All right boys & girls its time for another wonderful season of football. Vets around here know the drill, for everyone else all rants, raves and predictions for the upcoming season right here. Time to dust off the jerseys folks! :D
Rants: Whats on that mind of yours Brett? I mean sure you'll take the Jets from 4 wins to 6 or 7....right. He's like the old boxer in the gym with just one more fight in em.
Raves: The NFL should officially forfeit the season to the Dallas Cowboys because its pointless to prolong the inevitable, destiny cannot be rewritten as its already been fortold. No flukes or Cinderella stories this year just pure greatness in the form of the Blue Star. Hey NFL, do the right thing here and stop this foolishness. Oh and Felix Jones will be a Rookie of the Year candidate, this kid is smokin.

The less said about Saint Brett of Lambeau, the better. We're only through one week of the new season and I'm already tired of hearing about him, not to mention seeing him in that ugly shade of New York Jets green. Meanwhile, I pity Aaron Rodgers who won't be able to catch a break, if he does something good, people will invariably say Favre would've done it better, and if Rodgers does something bad, people will say Favre wouldn't do it. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. I don't envy the guy.

He'll get a lot of criticism on an off game definitely, but if you watched the game last night he was completely embraced.
Nobody afterwards was saying Favre would have done better, he was out there throwing bombs, scrambling, and even had a Favre-like off balance touchdown.

^I lost a few bones last week myself, its normally a rule of mine not to pull any triggers on week 1 but I was feeling froggy ^_^
He'll get a lot of criticism on an off game definitely, but if you watched the game last night he was completely embraced.I knew Packer fans who were already ponying up for him last year after his stint in Dallas. Most criticism will come from commentary but GB fans are not expecting anything godly from him just yet, give a year or two.
You know I've been mulling over it for a week but I still can't seem to wrap my mind around the Pats being the underdog on the card this week not to mention the massive pool of picks favoring the Jets. Granted Brady's the captain of that ship but the Pats without a head is still the freakin Pats, even my pure hatred for them doesn't blind me to that. Even if Cassell completely blows which I doubt you could put a chimp at that helm and it would still be surrounded by a well oiled machine. Jets won a too close for comfort game over the Phins no less and I just don't see how their the overwhelming fav's even with Favre. Think this game is easy money if your betting the odds.
Anyway, I'm gonna switch up my usual format and just pin point key games. Vikings are my upset pick of the week, see Indy going 0-2. With Peyton less than 50% and Brady out I think the AFC might look very interesting come mid season. Oh and of course I pick my Boys to flex their division muscle on Monday night, Mcnabb was look'n mighty strong but I'm confident they'll put Philly in their place. Another big game for MB3.

Great game, I had a feeling the Eagles would stagger at the end. They aren't at the Cowboys level yet.
I honestly think that Buffalo will win the AFC East. They haven't played any division opponents yet so it's tough to tell for sure, but that's going to be my pick. They've looked great so far.
Also, it's great to see the Panthers winning again. One of my favorite teams, and it's good to see Delhomme healthy and playing well. They can be contenders in the NFC if they keep playing like they have.
My pick for division winners:
AFC North: Pittsburgh Steelers(the division seems strong, but I think it's not as good as it seems, Bengals still stink unfortunately, Browns aren't living up the hype and last years success, and the Ravens are sort of rebuilding)
AFC South: Indianapolis Colts(if they can get healthy, they'll be dominant)
AFC East: Buffalo Bills(The Jets don't look that good honestly, neither do the Dolphins, the Pats are the only competition)
AFC West: Denver Broncos(they've looked good so far, even though they should have lost to San Diego)
NFC North: Green Bay Packers(though I think the Bears and Vikings could compete, the bears have been suprisingly decent)
NFC South: Carolina Panthers(They look to be back, though New Orleans has a chance)
NFC East: Dallas Cowboys(stacked, but Cowboys seem to be the best)
NFC West: Arizona Cardinals(pretty weak division, argueably the weakest. Cards seem to be the best though, Rams are miserable, and Seahawks and 49ers seem pretty weak).
Teams I hope to make the playoffs but I don't think will: Houston Texans, Cincinatti Bengals, Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Redskins.
Why are the Bengals always so dissapointing? Ever since they almost made it to the Super Bowl a few years back they just haven't been the same. Carson Palmer is almost ruining my Fantasy team, haha, luckily I can win even though he/and the team are playing poor.

