The Inexact Science Behind D.M.C.A. Takedown Notices (http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/06/05/the-inexact-science-behind-dmca-takedown-notices/):
An inanimate object could also get the blame. The researchers rigged the software agents to implicate three laserjet printers, which were then accused in takedown letters by the M.P.A.A. of downloading copies of “Iron Man” and the latest Indiana Jones film.
Priceless

Well, you know how those laserjet printers are. Thieves, every last one of 'em.

Is this like those guys who tried to graduate a horse from Harvard?

Either way they're looking mighty dumb right now.

One once took something I'd written on my computer! Copied it word for word.

True story.

That's right, mom! It was the printer that printed out that hentai when you turned on the computer this morning! It wasn't an unfilled print-job from last night... it was the printer, all the printer I tell you!

When I experimented with bittorrent protocol a couple years ago I managed to convince tracker and other clients that it was a localhost who's downloading.

^ Pish. In my day, we had ASCII-based pornography. I tell you, the sound of an impact line printer at full speed can make me hot and bothered to this very day. Black ink on greenbar fanfold is the medium of the true connoiseur.

This is how the RIAA and MPAA makes the real money, by suing people even if they didn't download anything illegally and don't even own a computer. Heck somewhere out there some dude is getting sued because the MPAA thinks that he downloaded Manos the Hands of Fate on his microwave oven.

I guess with all the crappy music and movies these days and that no one is buying them or even downloading them illegally, that they have to make false claims and sue the entire country.

This is why there isn't any music DVDs or music Bluray disks, thanks RIAA and the MPAA and the greedy coperations for holding the industry back.

Actually the RIAA, for every song from a online distribution service (napster, etc) they & the record label take a large fraction of the .99¢ that the artist should be earning, leaving them only a few cents pure profit. They just file lawsuits just to make it look like they're doing something (because they lose more verdicts than win).
