died for their country. Some soldiers may like what they do others maybe not...but still that's quite an arrogant comment to make on your part. (course you could easily pull up a debate saying that maybe what the country did to cause them to die was wrong but that's a whole other debate....)
And I do believe we've completely branched away from this threads original purpose....^_^
Oh and to be clear I'm just talking and arguing a point I'm not looking to pick a fight and I'm not saying this angrily...