3-0 baby :naughty: lets keep the ball rolling.
Very deceptive looking game, the pack kept Romo out of the end zone through most of it and Rodgers was moving the ball pretty well. Huge night for MB3, glad to see Pacman contribute more.
Oh and chalk up another TD for our Rookie of the Year, I keep telling folks about this kid. Felix is lightning in a bottle, you can't give him an inch.
Time to flex some more division muscle next week.

It may be a battle between KC, Cleveland, and St Louis to see who goes 0-16. KC already lost to Oakland at home, that may have been their best chance to win a game. Cleveland has a terrible schedule but gets Houston twice.

These days, it's damn hard for any team, no matter how horrible they are to go winless. Paulie Tags made sure of that by insisting on parity which, in some circles is parody. There's always going to be a bottom feeder who'll catch a playoff contender on a bad day or a couple of dogs who play each other with one finding a way to win. Right now, the Lambs are the worst of a very bad lot, but they'll find a way to win at least two games, perhaps three.

I agree, but the NFC west has been kind of suprising this year. It is a weak division, I think it'll be interesting to see how it plays out. Also, to see if the Cards or 49ers are any good in the long run.
Also, Marc Bulger is getting benched this week, and maybe longer. They are starting Trent Green, which, if I can say, is a LOL move. Do they really think that Trent Green is better than Bulger, or the answer to their problems? That just makes me laugh. Also, their noteable players aren't supporting this move, the team just seems to be in complete disarray. They are definitely the worst team in the league right now.
I actually drafted Bulger to be my starter on a fantasy team this year, man was that a bust haha. I got him in like the 5th round though, oh well.

The Cowboy's schedule is pretty easy for the four games that Romo is gone. All of them should be a win except for maybe the game against the Giants, that is the only tough spot.
And how about the Atlanta Falcons?? Who would have guessed that they would have turned out 4-2 and be in a 3 way tie for first in the NFC South. The NFC South is an underrated division, the toughest behind the NFC East. Usually I'd give the AFC South the #2 toughest division but right now it's not looking like it was the last few years, the Jags and Colts don't look as strong as they were a year ago. I'm very curious to see how the NFC South goes though, I think that both the Panthers and Falcons have been a very pleasant suprise this season, I thought it'd be a fight between Tampa Bay and New Orleans honestly. I really want to keep a close eye on Atlanta though, Matt Ryan is not playing like a Rookie, and the team just looks all around solid. Very impressive.

I kinda understand that BUT they've been trying to fix the secondary for the past 4 years possibly longer, our other Roy hasn't panned out and that pool of talent is pretty thin in that area. We're pretty stacked up front but even the weakest teams can look great in the air against us, guess we're just going off the if they score 99 we'll win if we score 100 mentality for now.

Cleveland aren't stacked at receiver. Besides Braylon Edwards(who has sucked it up until last week) and Kellen Winslow they don't really have anyone else. Stallworth is very injury prone, and he's been bouncing from team to team in the last few years, that is never a good sign. Jurevicious(spelling?) is okay, but nothing special. Either the Rams had the best outing they've had in 3 years or the Dallas D is as depleted as I've feared. Brad not clicking with the Romo tuned Offense was to be expected but our D was just putrid, with the best defenses we have through the air sidelined by injury and suspension(Ugggh) this whole mess is very unsettling. And theres no easy solution to it but to power up this offense and get it healthy. Lets hope Tony takes Favres encouragement and comes back sooner. With division rivals around the corner things are not looking to kosher, I normally try to not let one game get to me but this particular one was embarassing and we're almost at mid point.
On a somewhat positive note S. Jackson is one cat I've always liked to see bust out and show us his potential -_-; it just sucks to see it against my team lol.

Why would you be worried about Buffalo? They just had a pretty convincing win over the Chargers. I think they are the real deal. Great defense, solid offense. They have one of the most solid rushing attacks in the league with Marshawn Lynch I think.
New England looked good last night, but I still am a little skeptical about their chances without Brady. Their defense did shut down Denver though, but a lot of it was Denver's fault for having too many turnovers.

The Steelers really blew that game, more than the Giants won it in my opinion. That safety on the bad snap really hurt. The game was tied, then after the safety punt, the Gaints got to start another drive from the about midfield.
I'm not saying the Giants couldn't have won it without that safety, but it was just a huge shift in momentum, I could feel the game slip away from the Steelers when it happened.

It was Steelers pace from the very beginning and Giants had to settle for field goals over and over. The defense on the last Steelers touch down was pathetic and all looked lost. But they played with real grit and next thing you know that safety was just what we needed. But I don't sweat the little details and a win is a win. Wow I don't know if I can say I'm happy. More like reilved. Tampa can't afford a lose in the second best division in the league. KC showed up but it seems like we're playing down and very flat. Galloway needs to get healthy and we need more ball security. One positive was that Clifton Smith is an awesome return man. Unlike Jackson he runs downhill.
Need to show up next week against a tough under preforming Vikings team.

The Bills are looking less and less like a contender. They lose their 3rd straight today against the Patriots. I don't think they've won a game in their division yet.
The Falcons win again today, I really think they have a chance of getting a wild card spot this year if they can keep playing like this. Also, the Ravens are atop the AFC North now, very suprising. And they are really finding a groove offensively, they might win the division if the Steelers don't pull it together.

Matt Ryan is a relief for the Falcons. Last season was all kinds of ugly for them.
Now, they're tied with the very defensive Bucs, which is great. However, the Falcons are just not going to be legit until they beat the Panthers, the leading team in the NFC South.
Hopefully, the G-men can win this, but McNabb is making things hard for them.

That was the most miserable slog of an Eagles game I've watched since the death throes of the Ray Rhodes era. A tie? A tie against the 1-8, bottom feeding Bengals who trotted out a quarterback who couldn't find his rear end with both hands and a GPS? I'm surprised Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh didn't throttle Ryan Fitzpatrick right on the field because he had no damn idea what he was doing. For that matter, neither did Donovan McNabb who wasn't aware of the NFL's Sudden Death overtime rule. Are you kidding me?
And what the hell was Andy Reid doing, punting the ball back to the Bungles with little over a minute left in overtime on fourth and one instead of going for it? I mean, the entire season was on the line and he PUNTED? Are you kidding me? That's it, I'm done. I'm through. I'm finished with the 2008 Eagles who officially flushed any chance they had of making the playoffs down the toilet yesterday. I don't give a rat's *** what the players, coaches or local media buttmunchers will say in the days to come, the Eagles are NOT going to the playoffs! Eighteen shots with the ball and all they could muster was 13 points? Are you kidding me? McNabb, for all those gaudy numbers he put up didn't do crap, and Reid was a four alarm disaster with his half-baked playcalling which was worse than atrocious. If Jerry Jones owned the Eagles, he would've fired Reid immediately after that catastrophe of a game was finally put out of its misery. A tie! I still can't believe it! Like I said, I'm done!

Good showing by the Bucs last week. Really loved Garcia scrambling around and making plays I was really concerned since he wasn't doing that much prior. And the D held AP to less than 100 yards not bad at all. One downer though is that our best back Graham is done for the season. Hopefully Cadillac will be up and ready to rumble ASAP. Dunn just can't do it himself.
Edit: Hell of a send of for Lynch as well. He belongs in the Hall not only for his play-making ability and leading the Bucs to a title but also his character. Real Class.

I bet Peyton Manning will win the MVP this year.
And, the Broncos are choking majorly right now. All they had to do was win one more game and they would have locked up their division. Now, it's coming down to a game against San Diego to decide who makes the playoffs. Nothing against Denver, but I'd much rather like to see the Chargers make it, especially the way they've both been playing lately.
I do hope the Cowboys make the playoffs though, I'd much rather see them over the Buccs(who look terrible lately, a very overrated team in my opinion anyways), or the Eagles.
Also, I'm happy for the Falcons, especially since they are one of my favorite teams. I hope they can make a statement in the playoffs. Matt Ryan got shafted not making the pro bowl by the way. Eli Manning made it over him, how pathetic.
Jets look like they won't make the playoff, unless they get a miracle. You never know though the way this season is going. Looks like the Dolphins are going to win the division right now though. Also, I'm rooting for the Ravens right now as well for the last wild card spot. As cool as it'd be to see New England make the playoffs, I think I'd rather see a fresh Ravens team. They are a pretty good turn around story this year too, they weren't very good last year.

Yeah, the Cowboys got crushed. I really think their woes is a product of bad coaching. Jerry Jones needs to hire a real coach and get out of the way.Well its no big shock that Wade's done better work as a coordinator, very few can pull off being a "player's coach" effectively. Wouldn't put sole blame on coaching though, there's plenty to go around. I really don't think switching him out with Garrett(which is the likelihood) is going to change much without a different scheme on both sides of the ball. Didn't like the offensive set Tony was under this year granted our ground package was severely fractured. Personally I think we need a change in plans not parts this team is not in that bad of order, it really is not give it another year.
Anyway, this is an interesting playoffs so lets talk playoffs.

I don't think the Colts were ever the favorites seeing as the Titans and Steelers are there. I kind of saw the Colts losing honestly, the Chargers always find a way to beat them. It happened last year when noone gave them a chance.
Also, the Falcons just could not run the ball at all. You have to give a lot of credit to the Cardinals defense. I really did think the Falcons would win this game, I didn't see the Cardinals playing that well. I think a lot of people underestimated them. All the pressure was put on Matt Ryan, and he did step up and play pretty well, but at the end of the game the Falcons defense just couldn't stop the Cardinals offense from picking up the first downs.

The reason why many probably favored the Colts were because the Titans, Steelers, and Ravens are in the same mold - teams based around the running game and defense. Of course, if you get in a hole early, you can make mistakes that will snowball - but, even if you aren't having a great game, you can stick close to all three teams and pull it out in the end.
Of course, Defense wins championships. :)

Yes they do but.....the QB is the most important IMO, remember when the bears and pats? Rex made me lose about $100 on that game =[ From what I remember, the bears at the time had the best defense and still lost. A decent defense, a consistent QB and a great running game wins championships =]

Gosh I can't believe how badly the Giants played. It was frustrating to watch. I like the Eagles, and I don't mind that they won, but the Giants' performance was a major let down.

well its now offical. Cardinals vs Steelers for the big prize of em all at the super bowl. I gotta say i was hoping it would be the eagles but thats just the beauty of football..unscripted, unpredictable, and unbelivable. I liked all the teams going into these championship games today. Shame only 2 could go in the end. My congrads to all the teams that made it to that point.
But man what a hell of a game at the steelers home turf. Did any of you guys see that devstating hit in the late 4th quarter. I gotta tell ya ive seen some crazy hits in the past few weeks but that one was just an awful car wreck. I hope both players will be alright.
Still just great games im looking forward to the superbowl..Cardinals are gonna have there hands full with the steeler's defense. My home teams are from texas..but still i just love watching great football games. May the best team win. :)

Well I'm glad Philly blew it but I'm a little discouraged seeing the Steelers still alive, I do not want them to get that 6th before my Boys >_<
Needless to say I'm pulling for the Cards, and the Kurt/Fitzgerald combo today was straight beastly.

Congrats to Arizona which proved itself to have been the better team last night. Kurt Warner's veteran savvy rose to the top on the big stage while Larry Fitzgerald was damn near unstoppable, even against a stout defense like my Eagles. But the Cards will have their hands full against Pittsburgh as they have an even tougher defense than Philly's. Should make for an interesting Super Bowl.

Absolutly with the steelers. I just like the coaching style. They sometimes dont have blow out scores but they are truly methodical.
I gotta say they are defently on there A game with stars like Troy Polamalu. Steelers are currently the #1 Ranked Defense. I was keeping tabs on both Ravens and Steelers during the mid-late season when i could watch one of there games.
Both were tough teams and i do meen tough. They both got through the Dallas Cowboys when the Cowboys were on fire.
So its defently gonna be an intresting game and its gonna be intresting to see if the Cardinals can find ways to evade the Defense. Its gonna be a tough game and may the best team win.

What a come back! The steelers are the only team i know that could pull it off. Still just what a beautiful game. Couldn't have asked for a better super bowl. Congrads to both teams for a great game and a HUGE congrads to the Steelers. Can't wait for next year. :)

Go Pittsburgh! I have to say, it was a great game, the Cards kept it a lot closer than I expected and it was one of the more exciting football games I've watched recently, especially the 4th Quarter.
And I have to give special mention to Santonio Holmes, from THE Ohio State University!

It was awesome. For the first time ever, everyone in my family went for the same team, the Steelers. So no bets were made. But still. It was great to see the Steelers win, especially because I like Mike Tomlin (he looks like Omar Epps!!). Sadly, Hines Ward did not provide a Korean Pride moment.

The end of last night's game will go down in history as one of THE greatest finishes of a Super Bowl ever. The Steelers turned in their usual grind-out, mash-it-up sort of performance while the Cardinals put up more of a fight than I expected as Larry Fitzgerald cemented his reputation as the best receiver in the NFL today. All in all, a darn good game I enjoyed watching.

^Agreed with Fitzgerald, he's certainly on top of the mountain of the best of the best right now. Dudes deceptively fast.
That was a fun game though the outcome has me a bit bummed out :( the whole history making part.

Larry Fitzgerald should be the NFL MVP, no question about it.
That interception might possibly be the longest interception to touchdown ever.
That cemented the game. If it wasn't for that the Cardinals would have won. And is it just me, or was some of the calls by the refs biased towards the Steelers? One of the players for Pittsburgh started wailing on a Cardinals player (the second time) and there wasn't a personal foul towards the Steelers.

Well FA is in now under way anyone excited about what their team is doing? Oh and now I'm scared of the Bronco's and Jet's secondary, it seems the Eagles are cleaning house.
My team the Bucs decided to get rid of THE Derrick Brooks, I'm still pissed but hopefully it will prove to be a good move. I just really hope he comes back and decides to retire a Buc if he does (and should) play for another team. Winslow should really help stretch our passing offense now we just need one more WR another RB (hoping for Ward), a QB (rumor has it we are going after Cutler), a big DT (draft or Peppers), and a CB (guy from Pitt or Draft).

Interesting move *tilts head* I'll root for em wherever he goes.
Probably the biggest shake up Dallas will do in the off season, R. Williams was a no brainer he could of been gone last year but this was definitley a surprise. Tons of cap room now and a wide open FA pool, lets see what we can scrap if anything.
Oh and good idea to resign Kurt Cards, why the hell was that even an issue.

Oh yeah not to mention (sorry if i spell the name wrong) Matt castle being traded to the chiefs. People were saying he was gonna stay with the patorits and why not? I thought he helped turn there team around. But maybee thats just me.
Makes me wonder what other surprises will happen this year.

What a shame. I meen i knew it was gonna happen someday but not now. :( I hope he may try to consider one more season. Make a perfect 30 before hanging it up.
Heres to a one of a kind guy who knew how to call the plays. Thank you Madden for the memories. You will truly be missed.:'(

Regarding the retirement of John Madden, it wouldn't surprise me if he saw what happened to the recently deceased Harry Kalas (longtime voice of the Philadelphia Phillies) and decided he had enough. However, we won't have to worry if Madden will wind up on welfare now that he's stopped broadcasting since he probably made ten times more money off his uber-successful NFL videogame franchise than he ever made in the booth. In any event, John will be missed.

Let me say this guys. Anyone can work for a paycheck. Yet in life there are things that are worth more then chashing in your hard work. To me Madden is one of those great examples that even if you doing what you love in life it becomes worth more then money itself. Even with him gone from the booth the video games show his memories will live on. :D Again thanks for the memories and games Madden.

Not exactly. For one I gotta get my footbal fix. lol
FYI if anyones intrested preseason started last week.
Presseason just isn't exactly about practice. Its the main deciding factor to find out who's gonna make the teams roster and who's gonna have to wait for another chance to prove themselves. Some may have to go home for good.
Anyways I watched a few games from last week. Steelers performance looked great against their former super bowl opponents the Cardinals.
I wasn't too impresed with the Texans even though they beat the chiefs..if they play like that there in big trouble when the season starts.
All I got to say with the Cowboys right now is..what we're they thinking!? They got rid of some amazing talent and now there paying for it. They got creamed by the Raiders. In Irony one of the points helped scored by them was a turn over from one of there former Dallas companions from last year. Heck you know whats even more insulting..droping the ball when that you called a fair catch from in a kick off. The cowboy dropped it only to have the raiders capitalize and then score another TD from that mistake.
Defently not the Cowboys from last season.
Tommrow night on Fox the Cowboys square off against the Titans. :O(eek) If the Cowboys don't step it up..I really dread what the final scores gonna be when that one is all said and done.
I'm looking forward to seeing some of next weeks pre season games. :)

I think it is an interesting situation regarding the Jets. Everyone says that Favre was such a bad quarterback for them, but I think the opposite. It wasn't so much that Favre was bad, more so like the rest of the Jets were crap.

hey speaking of Favre did you guys know hes back and gonna play for the Vikings!? :D I was shocked but I'm glad hes gonna give it 1 more go.
Update:
I'll recap my thoughts on the games next week but man I was watching the cowboys game last night at there new bling-bling stadium and this became a huge problem when it comes to kick offs there. The new cowboys stadium has above in the middle of the stadium this humongous 2,100 inch video screen!
Anyways its defently a distraction for punters because just last night and in practice punters kept hitting this screen. I mean not on purpose but come on whats the purpose of a punter again!? There soposs to kick it high! Feel free to check it out. I mean I like the screen but come on this is ridiculous your gonna watch the game LIVE! Not watching a freeking TV screen.lol
